The "issue" came up in the first two Season sets, and these Blu-Rays are likely aiming for an even larger market penetration. I would not be surprised if the questions were asked all over again.
(And FUNimation's PR marketing words just make this stuff all the more confusing. Otherwise they wouldn't have gotten enough questions about the Ocean Dub that it'd have to be commented on in their Youtube Event.)

They did acknowledge the Ocean dub in their Youtube event, though. I mean, with a tagline like "The Original US version" questions are certainly going to be raised. Even I was curious.

On another note, Chris Sabat himself said in the interview that despite the original dub not being present on the Blu-Ray, anyone who doesn''t know who Scott McNeil was should be punched :)

Hey guy's sorry to jump into this conversation so late, But could someone give me a hand and bring me up to speed on what's been going on for this blu-ray release? Are they adding next episode previews and stuff? are there any screen caps?
Help a fellow Dragonballer out

There's been no news of next episode previews, but for screenshots, three were released last month:

Same grain, slightly darker colors than the DBoxes. But the DBoxes aren't the film master being used for this set, so that's expected. On the first page of this thread, there's a link to an Anime News Network interview that touches on the Blu-Rays, they have DBox and Season Set comparison images.

One thing I hope they do is redub the old 1999 Goku lines just so its a bit more consistent with the other redubs they did for the OB's. And on that note they should get Vic Mignogna in to finish his lines as Butta.

Kills the nostalgia; which is what you use when advertising to most (Sure as Hell not all) dubbies. Not that I don't agree, heck, Schmmeul today could probably tone down of the ringers into something that's actually funny (MAH BUTTZ ON FIYAH!)

I sincerely doubt there will be any more dubbing this time around. I think FUNi has realized that the dub fans really don't care or just want it the way it was back then and the people who want such changes either want a redub like Kai, which is never going to happen, or are just watching the Japanese version anyway.

By the way, does RightStuf bill you after you pre-order items or not until they're actually available? I bought the two sets about a week ago and I haven't been charged yet. I just don't want to forget about this and get slammed with overage fees if I happen to not have $50 in my account by the time I do get charged.

Credit cards get charged only when the product actually ships.

Yeah, their new releases can be quite expensive at times, but rarely do I have any problems with the products themselves. Maybe that's because I don't care very much about the video quality.

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree here.

I don't think we disagreed at any point.

You just conceded their prices are expensive, and stated that you don't care about quality.

That said apart from being far too expensive, Madman's blu ray releases have been fine; primarily because of the death of PAL/NTSC with High definition we don't have to worry about the trashy low bitrate conversions that we've been subjected to in the past, they've all just been carbon copies of their US counterparts. So assuming they pick up this release, it should be good quality-wise.

I'm kinda hoping this Blu-Ray set will fix a minor audio issue. During the Cell Games in "season 6" it always switched back and forth between Kyle Hebert's and Mark Britten's Ox King, its jarring in a way.

I haven't watched the English dub with the Faulconer score since it first aired, but I checked out a single of mine (Babidi - Rivals) about a year ago. I seem to remember that during the Kaioshin/Goku/Vegeta showdown at the budoukai... the music switches to Kikuchi's score for a few seconds right after the second eye catch. I can't say that I'm a fan of the English dub, either way, but I've always been curious if this was carried over to the Orange Bricks, or if it was just a single DVD glitch. Anyone?

I know exactly what glitch you're talking about. It used to irk me a lot, but it's gone from the Season sets. The beginning notes of the dub song play instead.

I think the grain on the blu set looks rather excessive but better than the DNR alternative, personally.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
For me it's better in colours and grain than the original.
