Anyone can add stuff to Wikipedia. The source link says nothing about it, more than likely it's an overzealous DBZ fan who recognized a bit of something and felt it was a reference.GS7X7 wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewie_Goes_for_a_Drive

It's like how Gurren Lagann fans who weren't mech fans before Gurren think every time a drill appears its a reference to the show and not something mech shows used for decades.

That reminds me of someone who insisted that Mythbusters made a Sonic The Hedgehog reference because the Narrator said "live and learn" (the name of some song in one of the games) in one episode.MarcFBR wrote:It's like how Gurren Lagann fans who weren't mech fans before Gurren think every time a drill appears its a reference to the show and not something mech shows used for decades.
That guy really needs to get out of the house if he thinks Sonic The Hedgehog invented that phrase.

Here's the episode.
9:05 begins the Manatee Joke that has the song in it.
9:54 has the song start playing.
There are a ton of Android dub theme songs. Does it sound like any? (or the Japanese ones?)

Doesn't matter if it sounds like any. If you watch sci-fi movies from that era music like that comes up all the time.GS7X7 wrote:There are a ton of Android dub theme songs. Does it sound like any? (or the Japanese ones?)

Well the song did play while an Android was on the screen. Maybe that's why the wikier added that.

I guess I can rule out #19's music with the psycho clown vibe. (this song's pretty badass though, lol)

No on 19's attack song. (The androids have some good beats!)

Mark Menza should have envy.... No on 20.... I think I'll just ask CRookie, he'd be the expert for any musical similarities.

^ Circus music? O.o
Even if it did, I wouldn't have noticed it because I don't listen/like the US DBZ FUNimation replacement music (for Ocean Dub I do), so I would've missed it anyhow.

Err no that is a parody of BladeRunner(the whole scene, not just the music). If anything the Faulconer score rips off Vangelis.
I'm actually not super familiar with the score but I do know we took from it. Here's some clips:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZKkxAQYxyE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQZvgd_qZC8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAwo7DPUFUM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RScZrvTebeA
And the "Faulconer" tracks I think of are:
Frieza's Theme:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJZWLvfay_g
Android 17& 18 theme
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hawi0DduXrI
btw personally I'm influenced by the Vince Dicola '86 Transformers score which is influenced by Vangelis.
(also the plot reminds me of Logan's Run, but not the music so much)

The Family Guy song -kinda- sounds like parts of this song. This is probably the DBZ song the wikier had in mind.

Yeah I think that's probably the one since he said Android theme(2nd one on my list above). There was a CN Toonami bumper that used a sample of that theme. That was a definite referenceGS7X7 wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hawi0DduXrI

Which Toonami bumper was that? I like to hear it.cRookie_Monster wrote:Yeah I think that's probably the one since he said Android theme(2nd one on my list above). I was stoked when I heard it because I think it's the only time they ever used any of the "Faulconer" music in the CN commercials. (17/18 theme is one of my "arrangements")

Uh, the one that used the 17&18 theme? ^^ haha sorry for the smart @#$ answer, but I don't know how to describe it any better. Was a typical one with the robot (voiced by Sonny Strait btw) and random clips from the show.
[Edit] I started searching through the vast quantities of toonami clips on youtube...it may not have had the robot at all. Might have been just a commercial bumper. Dunno, it's been a decade since I've seen it.[/Edit]

I think Toonzone has a complete archiving of every commercial for every show.... DBZ was popular so they should have those. (or am I thinking another site? I know there's one focused a lot on Cartoon Network....)

The only promos/trailers/clips we post are new ones we get as a part of PR. You're thinking of Toonami Digital Arsenal, probably.GS7X7 wrote:I think Toonzone has a complete archiving of every commercial for every show.... DBZ was popular so they should have those. Re: It seems Famiy Guy parodied a song from DBZ...
I'm not sure who did that song (several music guys listed) but you can find the music people in the credits.
Also, the "Android song" plays again right near the end before the credits.

I'm still curious if the song was related to the DBZ Android song.... maybe I'll try e-mailing one of the F.G. music guys later.

On the topic of Android music, I remember a few DBZ advertisements that used them.
IF Labs Toy Commercials

Android Saga VHS Commercial

There was a very small piece I can identify at the end for this commercial

And on the topic of Toonami, does anyone remember TOM's motivational speeches?
