Yamamoto Score Still Available?
Yamamoto Score Still Available?
I'm kind of late on watching Kai, and I was curious about the Yamamoto score for the series. Are the Blu-Ray "part" sets with the Yamamoto score still available, or have they all been replaced with Kikuchi? For example, Amazon has a "Saiyan Set" that has parts 1 and 2 bundled together; would this still have the Yamamoto score?
I am aware that according to the Yamamoto Feature on the site, it says that starting with Part 5, it will have Kikuchi, and the Yamamoto score for those episodes onward aren't available in America.

Parts 1 to 4 - Yamamoto DBK BGM
Parts 5 to 8 - Kikuchi DBZ BGM
FUNimation decided to delay Part 5 due to having replacing with the DBZ BGM.
While Part 5 does not contain Yamamoto's DBK BGM, in its slipcover/cover it features Yamamoto's name, guess they didn't want to waste any more paper so, this is how it is.
FUNimation really needs to get serious, they screwed up DBZ Kai Season One and now because of that set, any related releases will get pushed back.

I might be a bit late but what do you mean when you say that Funimation screwed up season one?

Season One was supposed to feature the Kikuchi BGM but some (?) of the discs came with the Yamamoto BGM instead.
Is this why there are no new copies of Season One on Amazon right now?

@Kendamu - That is my understanding of the situation.
So, is there a particular first set that anybody would recommend getting that would be representative of his music? This way I could watch and listen to it and decide whether to get the rest of them.

So wait... the new season one sets still feature the Yamamoto ost?.... lol Funimation.
Fuck, they might as well just release the entire series with the Yamamoto music...

Re: Yamamoto Score Still Available?
That never happens because Toei must have given FUNi the masters only with the Kikuchi score after the scandal.Kibito_Kai wrote:Fuck, they might as well just release the entire series with the Yamamoto music...
Re: Yamamoto Score Still Available?
And Toei probably trashed the masters for the Yamamoto versions anyway.

How do you make suppositions like that? It's highly doubtful that they trashed it. If anything, they're probably legally obligated to keep them in case they need to refer to them legally somehow.

It's not like they're taking up huge amounts of space either; they're just files on a hard drive...

I would assume raw files does take huge amounts of space...Pokewhiz7 wrote:It's not like they're taking up huge amounts of space either; they're just files on a hard drive...

But not physical space.
Re: Yamamoto Score Still Available?
For audio? In this day and age? With lossless compression formats like FLAC around?sangofe wrote:I would assume raw files does take huge amounts of space...Pokewhiz7 wrote:It's not like they're taking up huge amounts of space either; they're just files on a hard drive...
Not really.

I know raw video does.Puto wrote:For audio? In this day and age? Re: Yamamoto Score Still Available?
Yes, video takes a crapton of space. Audio doesn't.

Re: Yamamoto Score Still Available?
Yeah audio itself does not, but things are not that simple. They must have once made the masters that contain combined footage and audio with the Yamamoto score. I guess Toei still store them, but maybe they could be already overwritten. Probably they also have tons of broadcast masters (HDCAM-SR tapes I guess) sent back from Fuji TV and other local TV stations. It's not simple like just storing some WAV or AIFF files.Puto wrote:Yes, video takes a crapton of space. Audio doesn't.

Just to note, Amazon bundle came out the same time as part 2 so this isn't a new set.ricecake wrote:I'm kind of late on watching Kai, and I was curious about the Yamamoto score for the series. I think they don't care about the space much as company this size have a disc space of I don't know how many tera bytes inside or below the building.
We are small publishing house with few people in office and have around 16 terabytes for data, I can't imagine how much TOEI must have for example.
