i could swear i heard " holy cosmos" some were and promptly swiched back was srue the reivew on here metioned it as well , i didnt torture myself with that Japense track for nothing
Huh? The 1999 dub is NOWHERE to be found on the Season sets. On both the JP score and US broadcast track, the voice performances have been redone. Chris Sabat redubbed Vegeta and Burter, Sonny Strait redubbed all of Krillin's lines, Linda Young and Stephanie Nadolny redubbed Frieza and Gohan up to a certain point. Whatever slip-in from the 1999 dub is all in your head, apparently.mikezilla2 wrote:No, the Faulconer audio track had the redubbed voices too. Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Clearly, he doesn't like the Japanese score. Nothing wrong with that.

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Okay, so now that we have the actual Blu-Ray shot I was looking for... What the hell?
Dragon Box:

Blu-Ray(downscaled):

So... Why the hell are the lines in the background on the Blu-Ray shot so different? I'm certain I got the right frame on the Dragon Box, I couldn't get one that looked exactly like this (unless MPC was skipping a frame or something), so what happened?
Does FUNi's film look like this? I notice damage towards the bottom of the Dragon Box frame... Don't tell me that they are just redrawing those damaged portions of the film without knowing how the details there are supposed to look...
The only way to be sure is to have that exact Piccolo shot as well. I know for sure that exact frame wasn't on the Dragon Boxes (the bottom looks pulled from the next frame).

Hey... are these AVC or VC-1 encoded?
Also, it's very cool that if you downscale the bluray, it's now the sharpest image.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
I find these excessively grainy; it seems to me that these come from the same masters that the Ultimate Uncut edition do. Only the difference is they've cleaned the film damage and unzoomed the footage, I guess? Well, even if I'm wrong about that (it's possible the UUCs just came from their tapes) I hope I'm not alone in being reminded of their colors/grain intensity.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
I don't see any difference other than the lines being sharper.

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
It's AVC. AVCHD refers to a specific file format/setup that uses AVC.SSJMan wrote:Its avchdect5150 wrote:Hey... are these AVC or VC-1 encoded?

For anyone who can't see what I'm talking about in terms of detail discrepancy between the BR's and the DBOX, I made images that show where to look to see the different details:

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Only one thing could make me run out and buy this before bigger sets come out, and that is: has the japanese audio been approved at all?
Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
I not sure I going buy it at all I have nothing against anyone who does. But I personally like the DBOX colours which this does not have.

Freeza vs Goku is unaltered and hammy as ever, while everyone around them (Accept Kaio, I take it, being voiced by Schmmeul) was redubbed. There's the problem.jjgp1112 wrote:Huh? From what I can tell, this is a direct copy of the menu file on the disc, and that's not cool. For legal reasons, we'd prefer that you just posted a few screenshots from the menu instead.SSJMan wrote:I have uploaded the video of the blu ray menu.

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
I am sorry. I was going to upload the Japanese audio as well. But i might as well just tell you. The Japanese audio does sound better because of better compression . But It is still sounds just as muffled. Not worth getting if the only reason was to have better sound in JapaneseTripleRach wrote:From what I can tell, this is a direct copy of the menu file on the disc, and that's not cool.
