As far as I'm concerned, unless they're pronouncing things like "En-uh-Yoo-shuh" for Inuyasha or "My-Rah-Kuh" for Miroku, they're done close enough to where you shouldn't be ridiculed for saying something differently. Even if you say "Shee-po" like in the japanese version or "Shi-po" like in the english version, is it really even THAT big of a deal?Jerseymilk wrote:Tell me about it! You don't know how annoying it is to be at a con, doing an anime related performance and be improperly corrected on the pronunciation of Shippo by dub IY fangirls in the audience.
Even in the case of DBZ, yeah, they say Dabura "Da-BOO-Ra" etc. etc., it's close enough isn't it? I HATE it when I see people, wether it be on the internet in general or in real life, getting on someone's case and being all "Oh I'm saying it correctly, therefore I'm a better fan, and you're an idiot who can't pronounce foreign words right".
Also, yes Chibi Mystic Gohan is correct on that part. There's no katakana for the 'v's since they just use the 'b's (most other languages pronounce v's as b's in words) and there's no katakana for 'l' since the r's are used for those.

Uh, excuse me, but I never said I was a better fan because I pronounced the name correctly. My point was that they corrected me during a performance(lighten up girls), and they were wrong. I was stating that people need to do their research before they go around spouting things like they're the right information.

Some of the same places that references Dabra as "Doubler" called Babidi "Badibee". So you know, take it all with a grain of salt.
Mmmm, salt....

Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!
I know, I wasn't reffering to you when I said that. I meant in general, or in other places I hear people talking like that.Jerseymilk wrote:Uh, excuse me, but I never said I was a better fan because I pronounced the name correctly.
