Was she going to voice Freeza? Then I'm glad it got taken away from her, I'd hate for Freeza to sound like a granny again.Gozar wrote:I whole heartily agree. It was taken because she apparently couldn't keep up or something like that. I prefer Ayres anyways.

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Huh. I'm just going to go ahead and say this. I'm not gonna buy these sets, but I think this image quality is superior to the Dragon Box. Now, does that make up for the Japanese sound? I'm not quite sure.
Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Pretty much my feelings as well. From everything I've seen (which, admittedly, hasn't been an ideal comparison), FUNimation's Blu-Ray looks better than the Dragon Boxes. The colors are more natural, there's more image and the lines are much sharper. The durability of Blu-Rays is also a plus; I don't like having to worry about screwing up a single disc of my only Dragon Ball DVD collection.batistabus wrote:Huh. That said, I don't know if it's enough of a difference to lay down for the entire series again. Maybe at some point way down the road when the Blu-Rays are repackaged in more manageable sets and I have some extra cash lying around. And I'm definitely waiting to find out how the quality of the Japanese track might affect my assessment.

I highly doubt that.Ani-Nation7 wrote:He's saying that's how a lot of the American fans feel.

Sadly youtube disagrees with you Agito...
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
And 1.1 officially wins. Those subtitles look pretty sweet, too.Ani-Nation7 wrote:For people who don't want to download the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6bnj1jdJ8Q

And fans who actually care about the dub voices/music specifically are still a niche within a niche. Just because they're loud doesn't mean they're many.Gozar wrote:This community is but a mere blip on the American fanbase radar. Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
You know I'm gotta be honest...and I'm probably the only one who'll say this but 17 episode sets work out for me...really nice. I won't get burned out watching the individual sets.
Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Try looking around the DragonBall panel rooms at conventions. 85% of the people in there are screaming either "It's Over 9000" or ridiculous TeamFourStar quotes. They're the type of people who couldn't spell "Masako Nozawa", let alone know who she is. This is your general DragonBall public and this is who FUNimation is catering to. Why do you think after finally making so many strides in a positive direction with the franchise they are now back pedaling to Toonami like trailers and the Faulconer music?JulieYBM wrote:And fans who actually care about the dub voices/music specifically are still a niche within a niche. Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
No they are not. The general public doesn't go conventions. The reason DB is so popular is because a large number who enjoy it who aren't part of this niche.Gozar wrote:Try looking around the DragonBall panel rooms at conventions. 85% of the people in there are screaming either "It's Over 9000" or ridiculous TeamFourStar quotes. You're right. The general public DOESN'T go to cons. The general public is even more ignorant than those fans.AgitoZ wrote:No they are not. The general public doesn't go conventions. I don't think they're ignorant. They just don't care, like at all. Which you know what, good for them.Gozar wrote:You're right. The general public DOESN'T go to cons. The general public is even more ignorant than those fans.

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Can anyone tell me if the 1.1 trailer is on this Blu-Ray set?(I like it) like in the extra's or something? Anyway I'm defiantly going to be picking these Blu-Ray sets up, And finely getting rid of those stupid orange bricks. But I still love my Dragon-Boxes
That's the thing with me, I love the original Japanese And I love the Funimation Dub and music so both are a win win situation for me

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I agree! There are more important things to do than obsess over small details in a Japanese cartoon... *reevaluates own life*AgitoZ wrote:I don't think they're ignorant. Yeah, apparently she was replaced with Ayres because she couldn't say the lines fast enough. And man, Ayres was freaking amazing.dbboxkaifan wrote:Was she going to voice Freeza? So, when do you think 2.1 will be announced?

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
I believe that he's referring to FUNimation's series of "promotional" DBKAI interviews (found on their YouTube channel) with Schemmel and Sabat, where the latter does in fact mention that Young apparently could not keep up with the new dialogue.

Hm, weird excuse. It's not like Freeza speaks at Excel Saga speeds in Kai. ;pLi'l Lemmy wrote:I believe that he's referring to FUNimation's series of "promotional" DBKAI interviews with Schemmel and Sabat, where the latter does in fact mention that Young apparently could not keep up with the new dialogue.
