Thinking of animating Multiverse (maybe)

Post by Attitudefan » Thu Jan 12, 2012 1:20 am

I have been thinking long and hard on this! I want to do an animation when I get time and, as of right now, I have none but that could change later this year. I need opinions on this as it could be a giant thing to do plus, it isn't even my idea but it would be so fun to do... well the end product could be the only fun part.

If I were to do this, I would want to make some changes involving one thing! I know that sounds bad but heck, if I were to labour away at it, I would want to do it my way! Haha!

Now thinking about it, I would do it in my art style over Salagir's. It would look more or less like the older Saiyan arc and Ma Jr arc. Goku would have his Namek arc symbol (to symbolize himself and I love that symbol!) Last but not least I would want to cut down some parts. This is because there is just too much, especially for one guy!

Thoughts anybody?

Sounds cool and plus you won't have to worry about voice actors either if you put voices to it ^_^

BTW, deathbynightlunch now has a mic and he's recording his lines for Ginyu and the rest of Jeice for the fandub. I also got Gohan's lines a while ago so now all we need to worry about is Vegeta, Krillin and a Narrator.

You know, I am so sorry about my Coola lines! I have the time (kinda)
I will get them in tomorrow! PROMISE!!!!!!

Anyways, I will do this after a current short I am working on for a contest in animation, which means no DBZ characters at all!

What do you think if I change certain styles and/or attire for characters? Good or bad?

It would depend on the character to be honest.

Well, I'm only thinking of changing Oob's and Goku's costume to the Namek arc style. I think it would fit more as Oob would wear Goku's symbol like Goku and Krillin wore Kame-Sennin's symbol

I would have thought Goku's end of Z gi would be more appropriate.

It probably would but I always felt he should have an homage to his former master by using his symbol like Kame-Sennin. I always felt that his Namek arc costume had gotten kicked to the background when his later costume came on.

Now, the blue costume might fit the best, but then again, I feel hen he did take on a pupil, he might revert back to his old uniform.

I never did like that logic, and I don't like that Multiverse put him in the orange dogi. Yes, I like Goku best in his orange outfits, but sometime you have to follow the story and let go. Goku shouldn't of had the belt and symbol in the JSAT special either, it should have been the Buu Arc outfit.

By the timeframe in question for this project, Goku had grown to become his own master. He took on his own colors, and he wore the new outfit during both the end of Z, Neko Majin Z and GT (with an alternate pallet), so its not like it was just something to wear until time to put the orange back on. I see no reason to go back to it...

I understand that. Though I personally despise that blue outfit!

It would make sense that Goku would move on to his blue dogi, but I think it is very unpopular among fans.

Just a side note, Goku came full circle with his blue dogi, as it heavily resembles what he first wore in Dragonball.

I LOVE the blue dogi, as you can probably tell:

Image

but I also agree that Goku looks best in orange, as it was his main color for almost the entire series. That doesn't change my stance on the matter though, regardless of the character. lol I dislike a lot of outfits in the series. For example, I dislike most of the other character's appearances during the 28th Budokai with Uub (Kuririn's suit, 18's whatever that was, Bulma's long dress and ugly hair, etc.), but that's doesn't mean I think it should have been changed back to the Buu Arc stuff just because I like it better.

Using a select outfit helps to set a specific vibe. If I see Uub and Goku, with him in that blue dogi, it helps to click where the story fits in the overall picture much easier. Every time I read Multiverse, I have to readjust to the "WTF, why is he in orange?!" moments, as it hampers my ability to believe the story is a "sequel" to the series I know, and not just some random clusterfuck of characters for the sake of the fandom...

Though this is just my opinion, and I'm probably in the minority.

I agree, that's why I like the blue dogi so much and feel that its very fitting. I like that it was even more obvious with "Path to Power".

I despise his yellow pants with the blue! You know, I have much more respect for the blue dogi now. Looking at that art of yours, it looks awesome!
Salagir should have put his fanboy obsessions behind him to make this. In the end though, I do feel it is less of a sequal and more of just some random Dragonball event.
Though this is just my opinion, and I'm probably in the minority.
Probably. I think I am in the minority when I say I prefer the older art style and his dogis before the Cell arc. :D

What if he had his blue dogi with a symbol; to make the whole fandom happy?

I'd rather prefer to see Toyble's DBAF animated. How well can you animate?

I see Goku using the orange outfit simply because he is in a (serious) tournament.

Unless you gather a whole team of animators you're gonna be pretty lucky if you finish just one episode.

So I say pick a part of the manga that you like best and animate this. Starting from the beginning will just be boring to you, it will drain you and realistically you'll never be able to finish the whole thing.

I for one actually like the GT colors. I just wish he got more exposure in it in his adult form. I'd use that outfit if I were to make a manga sequel. (Which I am but Goku hasn't featured in it yet.)

You know, I was thinking of doing just one scene if I don't get a team of animators. It's gonna be something with Goku, Tenshinhan, Freeza or Buu. One of those for sure! I was also considering doing the fight the Burter had just because it looked fun.

Fairly decent and getting better each passing day. I went from straight referencing a year ago to doing my own work and it's damn good stuff!

*Le sigh* Here we go again...no, no its not. The picture is part of a fan project and it is a hybrid of the GT dogi with the colors from the end of Z, the shirt isn't supposed to be in one piece. And SS4 Goku isn't wearing a different belt for no reason, all the other Goku forms are wearing the same belt under the shirt.

I simply posted the image because the two versions are 99.9% identical, except for one line, and it gets my point across.

I see. It's a shame, though.

I don't find sense in Goku wearing a belt under the shirt.

And what's wrong with it? I won't be having him keep the shirt, or a battle damaged "skirt", when he reaches "SS4", so he loses his original belt. Goku would look fairly dumb without something around his waist, its basically an unwirtten rule of dogi in Dragon Ball, so it helps keep the correct design aspect. Plus, Tenshinhan wore his to keep his pants up, so I see nothing wrong with Goku wearing it or the logic behind it.

The one belt you could see as an elastic of the pants itself. It needs to be there to hold the pants up. The second white belt is needed to keep the two sides of the vest together. With only one white belt you would have to keep the pants and vest together with one hand and tie the belt with the other. Seems a lot easier to have the pants stay in place already.
