If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

But that doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't been released, just that, at the very least, it's extremely rare.
Re: The pilot episodes of HG's dub of DB might not exist
I deleted the post because I got it confused with the BLT dub.

You don't need to apologize you actually brought up a good point, although I don't think any official vhs with the HG dubbed episodes exist the possibility of some existing is there, but like you said it would probably be pretty rare, i'll be sure to keep my eyes open for anything, and I apologize to jjgp1112 for making it seem like you were talking nonsense.Pokewhiz7 wrote:I apologize to superrayman3, then.

Re: The pilot episodes of HG's dub of DB might not exist
Dragonball.wikia.com says that they may of done 5 episodes. And is there any other version that may of been broadcast in the USA or Canada in 1993? Because I am positive that the first time I ever saw dragonball was on TV saturday morning back in 1993 and it was only a regular 30 minute type of show, not a special.

The key terms in that wiki is they may have done 5 episodes but I doubt it was the HG dub because the HG dub was made in 1989 and I don't think any TV stations had the dub in 1993 you probably saw Funimations first dub.dario03 wrote:Dragonball.wikia.com says that they may of done 5 episodes. I forgot that last bit about DB being released in 1995 but my point still stands dario03 that you probably saw Funimations first dub of DB and not HG's dub.Pokewhiz7 wrote: Which came out in 1995.

Like I said, I am positive that it was 1993 so it couldn't have been the Funi dub. In 1995 I did see the Funi dub and at the time I remembered already seeing the show before.superrayman3 wrote:I forgot that last bit about DB being released in 1995 but my point still stands dario03 that you probably saw Funimations first dub of DB and not HG's dub.Pokewhiz7 wrote: Which came out in 1995.

Now that is interesting. I'll give the episodes the benefit of the doubt since more than one person says they exist. I just hope that someday someone who does have the episodes uploads them so they can be preserved.dario03 wrote:

After reading previous threads about the HG dub I have a question for Mike. Does your wife still have the HG dub of movie 3 and if so would you be willing to upload the parts that the current upload doesn't have (such as the) beginning of movie 3?

Yes, I/we have it, and no, I'm not interested in distributing copyrighted video works.

Re: The pilot episodes of HG's dub of DB might not exist
Well, to come right to the point, they did dub the first five episodes, which were broadcast on TV. Here are two messages in the early days of the Internet. They were posted in 1990. The credit goes to Takarajima, who found these:wjbraden wrote:^ I think it's time to ask Kei17 for some assistance.

Has anyone been watching the translations of Dragonball
that have been coming out? First there was a "movie",
which was basically cuts from the episodes *very*
edited to quickly go through the first three
Dragonball quests.
Then, there's also the translations of the individual
episodes, which are fairly true to form, except all
the lecherous and sex parts have been edited out.
All in all, it's not bad, although, it IS being
done by Harmony Gold (yeah, yeah, go have a fit
on your own time). Besides, how can they muss up
such a simple plotline?
One thing though, they only seem to show a week's
worth every month : January was the movie,
February had the one week of 5 episodes, etc...

I've had a lot of questions about the Dragonball translations, and I figured
it'd be easier to just post again than answer them one by one (that and
the fact that I kinda erased them all, accidentally of course).
Anyway, yes the translations were done by Harmony Gold, and they were shown
on an indepedent television station, channel 62 out of Toledo, Ohio, which
our cable company in Ann Arbor, Michigan happens to pick up.
I hear that only the first five episodes are availiable, Harmony Gold
distributing them to test the market response.
Yes, I do have them on tape.
Anything else?

Re: The pilot episodes of HG's dub of DB might not exist
I can comment on the 5 episodes, back in 1996 when I came to the US one of my cousins had dragon ball on VHS and I'm like.. it's been dubbed already? Keep in mind I did not know about FUNimations dub of db or z at that time but was kind of expecting GT from an international recording.
The dub that was on that tape was far different than FUNimations dub, only reason I think it's Harmony Gold is because they called Goku Zero.
But she only had 1-2 episodes recorded, I would have loved if she had all five..

And I'm guessing you don't have the tape anymore.Daimo-Rukiri wrote:I can comment on the 5 episodes, back in 1996 when I came to the US one of my cousins had dragon ball on VHS and I'm like.. it's been dubbed already? It was never my tape, and I highly doubt my cousin has that tape. She's moved 10 times in the last 20 years so it's very unlikely.

Re: The pilot episodes of HG's dub of DB might not exist
I called here about a couple of hours ago, she still has a ton of TV-Recordings from the 80s. I did pop the question if she has the Harmony Gold version of Dragon Ball, she said she'd get back to me. She also said she had international recordings as well!
Last time I physically saw that tape was the year 2000.
