Kai score question
Alright, this may sound like a stupid question, but just how many diiferent scores are there for Kai? I thought there were 2, but I remember hearing a while ago in an interview something about a different score for TV. If someone could please clear that up for me it would be great.

Re: Kai score question
There was the original score it was broadcast with in Japan (as composed by Kenji Yamamoto), and there was the replacement score slapped onto it from March 2011 onward (as originally composed for DBZ by Shunsuke Kikuchi). Here's an image from our latest "Feature" that showcases where it switches over for various broadcasts/releases:

Beyond that, though, it sounds like some of the episodes that received what we'll call "Panic Re-scorings" (the ones on TV immediately after the news/scandal broke) did have some pieces shifted around before they hit DVD/Blu-ray and even later re-broadcasts. It's not an entirely different score per se, but it's "adjusted". One piece of BGM in a scene swapped out for another, etc.

Re: Kai score question
Thanks a lot! I've been wondering about this for a while, but every time I tried to research it I never got a clear answer.

Re: Kai score question
Didn't Ocean say they were gonna be composing a new musical score for their Kai dub, though?
So mondo lame.
Re: Kai score question
That was Sean Schemmel with a snarky, unconfirmed comment. Also that's probably off-topic.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
