Would they be worth over $1,000 once they are practically impossible to find? I mean, yes they are limited, but at this rate they are going to cost more than buying the original Japanese Dboxes.

For much less than that, you could get the corresponding Japanese singles (8-14), plus the corresponding orange bricks (2 and 3?) for subtitles and dub audio. You'd still be missing subtitles for the previews, no Dragon Book, and it wouldn't fit into a collection quite the same way, but I think most people would take that over a $1,000 price tag for 42 episodes.

Anyone who wants to spend that kind of money on Dragon Ball DVDs would just buy the Japanese boxes instead. You could probably get both big Z boxes for $1,000, and maybe even have some money leftover for dirt cheap orange bricks (for subtitles and whatnot).

Yeah, that's what I think. The people selling them on eBay are getting too greedy. Though I doubt anyone will buy it for $1,000, you never know...

It does suck that they are getting discontinued, since if anyone were to need a replacement for a faulty Dbox, they might not be able to get one. Not to mention the people who own only the first few boxes won't be able to complete their collection. Luckily I got all mine while they were being released.

I shop at RAC's all the time! Great store, good customer service, and Bob is a super-great guy! But I wouldn't say "every(!) DBox for normal price" as his price on DBox 2 is $89, still better than the current price on Amazon or eBay though... that's for sure!

I can also vouch for roberts anime corner store, I buy the vast majority of my anime there because the service is amazing and the selection and shipping cannot be beaten. However, the price as noted earlier on dbox 2 is not at normal price.

The reason for this, is that when Robert runs out of stock on something he will attempt to buy backup stock from other places that ends up increasing the price. He still has the Geneon Tenchi Muyo DVDs but they cost like three hundred bucks. So yeah, other then dbox 2 I can safely reccomend RACS. That said, he will keep dbox 2 in stock well after its gone eveywhere else and "generally" be cheaper than ebay scalpers.

You guys realize that it's threads like this that are causing these gouges, right? Look at the last few pages. The sellers are hoping at least a few people who are panicking over nothing hit a ludicrous Buy-It-Now in the midst of the drama.

Contrary to what you believe Tony the object of this post was not to get the Dragon Boxes to rise, like your ignorant fool seems to believe. It was to give everyone a heads up so they could complete their collection. Whether you want to believe this fact of the Dragon Boxes being limited is your opinion and up to you. But suggesting that my post is the reason for this increase is something only an ignorant fool would say!!!

What's funny is that the initial notification of yours that the Dragon Boxes are discontinued is not a problem in the least. It's perfectly worthwhile information. So I can't help but be dumbfounded that you took such dramatic offense to something not even targeted at you. As you can see, I referred to the "last few pages." If I thought I needed to be extra clear that the overall alarmist tone that developed within the thread was to blame rather than any particular post/user I would have done so. But I had assumed that was easily inferred from what I typed.

Listen, if anybody wants to jump on the sets right here and now then that's their choice and I hope they manage to acquire them. But I was simply offering a warning to everybody to not be taken in by clearly opportunistic price gouges looking to take advantage of the initial frenzy.

I've been selling a lot of stuff on eBay lately to not only reduce the clutter in my room, but to also afford all of the Dragon Box sets. I currently have 1, 3, and 4 in my possession with 2 on its it way to my house. I was able to make a killing off the stuff I've sold already so I just sent out an order for volumes 5-7 today. Should be here Saturday and I can't wait to breath a sigh of relief that I finally have them all and didn't break the bank to do it.

I'm no expert, but I would think so. I can honestly only see the oldest Dragon Boxes (like Box 2) going out of stock earliest as it wouldn't make much sense for the sets to not have at least a similar production run, otherwise there would be people who wouldn't even have a chance of getting the complete set.

I picked up a new copy of Vol.2 right before it started to go too ridiculously just recently, and I just received it. Funny enough, the Amazon seller who sold it apparently works at Funimation, because it was mailed from their offices...

Also, when they release series like this, generally speaking, the amount they print gets smaller and smaller as it continues. That's why it's really easy to find stuff like Cardcaptor Sakura vol. 1 and not vol. 18 or whatever insane number that show went up to.

My suggestion (for ebay in general): Don't ever bid if there's still a lot of time left. All it will do is raise the price for yourself, especially if there's a lot of time left and a lot of other bidders. Wait until the last 10-5 seconds to bid if your going to bid at all.
