The only specials I'm really afraid of are the Freeza, Majin Buu, and Super Buu specials due to the high chance they'll just be more "everybody dies" stories devoid of any of the actual interesting stuff that would happen after the bad guys win. The third Broly special, if it does come up, will at least be new material but strangely out of place given Broly's relevance ended ages ago. The rest of the specials I'm more interested in.

Oh man, that was great, especially the Dabura stuff. If you've read Sandland and seen Beelzebub's father, you'll get it.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

What's an "imp"?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I just read sand land the other day and I really liked it. Is it wrong that I kinda want Beelzebub to win? Sure he doesn't have a chance in hell (tee hee) but one can dream.

So, I've never read Sandland....does Beelzebub fight? If so, what's something impressive that he's done? Try to avoid any major spoilers if possible.

He does fight but not a whole lot. Sandland is only about 200 pages long and most of it is adventuring. He does have super strength and some measure of the kind of explosive energy typical of Dragon Ball characters. But we don't see him do much more than lift tanks and beat up a monster that supposedly could have killed him.

Yes! That's a fun nod. I really like this page.

Gogeta Jr. keeps forgetting Beelzebub's tail though. And how is he screwing up Piccolo Daimao's face like that? The eyes and mouth look off.

Cowa and Sandland are both worth the read, they don't take that long anyway.

Beezelbub is actually from Sandman, not Cowa. The vampire with the cape that talked in that last page was from Cowa.

Here's Beezelbub with his father in Sandland:

Looks like Dabura eventually settles down, grows his horns out and has a bratty son.

I can tell you from experience, Daimaou is surprisingly difficult to draw. Every time I try his face looks off, so maybe Gogeta Jr. is having the same kind of trouble. Also remember that the art style during the Daimaou arc was completely different from Toriyama's current style.
Usually goes by "Kevtrev" elsewhere online.
Draws comics that may or may not have been blatantly inspired by Akira Toriyama's manga.

Wait...is that actually supposed to be Dabura? Does Beelzebub live in the demon realm? Or even the same existence as the Dragon Ball...snow globe? Or is it just more of Toriyama reusing character designs? Which came first? Either way, that's pretty cool.

I think Toriyama is just reusing designs.

Yeah I got that he is trying to update the style to buu saga style, but there is already sufficient reference for that.
