Just my two cents now. I thought the music placement was done quite well in episode 82 as opposed to a very dull 81, (and it's not based on the trunks insert song used either). Personally, I was really pleased to hear the Piccolo theme from jinzouningen machi e. Not only is it rarely used in Kai, but the "throw back" feel to it complemented well with the announcement of Cell resurrecting the Tenkaichi Budokai. All in all, it didn't feel as distracting as the last episode, so that's a good thing.

As for the dub, everyone also seemed petty spot on. I wanted to hold my judgement on Dameon Clarke until after a few episodes in (as I remember the inital, premature hate for Chris Ayres' new Freeza) and I really think he's starting to settle in now. There may have been some spotty deliveries in the previous 2 episodes, but now you can really hear him sounding more comfortable with his dialogue. I also like the little nuances he's using now. For example his line "...honestly i thought anyone calling himself a warrior would understand that much..." It makes his lines more interesting i think.

Trunks' power ups were definitely not disappointing as the last episode either. Maybe he was "saving his all" for this episode? I'm not sure, but it seemed like more effort was put into it from my point of view. Colleen still did her usual thing, albeit a TINY bit deeper, as if she's prepping up to sound a little older for the remaining episodes. Sean Schemmel, while still a small part in this episode, was quite impressive again with his power up. I always thought his original performance was pretty decent for his SSJ power-up exhibition, but he definitely put that to shame with his updated performance. It also helps to take it more seriously with the more accurate dialogue of course. :P

***
Also just a small update, the next episode preview featured Cell in just about ALL of his classic performance, with of course, the improved voice acting. The only thing that irked me was the nicktoons preview for next week also featured a Vegeta line saying something along the lines of "I'll eat Cell for breakfast!" ....Ugh...for our sake, I sure hope that's just a TV edit line -_-'

Hmm...so I guess it is going just like in the original Z dub, where Perfect Cell was kinda forced sounding until Trunks did the ultra power up.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I too find the parallel pretty funny/ironic as well. You'd think that he be pretty used to voicing Cell considering it's a character he'd been voicing for roughly over 10 years now. Of course, I'm sure the initial rough performance due to the fact that they're trying to take it in a new direction this time around with Kai.

I don't really mind the slight slip-ups. It's not like the Japanese v/a's were completely flawless at all times.

The important things are that the voices suit the characters and that they put raw emotion into their performances and so far that appears to be what they have done.

Pretty much thought this, too. Gohan's voice sounded a tiny bit deeper than normal, which I thought was pretty cool. It makes the whole dealie with training in the RoSaT that much more noticeable with that character.

Also noticed that Schemmel seems to have made his SSJ4 voice the standard for Goku's other SSJ forms as well. His switch from talking while at USSJ to base level was flawless. Really digging how some actual thought went into voices and inflection and the like with this new dub :D.

... though I still feel the need to hold off on Perfect Cell's voice. Definitely seems like they're taking things in a different direction this time around, if only slightly. Rather than the perfect gentleman, it feels like they're playing up the Saiyan cells in him. I forget the exact line, but as he berates Trunks, (really surprised they kept the Japanese audio during the fight, btw) he calls him a "kid," which I feel like is a major change in character since I remember DBZ's dub Cell the most right before Gohan's SSJ2 transformation when he says "You made the same mistake Trunks did... boy." Sure, it's a slight change, but it's noticeable to me. The whole "condescending to you because I'm so perfect and you're not" seems to have been replaced with a "I'm giving you crap because you're nowhere near as skilled a warrior than I am" and I'm not exactly sure how to feel about that :/.

I really loved Trunks' voice in Episode 82 the power up noises were also much better this time too for him.

I don't know what happened but I really loved Daemon Clarke's Perfect Cell voice this episode. I guess he is finally getting used to the character and becoming more at home with it.

I noticed that they're replicating the Japanese "kccchhh!" sounds lately :/

That's good actually!

When they'd been angry, I noticed (more or less in the episode before the Final Flash) that their grunts of anger were more like the Japanese's.

In the Japanese, instead of going "Grrr" or "Errr", or really any retarded sounding grunts, the went "Kchhh", which really in itself was more realistic.

I don't know what some of you are talking about. Dameon Clarke's new Perfect Cell is immensely better than his previous one.

They had Kuririn say, "This is nuts!" this week.

I have to admit, Schemmel's doing a pretty good job as Goku right now, even if there isn't much of Goku in this week's episodes.

I'm thinking that "This is nuts!" is a TV-edit line.

Yep. I also noticed Coleen sounded a lot like Luffy this week. Which is good, considering he is getting older. Imagine if there was a Buu arc and Colleen played Gohan? (Yes, I know, Chris Sabat said that Hebert would reprise, just thinking of possibilities.)

That preview was awesome, to say the least. His cocky voice really fit those lines. Too bad a lot of the next few weeks' episodes will be filler.

Agreed! Also, maybe it's just me but he reminds me of John O' Hurley, the current host of Family Feud. Not that it's a bad thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzG3eqsM ... re=related

And to think I was worried about Clarke getting back into character. Man do I feel silly.

Also, most natural grunt and strain noises I've ever heard out of Funimation this episode; I'm actually really impressed. Last few episodes make opting out of Kai that much harder. Then I remember how off the RoSaT scenes looked; is there any reason for that?
