Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse

The fuck. What is he just making up tradition as he goes along?
Uh...according to tradition I get breakfast in bed on my first day as king! Bacon and eggs, people!

You feel sorry for Goku expecting his son to be the same battle-addicted jackass than him rather than just a normal teenager with a social life outside of his martial artist friends?Saimaroimaru wrote:Ah, sigh. I feel sorry for Goku, no wonder he left with uub.
And Oob would just become another one of Goku's puppets to cure his boredom, only to yet again disappoint him when he likely ends up not being as obsessed with fighting as his mentor and wants to have a normal life too.

Why do you think he's making it up? If he was, then someone would call him out on it.

Yes. Its probably some very old traditions/rules regarding who rules the Saiyans that many Saiyans had already forgotten.Piccolo Daimao wrote: ...![]()

It just sounds like an SNL skit. Pulling random traditions out of nowhere. Especially this one since it suits the situation.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
True. It does kinda seem like he's pulling these all out of his ass.
Saiyan: I challenge you!
Baddack: Yeah, but, according to our traditions that no one remembers, you have to wait a week and let me rest.
Saiyan: Fine. (grumble)

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Not really... It wouldn't make sense if the King could be challenged again right away. He wouldn't be at full power so, if that was allowed, even a weakling could be the Saiyan King, as long as 100 Saiyans challenged him first (exhausting and wounding him).TonyTheTiger wrote:It just sounds like an SNL skit. So, its only common sense that he should be allowed time to recover to his full power before having to fight a challenger again. If there is a tradition of challenging the King or ruler, it makes perfect sense for this recovering period to be included in the tradition.
As for the tradition of actually challenging the King or ruler for his position, it makes sense since the Saiyans respect power above all else. Their ruler should be the strongest among them. So, if one of them can defeat the ruler in fair combat, he should be King.
My only problem with the situation is that, since they have scouters now, the fight was completely unnecessary. It would only be necessary if they had power levels very close to each other or if one of them didn't accept the reading and wanted to try his luck in battle anyway.

You're taking a serious eye to a joke comment. I just pointed out that, as presented, it appears like a comedy skit of a guy randomly making up traditions in order to suit his needs since we've never heard of any of them before. This would be a perfect set up to a gag if Bardock were to start making crazy demands and justifying them with "it's tradition!"

I'm pretty sure Bardock and King Vegeta DID have very close power levels.... wasn't it stated as such in the actual TV special? My only problem with the situation is that, since they have scouters now, the fight was completely unnecessary. To be honest, this is a really stupid side story. It's like the author is making things up as he goes...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I for one like this special and the turn it is taking. I don't see what the problem is. Bardock had to survive Freeza's attack in some kind of way.
The problem in the Bardock special was that no one listened to him. By taking Vegeta's throne, he got power so that people could obey him, thus they had a chance against Freeza.
The whole "wait one week" could be something he pulled out of his ass, but I would say the same thing in that situation. No need to keep fighting his people when the most important thing is to save them. It doesn't matter if it's a plausible cause, in the end it serves its purpose whether it was a lie or the truth.

Only in the dub. In the original Japanese version, no such thing was stated.Kingdom Heartless wrote:I'm pretty sure Bardock and King Vegeta DID have very close power levels.... wasn't it stated as such in the actual TV special?

Well, what I mean is, he is just pulling things out of nowhere instead of building up on ideas. It's just bad writing. I didn't make myself clear now did I?

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse

...is it sad that my favorite part of this special is the Saiyan who is so loyal to his new king that he shows up to the meeting, despite being headless?

Hanasia is a fucking psychopath

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Yep. And he's still a baby, no less.
I'm pretty sure the headless man thing was just a drawing error, something that slipped.

My thoughts exactly. I realize whoever does the English translations isn't a native speaker, but it's kind of baffling that they'd somehow make up a word.Godo wrote:I'm pretty sure "securized" isn't a word.
