Surprised the ending uses the Japanese lyrics. I teared up when I saw it a few minutes ago. Too bad they're not doing the Buu Saga though.

I fully expected this, considering they did the same for GT's ending, and FUNimation never dubs full versions of songs as far as I know.

Re: Episode 97's ending with Dragon Soul (Japanese).
I'm not certain about other series off the top of my head, but Funi did do extended versions of the Yu Yu Hakusho opening and the Ouran High School Host Club ending for their respective final episodes.
Re: Episode 97's ending with Dragon Soul (Japanese).
They did an extended version of the first One Piece ending for the end of the Alabasta arc, too.
Though, if my memory doesn't fail me, there's actually no lyrics on the episode 97 version that weren't in the TV size one already. In 98's, there's only two extra verses (Dokkan Dokkan kiteru ze; motto mirai ga tanoshiku naru yo). So it REALLY wouldn't have been a lot of work, so long as Toei provided them with appropriate instrumental tracks.
EDIT: Yep. Underneath, jp lyric followed by the dub equivalent:

Admittedly, the last two verses in the english dub are lol-repeated, because FUNimation used the same lyrics on both start and end unlike the Japanese version. But if they wanted, they could use the 'ride the wind' part for it and there'd be no problem.Episode 97 version wrote: Dokkan Dokkan tsuite'ru - Don't stop, don't stop, we're in luck now

This is exactly how I wanted it to be. Man, hearing the Japanese version being played on NickToons brought tears to my eyes. I'm sad it's over but I'm glad they ended it the way they did.

Count me a tad disappointed. I won't go into great detail since I already have in a few other posts (and I don't want to sound like a broken record), but I have always been of the belief that if you're going to dub something, you should dub everything. Hearing Japanese songs in an English dub is way too distracting for me. It takes me out of the moment.
Otherwise, a good conclusion to a good dub!

I wasn't upset about them leaving Dragon Soul in Japanese, so it didn't take me out of the moment. I'm really sad, not only for the awesome dub but how it's finally over for Kai....until episode 98.

I find it funny that they're calling episodes 97 + 98 the "lost episodes" on Nicktoons. They're exclusively online too.

GT isn't bad, just sucks ass in comparison to the other 2 animes.

Re: Episode 97's ending with Dragon Soul (Japanese).
I do wish the Naruto dub had dubbed the songs, but it's not a bad dub overall. When I say "it takes me out of the moment," I mean just that--the moment. I'm able to get back into the story pretty quickly once the song ends.songohan619 wrote:Oh man, then you are going to hate the Naruto dub.TheBlackPaladin wrote:Hearing Japanese songs in an English dub is way too distracting for me.
