I don't know if bestbuy.ca actually ships outside of Canada but if any Canadian wants Dragon Box 2 there is still one left in stock for $49.99CDN.

http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/dra ... e32f4cen02

Edit: I just looked on their site and unfortunately they do not ship outside of Canada as I thought.

...They're all still quite cheap on Amazon:

Except for #2 of course. Why that one, I wonder?

I don't know. I would assume that there were equal amounts of each Dragon Box made, so why #2 would go first boggles my mind. I quite honestly don't even like that portion of Z, especially the Ginyu Force part.

It's because the original season 2 Orange Brick had the worst video quality of the bunch, well that's my guess. I agree though, it covers the worst portion of the Z series.

I thought that too, as well as thinking it was the only way to get the Namek saga uncut in fullscreen since the Orange Bricks were cropped/over-filtered and the Ocean Dub releases were edited, until now with the upcoming Level Blu-ray sets.

The shrink wrap is in terrible shape. Scratches everywhere as they've had this one since release day. The actual box underneath the shrink wrap is perfectly fine though!
You ordered it on-line right?

Can I ask when you ordered it, and if it was "back-ordered" when you did?

If you are just now getting it, you may have ordered it 2-4 weeks before I did, If we ordered it the same way.

Repeating: The DBoxes were said to have been a "limited run" as early as when Dragon Box 2 was first showing signs of being low in stock - which was a mere few weeks after it's release IIRC (This initial panic was part of what got me to start collecting these DBoxes when I did, as opposed to waiting until all 7 were out). This is presumed to be part of the deal FUNi had with Toei, since their word is that Toei resisted allowing US fans access to the DBox in the first place. No amount of popularity would bring it back as it originally was, if that's the case.
That being said, it'd be much more appropriate to think it -is- a popular set if the low supply led to things such as this. Other things with low print runs or that go out of print normally take a lot longer to get "Collection Investors" trying to scalp money out of poor saps for these items.

Anyhow, I just got DBox 7 and my set is complete.

Dbox 7 seems to be "Under Review" on Amazon again.. I've only ever seen these under review messages with the Dragonboxes. What's up with that?

Anyway, I don't think 5-7 will be out of print anytime soon. Especially 7 since it just released less than a month ago. It would be stupid to have Dbox 1 out for about two years or so now but Dbox 7 for only a few months..

I would get 1-4 (good luck with 2) right now because those have been out for a while, but I wouldn't worry about 5-7 just yet. I give it about a year from now to really start worrying about the latest sets.

I keep hearing about FUNimation discontinuing print for the Dragonboxes all over the internet but they really haven't given an official announcement of this yet.. you'd think they'd tell people themselves and not just discontinue them without warning.

I find it funny that people think that something released two weeks ago is going to be impossible to find now.

LOL exactly. Volume 7 came out on October 11th, that's less than a month ago. I find it ridiculous people are talking about it being out of print already. Are you kidding?? That would be worse than that Disney Vault thing.

Like I said, get 1-4 now, worry about 5-7 later. 5-7 are not going anywhere yet. Or until FUNi gives an official announcement that they discontinued all volumes now.

Yep, if you didn't pre-order it, it'll be hard to find.

They also do more than one printing (I assume) of each set. "Limited" doesn't mean "first-run only." The later boxes are likely continuing to be produced as we speak (write).

"Discontinued" means "no more printings".

Well I figured.

I got an e-mail today saying that my Best Buy order of DBox 2 had been canceled.

They aren't getting anymore. It has been discontinued.

Well...I guess I'll have to get one from Amazon eventually, and it looks like I'll have to pay over $100 for it no matter what...

I honestly feel bad for people like you. I feel lucky that I was informed about the Dragon Boxes halfway through their release and not just now starting to collect them.

Yea... well I'll still get them all, I'll just have to pay 2-3 times the original amount for DBox 2.

Hopefully there will be a new one that isn't over $100 some time on Amazon.

I can't wait to buy part 6 this weekend :D
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128
