DBZ Dub-Specific Next Episode Preview Stuff:

So the US NEPs are generally the same as the Japanese ones, however a lot of the time they have a few scenes changed around for similar scenes and some of the timing shifted around.

What I realized happened is kind of simple. I was doing a project where I was remastering some of the edited-dub Buu episodes. I did about 5 of these, and eventually I realized when I was hunting and pecking for the NEP, a lot of the time the changed scenes from the NEPs are also ones that Funimation cut out of the episodes themselves either for time or violence. So I guess they were trying to be consistent and not show scenes that didn't appear in the TV broadcast.

My favorite movie henchman is Sancho.

I seem to recall something on the Toonami broadcast about the next episode.

Never thought they actually used the exact same footage on any of them, huh. But that last part made me remember the horrid narrations that went with the few I remember... Couldn't they just have used an in-character Schemmel as one would expect?

I definitely remember Schemmel doing an in-character "Hey! it's Goku!" at the beginning of at least some of the Toonami aired NEPs.

lol I definitely remember in the preview for episode 287 when it aired on TV, Schemmel's Goku was saying a surprise when a certain Super Saiyan shows up in his 'birthday suit', yet they never showed that scene at all.

Having Sean Schemmel do the previews was one of the few season 3 changes to help dub the show more accurately. It did indeed start in season 3, but it was used very inconsistently. Sometimes it would be him, but most of the time it would be the narrator. If I recall, though, it didn't last very long before they went back to the narrator exclusively, although that I can't confirm for sure (EDIT: apparently the above post says it went as far as the end of the series, but I asssume it was still sporadic). What I can confirm for sure is that, even when Goku was doing the previews, it was ONLY Goku. Other members of the cast never chimed in like they always did in the original version.

Anyone have a clip of a Schemmel preview?
