What does each Viz Big cover?
Hey everybody I don't own any of the manga but I do own most of the anime so I just wanted to know what arcs are covered in the Viz Bigs.
Bald that way

Same stuff. Saiyans, Namek, Androids, Cell, Boo.Kakarotto wrote:Hey everybody I don't own any of the manga but I do own most of the anime so I just wanted to know what arcs are covered in the Viz Bigs.

Re: What dose each Viz Big cover?
Unlike some other series of the time (Sailormoon, Ranma 1/2), the DragonBall anime is a pretty straight adaptation of its manga (with, of course, some padding where necessary). So yeah, it starts with Pilaf and ends with Buu -- the beginning and the end.
The only thing to be aware of with Viz is that they created an artificial divide in the manga where there never was one in Japan: they adopted the "Z"-split from the TV version. Volumes 1 through 16 (minus a two-chapter difference where Raditz begins) are what they call just "Dragon Ball", and then they re-start for 1 through 26 (which was 17 through 42) of what they call "Dragon Ball Z".
Each Viz Big (minus the very last one of each line) cover three of the original tankoubon (which Viz had also released under their "Graphic Novel" line).
DB Viz Big 1: DB 1-3
DB Viz Big 2: DB 4-6
DB Viz Big 3: DB 7-9
DB Viz Big 4: DB 10-12
DB Viz Big 5: DB 13-16 <-- four volumes in one
DBZ Viz Big 1: DB 17-19 (Viz's DBZ 1-3)
DBZ Viz Big 2: DB 20-22 (Viz's DBZ 4-6)
DBZ Viz Big 3: DB 23-25 (Viz's DBZ 7-9)
DBZ Viz Big 4: DB 26-28 (Viz's DBZ 10-12)
DBZ Viz Big 5: DB 29-31 (Viz's DBZ 13-15)
DBZ Viz Big 6: DB 32-34 (Viz's DBZ 16-18)
DBZ Viz Big 7: DB 35-37 (Viz's DBZ 19-21)
DBZ Viz Big 8: DB 38-40 (Viz's DBZ 22-24)
DBZ Viz Big 9: DB 41-42 (Viz's DBZ 25-26) <-- two volumes in one
Kanzentai's guide to the original tankoubon run will give you a rough idea of which volumes cover which arcs, if you also need that kind of information.
