Because I'm a guy who enjoyed Taiketsu...
I'm curious as to what went wrong during the final development stages. Looking at screenshots and videos on GameSpot, the game looks considerably much better than that featured in the final product. Both graphic and gameplay wise.
Characters had more frames of animation and move smoothly, as if flowing. Movement didn't seem as choppy, and some Special Attacks, such as Goku's Super Kamehameha looked better. Explosions would also consume struck characters when hit with a Special, plus there was more music, rather than one track being shared for four different stages. The only thing that seems to have changed dramatically was the Sky Battle feature, in which it originally didn't use music and the losing character actually lost all of their health. Stage animation would also take place too, such as birds flying past and blood cells travelling inside Buu.
Now, I like this game. It's the best of all the 2D Dragon Ball Z beat-'em-up games, I simply don't get any fun out of the Super Butouden games and Hyper Dimension. Action is stiff is stiff and aerial combat doesn't change much, if I wanted a good 16-BIT fighting game I'd play StreetFighter or King of Fighters. Why do I think it's good? Like I said, it's a 2D DBZ game that's fast; action rarely slows down and combos flow out easily. Yes some of the attacks are cheap, such as Trunks' Ki Slashes and A18's missiles, but the attacks at time look good and it's fun smacking your opponent with them.
Last thing, yes we all hate the victory dialogue that tries to sound like something the characters would say and the lack of plot, but most of he character endings were okay.
I just made this thread ti say that I enjoyed it, just wish it could have been the way like originally planned.

I have no idea how you managed to stand Taiketsu, but you still are entitled to your opinion no matter how wierd it is to everyone.
I am also entitled to my opinion so here it is. TAIKETSU SUCKS! I cannot see how anyone would like that game after playing other DBZ fighting games such as Super Sonic Warriors and the Budokai series. I know it would be unfair to compare it to the Budokais so I'll just stick with SSW. SSW was the best 16 (mabey 32) bit DBZ fighter that there ever was. It had fast motion and each stage had a different BGM track. the animation was very smooth and even though it may had not been the best, it was great considering other DBZ games. I played Taiketsu and it seems to focus on perfect graphics instead of gameplay and ease of use.
I admit that I didn't like the SNES fighters, but they cannot be compared with the GBA ones. The games for the SNES were the best that they could've ben fo thier time. These days games can be much more advanced and eisier to play since those times. You CAN make games like SSW and Taiketsu that won't make your game system self destruct.
Now to sum this all up, Taiketsu is horrible compared to SSW and SSW2.

Dude, I'm not talking about Supersonic Warriors 1 and 2, WHICH CAME AFTER THIS GAME. Stay on topic please, I'm essentially talking about the deleted features.gotenx wrote:I have no idea how you managed to stand Taiketsu, but you still are entitled to your opinion no matter how wierd it is to everyone.

The problem is that it was a 2D game trying to be a 3D game. It's either or, people!
Also, in your attempt to justify why it's a good game, you pretty much said ignore everything that's wrong with it. Obviously people will enjoy the game if they only acknowledge what's good about it.
Everything you're looking for is still there except the birds thing.

They can and should since they were superior to the GBA titles. Of the 2D DBZ Fighters I've played, HD is the best, then SB2, SB3, the Genesis one, SB1, SSW, and then Taiketsu.I admit that I didn't like the SNES fighters, but they cannot be compared with the GBA ones.

<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Re: Because I'm a guy who enjoyed Taiketsu...
Taiketsu is mad slow compared to Legends, Shin Butoden and Bukku Tougeki/Ressen. Even Ultimate Battle 22 is faster than Taiketsu. My beef with Taiketsu is it looks awful (I swear several backgrounds were just recycled from Budokai, they really look like stills from the game), it sounds awful (borrowed sound effects from Legacy of Goku 2?), and it plays awful.
Not to mention special moves are a pain in the ass to pull off, combo's are extremely limited if not, non-existant, and whats this? A DBZ fighter with 4 attack buttons? Evil! Give me my Ki and Flight/Guard button back you bitches! Hell, I'd take one attack button over Taiketsu's setup anyday, Budokai Tenkaichi did and has 100 times more depth than Taiketsu could ever have. In fact, I could make a better DBZ fighter than Taiketsu using Mugen using Super Butoden, Gundam and Sailor Moon sprites.
When it comes to making original DBZ games, Atari/Webfoot's level of quality is really topsy turvy. The 1st Legacy of Goku sucked, the 2nd one was great, the 3rd was so-so, and GT Transformations was meh...and oh yeh... wasnt there a DBZ CCG on the GBA or something? Whatever, if you want a good pseudo 3D-ish 2D fighter, grab up Tekken Advance. It at least plays like a real fighting game, and doesnt look like total crap ethier.

My beef with Tai-eh, what ever it is, was that it was a really bad clone of Mortal Kombat (Which, in my opinion, isn't to good to start with.) It's just so...horrible. Look at Vegeta. He's balding in this game. I can't think of one good thing to say about this game aside from the fact that I liked the box art.

Agreed...I paid for that game aswell.....I'd rather have an hundred-pack of plastic forks to throw at my ceiling than play that game again...one day, there will be a good Yu Yu Hakusho game.....someday @_@Hao_Kaiser wrote:Rocketman wrote:I played it long enough to unlock everything.quote]
I did the same thing, and I died inside every second.
I only bought the game with that old Yu-Yu Hakisho(SP?) game together for about $20. Thats some money I'd like to have back.

I was so excited when I first got my hands on that game, I even went out and got myself a device that allowed me to play my gameboy games on my Game Cube just so I could play it on the big screen. God how sorrowfully I was dissapointed...The only thing I really enjoyed was being able to play as blue haired SSJ Broli, and using Gotenks Boo-Boo Volley Ball technique.
