Just how many things did Bandai hide in UB22???

Post by Dominator » Wed Dec 14, 2005 3:29 pm

I've been playing the game recently due to boredom, and discovered a few cool things, which may have already been covered in FAQs.

But a very interesting thing was something that Goku performed; just as I was about to be hit, he uses Shinkan Idou to teleport to the higher level of the battlefield and even taunts his opponent! (Well it's not a typical fighting game taunt in which you press a button, but a taunt nonetheless). Another thing I found today was a reverse flip kick that seemingly came out of nowhere as a counter attack.

I've checked all FAQs, and even scans of the Japanese manual, nothing. Seeing as how Shin Butouden was everything UB22 was and more, I'm extremely tempted to play it (somehow anyway).

Anyone else stumbled into a few tricks here and there?

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

I stumbled upon the Japanese pre-game banter in the American version...Well only if you go to tournament mode.

I liked UB22, but for some reason I never really got into it. I should go play it right now... seems there's a lot of Easter-eggs within it! 8)

Well, I don't know if it's been mentioned before but if you make a Chibi Goku vs Chibi Goku fight, the looser will transform into Oolong at the end of the fight.

In the Japanese version, there are a lot of extra pre-fight scenes when you make certain characters fight (Chibi Goku vs Tenshinhan, SSJ Goku vs Frieza, Gohan vs Cell...).
The résistance dies but never gives up.

Actually, if you beat him without loosing any energy he turns into Oolong. The cutscenes aren't very entertaining, but the quality of them immediately jumps from terrible to excellent (well half-excellent) depending on the situation.
