Mr. Popo's Power Level

Post by funrush » Wed Nov 23, 2011 8:23 pm

Reading around Kanzentai, I came across this guide, saying that Mr. Popo's power level was 1,030. If this was the case, how come he didn't help to fight Raditz? It is shown that Kami oversaw it, if Mr. Popo might have had knowledge of the fight, why didn't he try to help?

He had his reasons.

He said that when Goku asked him why he didnt fight Daimao.

That's also likely his level after training the humans for a year.

Not his job, he helps Kami oversee the human world...

Although I think his reasons for the Daimao case, is that Kami and Daimao were one and the same

He and Kami "try" not to interfere with events of mortal life. No matter how grave the outcome.

As Kami once stated.
It would not do for any man to begin saying, 'If things get bad, god will fix it.' In the end, Earthlings must depend on their own power to find their way through.
The same goes for Popo.

And they don't call it the lookout for nothing.

I believe that Kami and Mr. Popo are not allowed to do certain things. Not quite sure what would stop them, but Kami once mentioned that a God cannot commit suicide.

To me it sounds very implausible. Mr. Popo is quite a mysterious character, his battle power being unpredictable doesn't surprise me.

I don't see how that is implausible?

Might be, but I somehow doubt it. We already know he was stronger than Piccolo Daimao, probably by a good deal.

Then again, if he really was that strong, than Goku , after training with him for 3 years should have been a lot stronger than Piccolo Jr.

The problem with Popo's level being that strong comes from these statements:
Chapter: 164, P7.1-3
Goku: “Amazin’…Mister Popo, you really are incredible! That’s why I couldn’t beat ya!”
Popo: “Heh, well…Mister Popo has learned a whole, whole lot from God. That’s why I’m great.”
Goku: “So this ‘God’ guy is even more amazin’!?”
Popo: “Of course. God is far, far more incredible.”
Chapter: 182, P9.5
Piccolo: “Truly Son Goku is nothing but an obstacle for me…Far more so than God, who had neglected his training.”

Chapter: 188, P4.5
God: “I-I can’t see them! Not even with my divine eyes!”
Context: said as Goku and Piccolo move around really fast
If Popo was at 1,030, and Kami is supposed to be far, far greater than him, then the Goku at the 23rd Budokai, who outclassed even Kami, shouldn't have had to worry about Raditz...

I wouldn't worry about that power level.

It came from the same source which put Piccolo Daimao>God and Piccolo Daimao>Tenshinhan (beginning of Z). Both of which are horribly wrong.

How is the second one wrong?

This is what Tenshinhan says about weighted Goku at the 23rd Budokai ;

"Son, you are truly incredible. 3 years ago, your strength was all but perfect. I’m amazed that you’ve managed to go so far above even that."

So that's effectively a weighted Goku>>Piccolo Daimao statement as Goku and Piccolo Daimao were fairly close in their last encounter.
Now Tenshinhan was more or less even with weighted Goku initially and then he started running rings around Goku after he went all out.

Tenshinhan(boZ)>Tenshinhan(23rd)>weighted Goku(23rd)>>Piccolo Daimao

So you're going off Tenshinhan bluffing as fact?

Bluffing about himself, I mean. He got his ass handed to him by Goku not even trying.

You're not really making any sense. Tenshinhan didn't bluff at all. He said that weighted Goku(23rd Budokai)>>Goku(post Chou God water) and he was around that level. The only time Goku didn't go all out against Tenshinhan was when he didn't have his weighted gear on.

He was talking about how he was going to win because Goku couldn't keep up with him and such. That was the only area Tenshinhan was able to gain an advantage in, and only because Goku was weighted. He was completely outclassed by Goku.

It's inconclusive either way to whether Daimao or Tenshinhan are stronger.

Goku wouldn't have removed his heavy clothes if he wasn't trying. He removed them because he felt the need to remove them in order to be able to face Tenshinhan.

Since its stated that Goku, even with his heavy clothes, was stronger than he was when he defeated Piccolo Daimao, Tenshinhan at the 23rd tournament was at the very least as strong as Piccolo Daimao, probably stronger. So, logically, at the beginning of Z 5 years later, Tenshinhan was stronger than Piccolo Daimao.

That's not bluffing. Before he taken off his weighted clothing he genuinely was 'doing him in'.

So it's inconclusive when Tenshinhan is shown to be running rings around weighted Goku and he was far stronger than Piccolo Daimao? lol

It just seems pretty ignorant to take the flawed Daizenshuu power levels which originated in a magazine which put Piccolo Daimao>Kami etc over manga statements.

He also said that Goku (while he had his heavy clothes) was stronger than he was when he defeated Piccolo Daimao. You seem to be missing this. Tenshinhan hadn't realized that Goku had heavy clothes on, but he still said that he was stronger than when he defeated Piccolo Daimao.
