Filters

Post by batistabus » Wed Dec 07, 2011 1:15 pm

I totally get the purpose of filters on words to get everyone on the same page.

I don't even know if this is possible, but could this filter be disabled for users with a certain number of posts? By then, the user should understand the purpose, and not use them to regularly discuss characters.

The only reason I'm inquiring about this is because of dub discussion. When debating name changes or other such topics, this becomes especially confusing in the case of Tien.

If not, it's obviously not a big deal.

I've seen others do this: If it's pertinent to the discussion at hand, there are ways around the filter. For example, insert some formatting code into the word, like Tien.

We do not have the capability to turn on or off filtering for select accounts or select reasons.

It serves a purpose (one that has been discussed ad nauseam), and will continue to serve that purpose up through the launch of this community's wiki. I recognize the examples you're talking about, but it will suffice as-is for now.

I too understand the filter, but don't you think it's at least a little childish to change Hercule to Hercule? I think it should be changed to Mister Satan, honestly.

We've changed it back and forth more times than I can count, all due to community requests. Again, please just accept it for a little while longer as-is. Thank you.
