Ugh, you're gonna have a hard time with that one. Personally, I'd recommend buying the individual releases from Amazon.co.jp, since they're roughly the same discs (sans some bells and whistles). The DragonBoxes are just gonna be too expensive after all this time (hence my preordering and taking care of them like they're my children :P).

Hmm..rent off netflix or blockbuster online? I think both have a good number of DBZ DVDs, but since not all the discs have been released I guess you would still be missing a few eps here and there.

5 if you wanna go mondo nuts and get the movies.

Hah... mondo.

It'll be really hard to find anything DB Box related on eBay. I've searched for DB for the past few months for dub DVDs, and the most I've found are the little extras you can get. I'm sure theres a chance you could find the individual releases. I think some one on the forum had one of the boxes up for sale, not sure if they've gotten rid of it yet.

Good luck.

I actually did get my first Dragon Box used. It was released March 2003, and I got it in June 2003 for $300 US. The guy I bought it from realized that he couldn't afford to keep it and was in a desperate situation to sell it. I'd say your best bet to finding a cheap Dragon Box is to find someone going bankrupt or something, otherwise you're never going to get one cheap (especially not Z Box Vol. 1, which is like the rarest of the rare).

Just keep hunting, you might get lucky!

Considering the first Dragon Box for Z came out in 2003, and it's still currently being sold for $1,000 used (I believe Amazon even gives you both sets for the same price), I don't think the price'll drop anytime soon. Unless you happen to hit a lucky streak. Considering it's now seen as a rare, collector's item, the price won't drop for a good long time.

Probably never. The box went out of print after pre-orders ended, and with the first box selling the least units, there's only so many out there. If you don't own one now, there's a good chance that you never will (hence why it might be best to start getting the singles instead).

Episode count per disc

Post by klokwerk » Tue Dec 06, 2005 9:24 pm

So what's the verdict on that episode count? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Well, Kunzait_83, the episode count per disc for the individual releases are the same as the DragonBox discs. There are 6 episodes per disc. If you decide to collect the individual releases, you'll miss out on the bonus features of the Z DragonBox sets. It should also be noted that the menus on the individual releases are static, whereas the DragonBox discs feature animated menus.

 $1000? Holy shit on a stick! I'll probably never be able to afford the Dragon Box. Good luck! ^_~

Go to celga.com, click on Anime Goods, the Dragon Ball Z/GT Goods, and then DVD. You'll find some for a couple thousand yen over their original price, some less expensive (they are all pretty expensive though.) Shipping is a lot (like a hundred bucks), and Celga charges about the same as a markup, so it gets ludicrous, but not as ludicrous as Amazon Japan (a friend of mine got a like new set for a total of 1300.)

Either way, its a good place if you desperately want a Dragon Box, much better than amazon japan.

EDIT: If it's just the series you want, this won't apply, but you might as well preorder the movie box. Deadline's coming up mighty fast, and you can still cancel it after you've ordered it (before it ships, of course.)

You can always copy your pal's DVD's.
Jord doesn't have a avatar because the combination of Jord and a equally cool avatar would cause the universe to implode.

I love DVD Decrypter, the free program I use to make clips of DVD's when I want to remaster discs.

The Dragon Boxes are beautiful, but if you're really pressed for space you could always buy the singles and house them in one of those big cloth cd binders.
