Any Episodes/Movies/Specials you can't watch?
Are there any Episodes/Movies/TV Specials you can't watch due to certain reasons?
Honestly, I really can't watch The History of Trunks. It just has this really depressing atmosphere that just stops me from trying to watch it. I know that's kind of what the theme for the TV special had going for it but it's just really not enjoyable to me compared to the first time I watched it where I was just itching to watch more DBZ.
What about you?

To this day I can't watch any scenes where Cell absorbs people. Shit scarred me for life.

I can't watch Dragon Ball. It's just boring for me. And I'm not a fan of the humor, either.

The later part is very similar to the Saiyan saga, in terms of feel.NeoKING wrote:I can't watch Dragon Ball. It's just boring for me. And I'm not a fan of the humor, either.

The orange bricks.
Seriously? I can't stand certain filler segments like Fake Namek, many of Bulma's 'adventures' and the Red Ribbon/Freeza filler. Mostly because they're boring, not traumatizing like other things posted here.
I also can't watch the GT special or Bio-Broly, because their premises were so out-there and, IMO, lame.

The last couple of episodes of the Cell saga. Way too bittersweet for my tastes. I'm not saying that because Goku's my favorite character, of course not! *whistles innocently*
Re: Any Episodes/Movies/TV Specials you can't watch?
FUNimation's dub of the Bardock special. So much more depressing than the original.
Re: Any Episodes/Movies/TV Specials you can't watch?
Not really. For a long time, I didn't think I'd ever want to re-watch the movies. But having gone back to them with the perspective of, "Oh, they're just silly little specials made for Japanese children on break," I actually enjoy those now too.
There are parts of the series I'm less likely to rewatch, and there are parts I know are objectively unwatchable (mid- to late-Namek arc), but I'll still go back to them every once in a while.
EDIT -- Now that I think about it, I actually have a really hard time going back to the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai. Every time I think about rewatching it, I inevitably decide not to. I have no idea what it is about that particular arc that I find so disengaging, because I enjoy it enough when going through the series as a whole, and it's far from the worst bit of the anime. Oh well.

Re: Any Episodes/Movies/TV Specials you can't watch?
The Red Ribbon Army saga is entirely too long in both versions (manga/anime) and I BARELY got through the whole arc in Japanese (I watched the dub of it on Toonami and actually got bored enough to change the channel)... The King Piccolo/23rd Budokai arcs are actually what got me back into the original series.
Movie 11 is also a snoozer, even though I liked it when I first bought fansub tapes of the movies back in 2000-2001. I actually find a weird charm in the Fake Namek stuff, then again, I'm weird because I like GT more than I dislike it...
On a funny side note, these people that are saying that the Bardock/Trunks specials are too "dark/depressing", makes me think they haven't watched enough movies or anime, or are actually much younger than I thought them to be. Watch something like Requiem of a Dream or Grave of the Fireflies if you want to know what "depressing" truly means.

Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Yeah, I've been thinking of watching the Tenshinhan arc-onwards.Pokewhiz7 wrote:The later part is very similar to the Saiyan saga, in terms of feel.NeoKING wrote:I can't watch Dragon Ball. It's just boring for me. And I'm not a fan of the humor, either.

I haven't been able to watch the first two Broly films in a long while, maybe because of the fanboys, maybe because of the character. But I've never watched them in Japanese before so I'm hoping I'll enjoy them more.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.
Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Re: Any Episodes/Movies/TV Specials you can't watch?
I can't watch the first episode of DBZ because it's so boring; it's like "hey, let's watch Gohan wander around the woods doing nothing for 15 minutes with a few breaks here and there". None of the other filler people complain about really bothers me, but that just gets under my skin.
This will never not be my sig:

I can't believe this is on-topic.
Re: Any Episodes/Movies/TV Specials you can't watch?
I can't watch a single dub aside from the early pre Recoome Ocean one(really only because of Drummond's early Vegeta).
Voice acting is sub par, altered original dialogue...it's like having cancer. It's just dreadful to re-watch anything but the original.

Re: Any Episodes/Movies/TV Specials you can't watch?
Red Ribbon Army Saga felt like forever while watching it. I really liked the under water cave part though. Bulma with Krillin and Goku was just pure awesome. My biggest nerve was Ninja Murasaki. I hate that guy. Everything about him annoys me. The first Broly movie is also really hard to watch.. It takes way too long for the action to start and it's such a pain to watch Vegeta whine.
Re: Any Episodes/Movies/TV Specials you can't watch?
I've watched every movie, special and episode of the DB/Z/Kai animes thus far. I can't however watch GT, it just makes me wanna smash my DVD player.

Well, compared to Dragon Ball standards, the Trunks special was quite dark compared to the series and other movies or TV specials.theoriginalbilis wrote:

Don't know where people get the idea that the Bardock special is dark/depressing, if it is I don't see it.

People like Saiyans, some people find it depressing Bardock who was turning against Freeza died, along with the rest of them; or that his comrades died at his eyes with their blood on his hands (Depending on how you look at it). It's a little darker than the standards also in that respect, but nothing compared to the Trunks special. It's really just subjective among whoever watches it. I found it to be happy with a sad undertone compiled with redemption, but not depressing.Gonstead wrote:Well, compared to Dragon Ball standards, the Trunks special was quite dark compared to the series and other movies or TV specials.theoriginalbilis wrote:

On a serious note, this. I've never seen Bio-Broly, but the GT special made me want to fall asleep.Son Satan wrote:I also can't watch the GT special or Bio-Broly, because their premises were so out-there and, IMO, lame.

Re: Any Episodes/Movies/TV Specials you can't watch?
The Garlic Jr. Saga. FAR too much of nothing going on for the ten or so episodes it encapsulates. And the ridiculousness of Popo and Kami going under the lookout and running from/surviving the past guardians. It just makes no sense and is SO difficult for me to watch.
I also have trouble watching the first two Broly movies. The first is interesting story-wise, but the art looks pretty destestable at certain points. The second one, while I like that we see older Gohan fighting, I don't like that much of Broly's moves are exactly what he did in his prior movie. In fact, I think I like the third Broly movie best, simply because of how much it was "out there" and strange.
Just my two cents
