Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Sticking with my singles because this release is in no way shape or form an apology for the cancellation of the Ultimate Uncuts. Until FUNimation does apologize, this is what I'm doing.

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
CartoonNetwork just aired a commercial for Level 1.1 I'm so happy.
GT isn't bad, just sucks ass in comparison to the other 2 animes.

I have the Kai DVD's and I was wondering if this set is worth picking up.

Eh. It really depends on your tastes. Me personally, will only pick up the Buu sets for this release, and then get it all at the re-release.
Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
I would wait for a two pack/season set. Otherwise, it is without a doubt worth it. It's grainier than the Dragon Boxes, but much sharper, has a higher bitrate, and actually shows a bit more footage.Ani-Nation7 wrote:I have the Kai DVD's and I was wondering if this set is worth picking up.

This I also agree with. I'm glad these are around now that the DBoxes are discontinued instead of the bricks.Pokewhiz7 wrote:I would wait for a two pack/season set. Wait CN is going to be airing Dragonball Z again? Maybe the new Thundercats has got CN thinking of actually putting stuff back on their channel that's worth something again. I personally like the new Thundercats
I mean I could careless if they show it or not, But I like to see new audiences getting introduced to the old shows.
I hope they get it

I hope they get it

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

...That's the conclusion you jumped to just due to them airing a commercial for a Blu-Ray of the show?samuraix123 wrote:Wait CN is going to be airing Dragonball Z again?

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
For those curious about the video bitrate, since it came up in deep conversation earlier in the thread.
It's nowhere near the 30 one person said it was (and 30 would have been unnecessary.) Doing a scan of the first episode shows it to be a smidge under 22. Roughly what you would expect for this kind of content.
Figured that is all people really wanted to know bitrate wise. If anyone wants more detailed information I'll post more.

I was on the fence about picking up the Kai Blu Rays after the scandal broke out but these should be good...

Finally got it. First thing I noticed or anyone would notice is that it is grainy as HELL... The quality is gorgeous... but it really is grainy

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Mad that chala head chala isn't in the opening for the english dub but that doesn't surprise me as everything was stated in the interview as it's pretty much the orange box sets but with superior finger licking good video (sorry ate chicken and was watching a KFC commercial for some reason ^O^)
Saw it at walmart today and my bank closed before I could go withdraw cash as my debit's not linked to my savings, oh well know what I'm doing tomorrow.
My whole take on this is that this is the dragonbox equivalent video quality wise(maybe even better since it's true hd) for the US version and I kinda want to hear the true hd audio.
Can anyone tell me if ALL the audio tracks were remastered in True HD Aduio(7.1) or was that only the US broadcast music.

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Any chance we can get some comparison shot's of the Blu-Ray release vs the season sets?

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
There's a video on youtube comparing dragon box and 1.1, I think they both look great and 1.1 seems to have more video^^
As for video good question as I'd like to see some season comparisons myself considering both 1.1 and the season sets used the same film masters.
