Goku sucks as a family man, that's easy to call... he never really wanted a family, doesn't fit with him, he is too innocent for his own good
He seems to be more of a friend to Gohan than actually his dad, as opposed to Goten, since he had time to follow his second child's teen years, but everyone turned okay I guess!
And it might be cultural, I don't know, how are japanese family ties? I never really thought they regardaded family as an extremely important beacon-of-my-life sort of thing like we do in the west, at least that's the feeling I get from watching movies and stuff..

Re: Goku's Fault?
I'm still very close with my family in the East, it's very important and that's the way I feel about it. I actually say it's more important than it is in the west.Gohaz wrote:Goku sucks as a family man, that's easy to call... he never really wanted a family, doesn't fit with him, he is too innocent for his own good

As for Goku, he didn't ask or want it. I do feel he would have wanted a son to carry on the saya-jin race as he still would have found out even if he didn't marry Chi Chi.

I don't know, this doesn't seem like something he'd particularly care about.I do feel he would have wanted a son to carry on the saya-jin race
To be honest, this sounds more like something Vegeta would think .
Re: Goku's Fault?
As I have said in another topic, Goku is FAR from a horrible Father but he isn't the perfect Father either.
Sure, he may not be your typical "Honey, I'm Home!" type of guy but he cares greatly enough for his Family. He sure as hell provides for the Family what with the amount of large fish he can catch as an example. He spent 3 of the 9 days with his family, even cashing indirectly on the promise he made to Gohan that they would go fishing sometime.
Adventurous as Goku was, even he can learn the importance of family and up until the arrival of Raditz, they seemed to be doing pretty well on their own
It's kinda strange when you think about something like Goku's family. There's Gohan and Goten. Chi Chi. Ox King. Add on the Saiyan race and I guess technically you can add Piccolo to that mix as well since it seems Gohan thinks of him as his 'Big Green Uncle' of sorts.

That's precisely why ordinary men pursue the concept of perfection, it's infatuation. But ultimately I have to ask myself "What is the true meaning of being perfect?" and the answer I came up with was nothing. Not one thing. The truth of the matter is I despise perfection! If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Scientist's agonize over the attempt to achieve perfection! That's the kind of creatures we are! We take joy in trying to exceed our grasp, in trying to reach for something that in the end, we have to admit may in fact be unreachable!"
