What in the world is happening with the Brazilian Kai dub? Seriously it's terrible, I'm not talking about the voices or the script, but the syncing/mixing.

Episode 48 had Freeza's English voice when he discovered Goku was related to Burdock and on episode 50 it's all over the place, BKS or whoever's in charge isn't doing a very good job neither even good at all.

If or when the first DVD-BOX Brazilian of Dragon Ball Kai comes out, it better be another BR dub (uncut) because this one is just plain shit. I hate to insult this dub.

A couple of updates:

The Catala dub is up to the Android Arc now and here's dubbed ending 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6wTNdNAVYk

The Galecian dub has finally aired (started today). Here's the OP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50vcog2_ ... re=related
& the ED: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WyqfFj9ai8

That's it for now. BTW Kei17, is there any word on Eps. 55+ for the Korean dub yet?

No, as far as I know, there's no information about the Android arc yet.

Wow, so they finally got around to airing it, with the Yamamoto score as well! What's the timeslot for it? I can't imagine them leaving the "damns and bastards" in an after-school block, and what about DBZ? Has it been taken off the air entirely or is it still in its 10pm time slot (I don't have Sky anymore  ). I'm really stoked that they went with their own edit, I hope people at school start catching it as well! :)

Galician YBCB is CLEARLY translated from Japanese and NOT English. And NOT from Simmons' subs either. the first line is clearly based on a translation of "yaburekabure," which Simmons left in the DBK subs as "Yeah! Break! Care! Break!" (Galician line tls to "To the limit of my full power," yaburekabure translates to "To the limits of my despair.")

Now the Catalan dub seems to have got a step backward in quality. I don't know why, but from the Android arc, they started speeding up the audio (for PAL conversion) by simply keying it up. Now the entire score is higher-pitched just like the old Z dub.

That's interesting, since they also translated "Cha-La Head-Cha-La" as "Nada, nada" in their Z dub.

Okay, after going through Galician Dragon Soul and YBCB, I can definitely say that Dragon Soul is from the FUNi dub... and YBCB from Japanese. Go figure.

Translation of Dragon Soul (??? when I couldn't figure the word out):
Let's go, always lucky
To the top of ???
There is a paradise, and our soul will be freed
I will challenge any mysteries that come
There will be danger, I will fight without fear
I will get strength from the love within me
??? without end, if you're with me, nobody can beat us
We will fight for love, ?? with courage
Nothing is impossible
Nobody will die, we will carry on
Let's go, always lucky
Let's go, with pride
There is a paradise, all we have to do is go
Let's go, always lucky
Luck is on our side
There is a paradise, and we have to win our freedom
Dragon Soul!
As you can see, quite a bit of FUNimationisms like "We will fight for love", "our soul will be freed" (clearly from FUNi's "Go Go Free your soul").

Now, YBCB:
To the limit of my full power
I will fly to the infinite sky
The intense strength in my heart
won't stop and feels an emotion
Being brave is the best
I have to try
to protect the Earth from the powers of evil
We will fight without stop or end
I know we can save it
With my moves and a Vital Wave (Kame Hame Ha dub name)
I have to defeat the dangers
I am here and I want to restore
the order from the chaos
To the limit of my full power
Fate no longer defines you
Hope will never disappear
And in fate I'll believe...
As you can see, this one is very blatantly based on the original Japanese song, with stuff like "fly to the infinite sky" (clearly from tobun da mugen no sora e) and "Being brave is the best." (mukōmizu-tte saikō).
That's interesting, since they also translated "Cha-La Head-Cha-La" as "Nada, nada" in their Z dub.
That Cha-La dub is an atrocity. It has lines like "If I find a dinosaur in my path, I'll kill them all! All of them!" and "I'll cross the river really fast and scare away the fish."

EDIT: Let's look at Catalán Kokoro no Hane!

TL (rough):
More and more, flap your wings hard
I can feel it, fast and (???)
While everyone runs, I dream and fly over the blue sky!
Running through the brave wind, don't stop fighting
Be careful! It starts blowing,
that sensation that thrills you and makes you go
The wings in your heart follow in your way
More and more, flap your wings hard,
I can feel it, fast and (???)
While everyone runs, I dream and fly over the blue sky!
I guess it's based on Japanese, especially with the "més i més" directly mimicking the Japanese "motto motto."

Also calling "fail" on the Catalán dubbers for having a credit for YBCB on Kokoro no Hane.

They're now playing it at 11:30pm surprising, they recently changed the timeslot. I only watched the first episode to see what was different but a friend of mine at course whose been watching it almost every night said the 'hells' and 'damns' haven't been cut out, but the 'bastards' have which doesn't surprise me. They stopped playing Z ever since Kai started. Yeah, though I'm not sure this is actually their edit, kei17 was saying that the Thai dub got the exact same censorship so it must be a new international master.

Thanks Kei for the update. :)

BTW, I remember reading that somewhere that the Catalonians bought the series directly from Toei, whereas the Gallego and upcoming Castellano and Basque dubs were bought and distributed by Selectavision. This could explain why the Catala dub is following a different script than the Galican dub.

Also, has there been any word on a Valencia DBZK dub?

It should be noted that the use of "Love" and "Strength" COMES FROM the Japanese version.

Thanks to Kanzentai for the translated lyrics,

"A squirming, bewitching energy
I won't show any mercy, just you watch
I'll protect them, even if it costs me my life
Change your loving courage into strength"

Okay...for all of this talk about whether or not a dub is based on FUNimation's English dub or not, I'm pretty sure that there's a way to find out for sure (well, maybe not for sure, but the closest we'll ever get to knowing for sure): episode 17. As I'm sure many of you remember, FUNimation dubbed "Over the Star." Insert songs are very rarely dubbed, so if you hear the English version of "Over the Star" in episode 17, then it's based on FUNimation's version. In the case of both the Mexican Spanish and the Brazilian Portuguese dubs, the English version of "Over the Star" is clearly heard during episode 17 of the respective dubs.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

But not on that specific part. And the Galician dub has lines based on, for instance, "nothing ever dies, we will rise again"

Catalan 2nd Ending
Més i més, bat les ales ben fort!
Jo vaig sentint, de pressa i sense por.
Mentre tots corren, jo vaig somniant,
volant per sobre del cel blau.

More and more, flap your wings hard!
I'm feeling it, fast and with no fear.
While everyone runs, I'm dreaming
and flying over the blue sky!

Cavalca el vent valent. No deixis de lluitar.
Vés amb compte! Comença a bufar
aquesta sensació que t'emociona i et fa créixer.

Ride the brave wind. Don't stop fighting.
Be careful! It starts blowing
that sensation that thrills you and makes you rise.

Que les ales del teu cor
siguin el teu escut!

May the wings in your heart
be yor shield!

I hope I didn't mess up too much with the English translation :D

Galician Kai keeps every dubism except Space Warriors for Saiyans. From episode 1 alone: Songoku, Songohanda, Cachalote, Freezer, Onda Vital, Mutenroi, Tenshian, Piccoro. Script is very clearly translated from the English dub, too (has those little quirks such as calling Chichi Gokū's 'childhood sweetheart').

What about episode 17, though? Does the English version of "Over the Star" play (like in the Mexican Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese dubs)? Because that would be a 100% guarantee that it's based on the English dub. If you hear the Japanese version, then there's no way that it's based on the English dub. If, on the other hand, they dubbed it into Galician...then it could be either.

Galician dub just started this week, so we won't know for a while.
