Are the Blu-ray "Double Features" any better than the DVDs?
Are the Blu-rays of the movies any better than the DVDs upscaled? My computer is on its last bit of life and I was thinking of getting one with a Blu-ray player so I can watch my copy of Movies 5 and 6 (which don't play on my region B PS3). So are the Blu-rays worth getting a laptop with a Blu-ray player, or should I sell my Coola Blu-ray and get the 5 movie pack to watch on my PS3?

Re: Are the Blu Ray Double Feature's any better then the DVD
Well I think my Sony Blu-Ray player is fantastic. But I don't know what a Blu-Ray player on a laptop would look like
Also just a heads up for anyone thinking about buying the Cooler double features on Blu-Ray and DVD. Someone lied to me and said that the audio was fixed and in sync for the Blu-Ray. but The Audio is out of sync for a-lot scenes, I'm speaking of the English soundtrack only. Also they changed a line for Korin. I'm just saying this that way someone doesn't make my mistake. so just stick with your bilingual DVD on that one. But as far as the Quality of both movies, I think they look great.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Nope it's only out of sync for the English with the rock music. Trust me if you grew up watching this Bilingual release.

And you want to watch the new Remastered DVD/Blu-Ray. And if you're expecting the same awesomeness from the first release then forget it. Also I'm not speaking of their mouths being out of sync just the music only.(Just to clear that up) the music starts and ends in places that it shouldn't, and it sounds like whoever was behind doing that release just didn't give 2 shits about mixing the audio right. Also if you remember in the scene were Gohan Flies off from Karin's
In the English Version Karin says to yajirobe ''by the way whats a bean daddy?''
But in the Remastered Version he says something along the lines of. ''Gohan sure is a pretty good kid'' Also the voice actor doesn't even sound the same! it's like they got a different person to voice that one scene. Tough break buddy.
Also if you need me to show you the differences between the old release(Picture above) and the new Release, just let me know and I'll try to show you. but I can't post it on here because that's against the rules

Cooler's voice is also noticeably different than the first release compared to the remastered DVD.

Yeah, I think Funi is using the audio from before the show was tweaked for TV/singles. All voice filters are gone, some music issues are present (even in the Z episodes with the BFP score IIRC, but those are a lot more minor) and a couple lines are different. I always kind of wondered if those losses bugged dub fans or not? It kind of seems like all that stuff is single exclusive now. Unless the Blu-Rays go a different route.
Edit
I just realized I've never heard a single complaint about the redubbed voices either.

That's actually one of the only trilingual releases.samuraix123 wrote:Nope it's only out of sync for the English with the rock music. Trust me if you grew up watching this Bilingual release.

I'm curious, when it Funimation drop the voice filters? It seems they were using them more often than I realized.

If your facing the enigma of double features/triple feature vs DVDs go for the blu-rays.

Well, I know their Orange Bricks also dropped the filters for most of the Androids that used filters (16 and 19). I guess it was just a "remastered" trend they were going with. And while we're on the topic, I can't stand Karin's new voice. I agree, it sounds nothing like the original VA and just sounds phoned in. Not to mention out of place, because isn't that the only line with that VA and all his previous lines with the original one?BlazingFiddlesticks wrote:I am disappoint.samuraix123 wrote:In the English Version Karin says to yajirobe ''by the way whats a bean daddy?''

As for the out-of-place rock music, I actually haven't noticed and I love the rock music. Are there any comparison videos out there?
EDIT: Oh, and for the original poster, if you're okay with the occasionally blinding effects of the saturation of both "remasterings" (DVD and Blu-ray's), I went with the Blu-ray's. They're both the same remastering, with the only exceptions being plastic verses steelbook cases (I prefer plastic, more reliable, sure that they will close completely, etc.) and that the BD's are in HD.
