How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
First started with all the orange bricks. Went back and collected a few old DVD singles (I love Dale Kelly's Ginyu), Dragon Box's four and five. Now Kai. Still thinking about getting the Z Blu-Rays or not.

Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
Here’s the history of the DB/DBZ/DBGT releases I’ve bought over the years…
The entire DB series once (Funi Saga releases, except for the first 13/31 episodes, which was twice – Trimark/Funi saga release + Blue Brick season one)
DB movies 1, 3, & 4 twice (movie 1 Trimark/Funi saga release + single DVD, movies 3 & 4 single + part of DB movie box)
DB movie 2 once (part of DB movie box)
The entire DBZ series twice (The complete individual DVD releases with the collector’s boxes as they came out + Dragon Boxes)
The first 6 DBZ movies once (original singles)
Both DBZ tv-specials twice (original singles)
The entire DBGT series once (mock seasons 1 & 2 releases)
The DBGT tv-special once (part of the mock season 2 release)
Here’s my current DB/DBZ/DBGT collection:

^Contains:
Dragon Ball - Complete Series:
- TV Series volume 1 (The Saga of Goku + Movie 1: Curse of the Blood Rubies / Edited)
- Funimation Season One
- Complete Funimation Saga releases
Dragon Ball Movie 1: Curse of the Blood Rubies
Dragon Ball Movie 2: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle
Dragon Ball Movie 3: Mystical Adventure
Dragon Ball Movie 4: The Path to Power
Dragon Ball Z (Complete Dragon-Boxes 1-7)
Dragon Ball Z TV Special #1 – Bardock: The Father of Goku
Dragon Ball Z TV Special #2 – The History of Trunks
Dragon Ball GT (Complete Remastered "Mock Seasons 1 & 2" + TV Special)
I am very much looking forward to/hoping for a US Dragon Box release for the DBZ movies
BTW, does anyone know of a legitimate viewing guide that details all of DB/DBZ/DBGT including all movies & specials as to where they best fall within the series (episode-wise), so as to get the most out of watching it from beginning to end?

Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
I've only bought the Dragon Box releases. There were various reasons as to why I didn't purchase any of the other releases.
As for other media, I've bought the blue bricks and the steelbook sets.

I have a Dragon Ball collection of sorts which can be seen here.

I bought singles of movie 2, movie 3, and the uncut version of movie one.
Then I bought the Dragon Ball movie box set, and the double feature box set.
Other than that, I don't buy stuff

Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
Well, looking up the airdates for all the episodes and specials, and comparing those with the release-dates for each movie over on Kanzentai, this is what I ended up with:Jusenkyo_Guide wrote:BTW, does anyone know of a legitimate viewing guide that details all of DB/DBZ/DBGT including all movies & specials as to where they best fall within the series (episode-wise), so as to get the most out of watching it from beginning to end?
Of course, watching it in this order also means that the movies end up spoiling future events of the TV-series at some points... How is it that Toei seems to take it for granted that everyone reads the manga, to the extent that they make absolutely no effort to hide what's coming up... Oh wait they do that for shows that aren't based off pre-existing stories as well. *Remembers Digimon Tamers episode 33, where the preview very blatantly stated that "OH NO LEOMON DIES NEXT WEEK!!"Dragon Ball

Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
I've bought the series in it's entirety twice: the season sets and the Dragon Boxes, but I bought a fair chunk of the Frieza VHS tapes when they were the only way to view the material. I think, with the Dragon Boxes essentially being the "perfect" release of the series (like the dub, not particularly fond of the Faulconer score), I don't think there is any need to triple dip and invest in the Blu-rays. As for the movies, I have all of the steelbook releases and am just missing the new Curse of the Blood Rubies release and, of course, the Jump Anime Special.
I also have the entirety of Dragon Ball and GT in the season sets (passed on the GT complete series set for obvious reasons) and have no plans to double dip unless FUNimation decides to do Dragon Boxes for them.

Couple of singles, Season sets, Dragon Box.
Every now and then, though, I look at my DBox collection and think, "...why the fuck do I own the entirety of Z in 2 different releases?"

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
I bought a chunk of the singles. I can't recall which, but it's most of the Boo Arc starting with the Tournament and ending with Kid Boo, But I don't have all of them, and Babidi is the only one I have the actual set of with the boxed set casing. My copy of "Rivals" from that set is signed by Ryo Horikawa.
I also got just the first volume of the "Ultimate Uncuts". And mine is a screener copy that a friend of mine who ran a comic book shop got, it's only got the English dub on it, so beyond checking out the uncut-ness, I never really watched it.
Then I got the Orange Bricks... I believe we were trapped and this was the only Consistent DBZ release we'd ever get... so I bought them all... Those I sold and got rid of tho when the DBoxes came out
And that's what I have now. All 7 DBoxes.
I've never bought Dragon Ball. I was going to pick up the Seasons, but then the DBox Zs got announced, so I'm waiting to see if we get anything original-series related for DBoxes.
I would ONLY EVER Buy GT if a DBox was released. Not to own DBGT, but literally just to support FUNimation's DBoxes. The better the DBoxes sell, the higher the possibility FUNi may give us more DBoxes for other parts of the series (DB and the Movies)

I don't know i say it is worth triple dipping especially if you want your Dragon Boxes to remain in great shape. I personally realize that if i watched the Dragon Boxes Z as many times as i did the orange bricks they would not last. That was when I decided to pick up Level 1.1 and the quality is great. I prefer the dragon box colors but these blu rays colors are more accurate and best of all they can be scratched multiple times and it doesnt matter!!
Thank you Blu Rays YAY!!!!!!!!

Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
I don't have all of these anymore (but I do still have most of this) but I have bought:
1) The Pioneer/FUNi VHS set for the first two "seasons" in the ocean dub
2) The FUNimation VHS set for the Ginyu set, and through "super saiyan goku" on VHS (at this point I was waiting for DVDs), and the two trunks set VHS tapes (because I'm a hopeless trunks fanboy). I sold all of these later to a pawn shop
3) movies 1-3 on Pioneer VHS (also later sold to the same pawn shop)
4) movies 1-3 Pioneer release DVD
5) The entire run of FUNimations single DVD releases (when I got the first two orange bricks I gave away the two ginyu DVDs to a charity drive)
6) FUNimation release of DBZ Movies 4-13 singles
7) Ultimate Uncut Vegeta Saga I complete set (never got any of Vegeta Saga II due to the quick announcement of the orange bricks)
Orange Bricks 1 and 2 (later given away to a friend when I started getting the dragon boxes)
9) Dragon Box complete set (7 is in the mail from amazon xD)
1) The Pioneer/FUNi VHS set for the first two "seasons" in the ocean dub
2) The FUNimation VHS set for the Ginyu set, and through "super saiyan goku" on VHS (at this point I was waiting for DVDs), and the two trunks set VHS tapes (because I'm a hopeless trunks fanboy). I sold all of these later to a pawn shop

Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
2 times over, but the Dragon Box Z's are really my first full collection of the series. I have most of the singles, but I never finished the Cell Game singles I'm missing the last two Buu singles and I have none of the Sayianman saga singles. I heard about the Japanese Dragon Box Z's in 2003 so I stopped collecting the singles waiting for those to eventually make it out over here (US).

Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
DB (series): Never. Still waiting for an adequate release. Slightly zoomed in alone isn't too bad, but that coupled with wrong intro/ closing animations, iffy colors/ DVNR/ blurring, etc really breaks the deal for me.
DB (movies): see above
DBZ (series): Began with only a few Cell arc DVD Singles, the VHS of Goku's SS3 transformation, and that's where my collecting of the series ended, at least for a few years. When the Orange Bricks came out, I believe I got seasons 5-7 or 6-8. Then the Dragon Boxes came out and I pre-ordered them all
Missing my beloved childhood rendition of DBZ, and being the videophile I am, naturally, the Blu-ray Sets are a must-have for me.
DBZ (movies): Began with the FUNi Edited VHS's of Lord Slug and the Cooler movies. I later purchased the Broly DVD's as they were released. At some point, I guess I "grew out" of DBZ and sold my DVD's/ VHS's. Jumped back into the game after seeing some of the Orange Bricks, with the Steelbook sets. Collected those on DVD and once I got a Blu-ray player, I sold those and switched to the Blu-rays. I've also gone back to collect all the FUNi Single DVD's for their fullscreen novelty.
DBGT: Began with just the DVD Single that had Uub re-combining with Majin Buu, since that was the first episode I'd ever seen. It had been on the International Channel, so it had the original music, which I LOVE
Then I went on to buy the Super Android 17 saga and borrowed the other DVD's from friends. After the "growing out of" phase, my love for the series was reignited in the form of the Season Sets. Since purchasing those, I found out about the title cards only available in the Singles so I've gone back and bought the Single sets, since they're now MUCH cheaper than when they first came out. Also, when the "Complete Series" set came out, I sold the two Seasons to buy the whole set, since I like having the entire series in one package.
GT Special: Didn't actually know of its existence until I bought Season 2, then again in the Complete Series set.
To sum all of that up:
DB: 0
DBZ series: 1, going on 2
DBZ movies: 3
DBGT: 3
DBGT Special: 2
DB (movies): see above
DBZ (series): Began with only a few Cell arc DVD Singles, the VHS of Goku's SS3 transformation, and that's where my collecting of the series ended, at least for a few years. Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
I have bought A lot of Dragonball Z stuff
I'm just going to type out my DVD collection sense my camera doesn't work
All of the original DVD singles
yo! The Return of son Goku and friends
Dragonball z the overview special(I'm so happy I have this rare piece)
Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans Dragonbox DVD( A friend of mine made me a copy and burned it too disc)
Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans Remake on disc(unofficial)
All 9 seasons of the orange bricks
All of the remastered steal-sets(except the cooler set)
Dragonball movie 4 pack
2 boxes of the original ocean dub DVD's(which is 53 episodes)
Dragonbox 1 , 2,(working on the rest)
Dragonball Z kai the original DVD's 1 , 2 , 3 , 4
Both seasons of the Green Dragonball GT season sets
Not going to get into the VHS tapes/movies for obvious reasons
And that about wraps it up
I like to think of my self as pretty big Dragonball fan lol
Also I know some may be thinking ''where is the Dragonball season sets?''
And I have the answer - I sold them to my brother because he loves the original and I'm waiting and preying for the Dragonball Dragonbox
Will I be buying the Blu-ray releases of Dragonball Z? I'm not going to lie to myself or anyone else. I probably will

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
Wow, some of you guys have some crazy collections(espesically you, Tanooki!). I myself own a good mixture of the releases. The Dragonboxes would be the first time I've owned the entire series.
So, I guess this is my list.
Funimation Singles:
Ginyu dvds
The first 7 Freeza dvds
The Trunks dvds
The Android dvds
The Perfect Cell dvds
the world tournament dvds
the first 2 babidi dvds
The Original Pioneer dvd movies
Movies 4 and 6.
The TV Specials
Db movie 3
The Orange Bricks Season 1-3
Blu Ray:
The Double Features of movie 1+2, 7+9, 12+13. the TV specials
Dragonball Z Kai(Parts 1-6, plan on finishing these of course!)
The Dragonboxes
And that's pretty much it. Waiting on hopefully a dragonbox release of the original series. And as far as why I don't have any GT stuff--don't want it, don't care for it, doesn't exist to me.
Well, that pretty much sums it up.

I've only bought the same thing 6 different times and if funimation or toei ever puts the dragon boxes on blu ray it will be seven is that too many times not for this series it isn't lol!!
Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
Scattered Pioneer DVD's, Funi's single disc uncut releases, Orange Bricks, Dragon Boxes, Blu Ray movie releases, steelbooks of some movies and specials, Blu Ray Season sets, several volumes of the manga. I paid some dues.
Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?
The only thing I own more than once is the Kid Buu arc, because I have both the box set for that and Dragon Box 7.
Rocketman wrote:"Shonen" basically means "stupid sentimental shit" anyway, so it's ok to be anti-shonen.
