40% off all FUNimation DVDs

Post by M-Vegeta » Sat Dec 10, 2005 12:38 am

For those who don't know:

"From now until 12/18, get 40% OFF Retail price on ALL Funimation DVDs and VHS."

http://www.rightstuf.com

Coupon Code: sevensamurai

For those who need those last few DVDs to complete their collection, or like me, who needs the last two Cell DVDs and whole Majin Buu series, great price.

Time to go check out the DVD guide to see what I need. :D

You know, now that I'm comparing prices, deepdiscountdvd.com is the same price using the 40% off at rightstuf.com. The boxed sets are all the same. The 40% off would probably be good only for individual discs.

Babidi Box - $34.79 (same price using 40% off @ rightstuf)
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=GOL014602

Word Tournament Box- $25.79 (same price using 40% off @ rightstuf)
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=GOL014582

Buu Box - $59.99 (same price using 40% off @ rightstuf)
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=GOL014622

Fusion Box - $59.99 (same price using 40% off @ rightstuf)
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=GOL014642

Kid Buu - $43.19 (same price using 40% off @ rightstuf)
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=GOL014662

I needed to get these disc to complete Great Saiyaman & Cell Games. I guess it's a pretty decent price for them.

Great Saiyaman: Opening Ceremony - $11.99
Great Saiyaman: Declaration - $11.99
Great Saiyaman: Crash Course $11.99
Cell Games: Sacrifice - $11.99
Cell Games: Nightmare's - $11.99
Total: $59.95

The rest of what I need is World Tournament and the Buu era. All of those are in boxed sets. Soooo many DVDs, in fact, I've had to convert the two Ultimate Uncut DVDs, Ginyu, Furiza, Trunks, Android, all of Cell, Trunks Special, and three movies to slim case to save room:

Image
All of these slime case = 20 standard cases (I used UnderCoverXP to size them).

Couldnt you have just bought a shelf or a stand or something, that must have taken awhile to convert all those...

How in the world do you have the money to afford all that?

It wasn't that much. My ink is $11 for both black and color ink @ Printpal.com. The cases are only $8.75 for a 25 pack at shop4tech.com. It's really not that bad, it took a little awhile, but not long. UnderCoverXP saved me a lot of time because it automatically converts them to slime case size.

And I've already got shevles, it kind of had to be done, there is just way too many volumes along with my other DVDs:

I'm relatively sure he was referring to the hundreds of DVDs you own... I can't even afford to buy the Z-saga boxsets.

That's some amazing collection there, M-Vegeta. I thought I had an assload of DVDs and you just storm in and break a record. I should take a picture of my FILLED tv stand and show everyone the crap I collected. Time to buy a disposable camera.

I am seriously impressed by that... such organized chaos... it's like the clash of the titans on those stands. It looks like those shelves are ready to fall apart, too. Lol.

A dude selling them out of the trunk of his car doesn't count.

Thanks, lost in thought, basically ... I don't have much of a life, and of course, I'm just a hugh movie buff. I've got more DVDs in a T.V. stand, mostly Japanese animation. Most people think it's excessive and a bit crazy (maybe OCDish ). But I always feel a little better and less obsessed when I look at my friends 900+ DVD collection: http://img321.imageshack.us/img321/3362 ... opy2si.jpg

I would say I have you beat there, but with all the conversions down to slim alphas, I'm not so sure.

How many titles do you currently have?

According to DVDaf (where my collection is archived) I'm up to 613 (although I think that may not be quite accurate). After my exams this week I'll try to take some pics and upload them... I've actually been meaning to do so for a while.

Nice setup, tho, I love the slim alpha idea for the DBZ DVDs.

This is a few years of collecting. They've also been bought used, or were just gifts etc. I get most of my DVDs from DeepDiscountDVD.com, you can get some really great deals, along with % off coupons. I'm at 615 right now. All of them are backed up using a CD book, along with hi-res scans of each on a DVD-R.

I'm going to add my DBZ covers to a hi-res cover site soon. They can be used for converting to thin case or if you've damaged your orginal covers.

There's just such vast amount DBZ DVDs, I felt like it had to be done. And I still don't have episodes 1-67, well just two volumes (not just sure how many volumes total there are), World Tournament, and ALL of the Buu saga. That doesn't include all of Dragonball (I have only one disc). There's just so friggin' many, I'd be swimmin' in em' if they weren't oranized and converted to thin ... oh, yeah ... I forgot about GT.

Oh my god M-Vegeta... that ONE bookcase puts my entire fucking collection to shame... You could break a Guiness record with such a large collection.

I think my collection is floating at a few hundred or so dvds, including both of my Trigun boxes (one sealed, one not) and my seasons 1-7 of Stargate. I can't compete. XD

You all have put my small DBZ DVD collection to shame...I've got DBGT: Generations, DBGT, A Hero's Legacy, DBZ, Dead Zone re-dub, and DBZ: Bio-Broli. That's only because most of my stuff's still on VHS 'cause I didn't get my DVD/VCR player until 3 years ago. :(

I have a lot of DBZ on VHS, though! :P
I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.

Hahaha

What's even more amazing is that that colossal bookcase still isn't enough! If you notice, bottom right corner, there's a stack of DVDs on the floor right next to it. My friend who owns it, she's 45, a huge gamer, and is on the PC 24/7. She'd be the perfect girlfriend ... if she wasn't 25 years older than me. :D

It's maddness, really.

Hahaha. You sly dog. Go for it.

Later I should go physically count my mess of dvds, and see just what number I come up with.

My DVD collection is about 100. I started collecting about a year after DVDs went mainstream (when do-nothing DVD players went from $600 to $100-$150). I have a DVD spinning rack that fits 30 DVDs each, and a side of it had 20 DB-GT DVDs until I took them all out today to put back into their boxes. Now I need to buy two of FUNi's cases for movies. :x

They don't look too bad in the frosted thin case, really.

I'm sure most of you remember VegEX's contest for custom Dragonball GT boxart. I'm not sure if it's still up on the site, maybe someone could help me out here. But anyway, people always complain about FUNimations choice, but you don't have to accept their choice. There's a lot of talented people out there who could make some GREAT looking customs covers. I'd urge anyone who thinks they can take on the task ... DO IT! I know of a site that would gladly host any custom jobs, in fact, I'd really like to see what people could come up with. I guess it's just a matter of getting your hands on hi-res art for the actual front cover, screens on the back, and a brief description would be easy.

PM me if you're working on any custom jobs!

Could you please share a link to the site? I'm always interested in seeing custom DVD covers. I don't know about anyone else but I've always wanted to make or buy custom DVD box casings. The Funimation made ones leave a lot to be desired image wise and are mostly just flimsy pieces of paper. If anyone knows of a way to make or purchase custom box casing be sure to share it. :)
