Perfect wrote:For a weekly series, it doesn't have "bad" animation. People tend to confuse artwork and animation quite often, though I don't see how. The majority of Z's artwork is subjective to being good or bad based on the art studio that was drawing it it. I'd say most of the artwork was good, but when the artwork was bad there'd be good animation usually to back it up. An example is the episode after Trunks slices Freeza in half. We get that triangle artwork shit which just looks terrible, but the animation is fairly fluid. The pacing is a hit and miss, do you like drawn out scenes or extra added subplots? I do, but that's just me. The Freeza arc for sure has bad pacing, but I enjoy it; probably because of the type of fan I am.
Do I find it ridiculous someone can't watch prior episodes to Buu? Yes, very much so. The Cell portion of the anime was easily better with pacing and animation. Even Last House had some good as well bad artwork to show. What was bad would be less detailed characters that're heavily off model, but then a few minutes later we'd see very stylized artwork that'd actually looked good. If anything at all, the early portion of Z with the Saiyans, is very well paced and has few dips in animation and artwork when compared to the rest of the series. It has that more "Dragon Ball" feel to the style still. How anyone could prefer the Buu saga over that is beyond me.
Thank you. I agree Perfect. The Pacing isn't as bad as everyone says. And as I get older it becomes even more enjoyable. I like the pace the anime goes, it's pretty good actually. It lets the viewer absorb everything that is going on.
I don't see anywhere in that post where he says why he wants to skip certain movies. And if errors is what he hates then I don't know why he would pick movie 12, since the baddies still have their bodies.
He says he'll only watch certain movies which means he's not going to watch any of the other ones.
Well, it kinda does suck. DBZ was still a weekly series and it suffered from that in both pacing and animation. It's bad compared to both the comic and other series. Don't get me wrong, I still like it, but I won't deny the flaws.
I've been watching many 80's-90's cartoons lately and as their art may always be pretty decent the fluidity and animation is pretty piss poor. Dragonball owns them in that regard. Last house was the worst in the Buu arc not the Saiyan arc so I find that odd to what B said.
Did you see the episode where Goku and Gohan come out of the RoSaT? DBZ can and does have some animation flaws that are most certainly not nitpicks.
In motion it is not so bad and that's Last house when they took a nose dive in quality. Before that they were really good. See Dragonball and Early Z. The movies though are amazing and I don't see what's the reason he hates them as their quality in art is awesome! Their first DBZ movie is so well animated, probably the best
art and
animation in the series
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada
