Why did people wait so long to finally buy them?

If the reason's "I didn't have money back then" or "it was too expensive" then now there's probably no chance with the current prices.

Buying at launch / pre-order would've been a lot cheaper than now.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

I never buy anything when it first comes out. I wait until there's a sale or used deal that brings it down to a price I feel is either fair or the best I'm likely to see. I should've bought 1-3 on the Amazon sale, though at the time I kind of underestimated how much I really liked the series, and I also didn't really realize how much having it presented properly, as I saw it on fansubs, would matter to me. I knew the orange bricks were very, very flawed, and I wasn't happy with them beyond their price and that they were the most efficient (or only) way to get the arcs that I wanted, subtitled, at the time, but I bought them for seasons 1-4 well before the Dragon Boxes were released. Dragon Box 3 had been released before I even became aware that they existed. Watching Dragon Boxes 4-6 helped me appreciate how much things like the actual OP/EP and next episode previews meant to me, beyond what I felt were the obvious advantages of it being uncropped. I'm still going to be content with Levels 1.1, 1.2 and 2.1 if I can't obtain Box 1 for under $25, though, as I already have level 1.1 and expect to be able to get 1.2 and 2.1 used from GoHastings at some point for around the $12 that I paid for the first one. I'd prefer to have Dragon Box 1, for the OP/EP and next episode previews and for having a consistant release, but I'll be happy enough to just have it in its OAR.

I'm sorry dude but I also have to eat. I would have bought it back then but I just couldn't, there are a ton of things I put in front of my fandom, like having electricity and water in my house. I'm risking it a bit now because I'll regret it later if I don't. But the way you put it is a bit offensive, there are many people here who have a whole life to run apart from being a fan of Dragon Ball, and with the current crisis it is quite hard. Also the current crisis is one of the main reasons the prices are sky-rocketing, people want to make easy money out of nerds like us.

Not sure if anyone has posted this but the first Dragon Box has reappeared on RightStuf under 'More Arriving Soon' and currently sold out, which probably doesn't change anything.

I didn't want them before. But toward the end of last year I changed my fickle little mind. I also didn't know they were gonna be discontinued so quickly.

I would have been fine if I didn't start at #7 and go backwards like a derpface.

Interesting. Maybe a second release due to high demand?

Highly doubt it. Some series I was looking at also recently went OOP, and after it had already said "no longer available for purchase" for a few days, it had the same status as the Dragon Box listing and was relisted. I was told by people in the know that it just meant that they might have been a return, or someone had it in their cart and never checked it out and it was messing up the system or something.

I may have misremembered the specific details, but in any case I wouldn't be too sure of a reprint. It will likely be de-listed again within a few days, so don't get your hopes up.

From what I can see, it's already been removed. Unless it wont show up during a search. I only see 3,5,6 & 7.

Yup, it's gone as I predicted. I found it earlier by searching, and it's been delisted once again.

From Ricecake here on the forums.

Also, I've wrapped boxes 1, 2 and 4 in plastic seeing that I removed the original plastic from the first 2 not seeing it as a big deal. I then realized it'd minimalism shelf wear if I kept it on and just had a square cut open for the DVD part in the back.

With this my Dragon Box collection is completed, now I'll move onto the Blue Bricks.

Thanks, he posted the ad in this thread originally, I was just the first to reply. For awhile I was just thinking I'd have to save for $200 to get a used copy off Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/ ... ition=used

The price isn't too bad, at least compared to what it's usually at.

For New Zealanders a couple of Dragon Boxes have popped up on Trademe. They're not as rare as the others, but I'd grab them A.S.A.P regardless:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/movies-tv/dvds ... 701821.htm
http://www.trademe.co.nz/movies-tv/dvds ... 695622.htm
I really regret spending $60 on those DVDs that I still haven't even recieved yet.

Back off guys, Dragon Box 5 is mine! :P

EDIT: For anyone that wants them, Dragon Boxes 1 and 4 are available on Amazon UK for a reasonable price:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dragonball-Drag ... 039&sr=1-1
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dragon-Ball-Box ... 127&sr=1-1
As much as I want to buy these I just don't have the money right now. :|

I didn't have the internet... and I didn't know how to import things (heard too many silly stories of Amazon ripping people off or something...).
:P

Hence why I got the Orange Bricks for the Saiyan-Freeza arcs. I was doing work-experience at K-Mart and they were going for $42 for one, which compared to how they sold elsewhere ($56) was quite cheap. I still don't mind them, but having just got three Dragon Boxes I wish they were still imprint so I could have gotten them...
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

- I didn't have an Amazon account.
- I don't have a job.
- I get money once a year.
- I don't have a credit card.
- I don't like taking my parents money.
- I didn't know how to buy online.
- I was reluctant to buy online since I'd heard so many stories about people getting ripped off.

I'm surprised that DBox4 is still up for $45.

Forewarning: It's MM again. Probably an OOS item.
