Have you ever?
Have you ever done a presentation to a class or group on Dragon Ball Z? I had to today , and was wondering if anyone else ever has?

No, lol. But I did where DBZ shirts to school in elementary school and some of the snobby "hot" girls made fun of me.
Stupid sexy bitches...

How did that presentation go btw? And what was the subject/reason you did a presentation on DBZ?

No and I really wouldn't want too. I mean talking about a cartoon in front of hot girls ain't gonna help you
But if they don't like Dragonball then you don't need them anyway

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Well, I was had to do it for Classical Mythology class. It is just the usual me and a few other nerds. I did it because our teacher wanted us to find some sort of show or book that applied to the monomyth and the hero's adventure. I was like , what better than to do it on something I am extremely well-versed on.

Re: Have you ever?
Only in the vaguest, vaguest sense. I mentioned once for a college report that the English dub of DBZ inspired me to become a voice actor myself. That was before I actually became one.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I see and yes I understand.
DBZ was an excellent choice. I woulda' done the same thing. How did the class react btw?

Re: Have you ever?
Once in high school. But I was doing a presentation about comics in general and Dragon Ball was just one of my examples for manga. No one made fun of me because they all knew I was the girl who loved and drew comics. I don't remember anyone in my class who made fun of other kids because they were into anime (or Dragon Ball in particular). At least I didn't know assholes like that anyway.
Re: Have you ever?
Very vaguely in... I think 2 essays.
One was a paper about hindsight and if looking back is good (stupid topic, I know) where I mentioned the Toonami days seeming awesome and turning out to not be.
The other, we were told to write our own legend in classical style in 6th grade. I used the Boo saga as mine.

No, that would be kind of awkward, I did do a presentation about DVDs, HD-DVDs and Blu-rays difference/quality.

I remember I use pictures of Dragon Ball Z for a clip show during the 5th grade. I was going to do a paper on #17 in my technology class in the 10th grade about robots but someone already took #17 and I took Dog from Half Life 2 instead.

Re: Have you ever?
HAHAHA Good topic!!! Back in high school, I had to write a complete novel. The entire novel was based off of a mixture of Fallout 3 and Dragon Ball. I thought it was horrible, but I just kept writing whatever was on my mind to finally finish it. My teacher praised me for it, which is the funny part.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

Re: Have you ever?
I bring the series up often to show examples of tropes and what not.
Also, when I knew I was failing exams in high school, I change the topic and start having one-sided conversations with the assessor. Topics have included Zombies, X-men, Dragon Ball, horror films, Terminator, and Batman. And that my friends, is why I no longer take any interest physics, or calculus.

Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!
Re: Have you ever?
In 10th grade we were tasked with making a DOSO(Den Obligatoriske Store Opgave or The Obligatory Big Assignment), which is an assignment about one's career plan. In my DOSO I talked about my aspirations of becoming a cartoonist and used my presentation to talk a little about DB and manga in general compared to Western Comics.

Re: Have you ever?
Sadly...yes...I have.
It was 11th grade I think, maybe 10th, and one of the required classes for us was 'Speech', where we would give speeches, have debates, etc. and one of the assignments was some sort of...hmm. I honestly can't remember what the requirement was at all, but we were free to do the speech on anything we wanted. Anything. So being unafraid to show my nerdy side, I naturally did a story covery of Dragon Ball/Z/GT and tried to explain to my 'peers' why it was a good story. Frankly, I did pretty horribly with it and not just because I knew my classmates had ZERO interest in the subject - it was just a pretty crappy speech overall. I think I could have done better with it now.
I remember having a power-point worked up with slides of pictures and finer plot points, as well as bringing in a VHS tape with the 'The World of Dragon Ball Z' feature thing that FUNimation had made, to show to the class too.
If I were still in high school, would I still have done it? Honestly...I probably would have. I was a lot meeker back then and still managed to do it, so yeah, I'd probably do it still yet. Of course, if I were in high school with my current attitude I'd also be in trouble every day for telling people where to stick it when they were being jerks...so probably for the best that I graduated before becoming more self-confident, even if standing up for myself more would have been fun.

In a presentation during my senior year of high school, I stuck a picture of King Vegeta on the title slide. When questioned why he was there, I argued how he was relevant since he was royalty and explained some back story of Planet Vegeta and what not.....
yeah....my group for that presentation wasn't allowed to work together anymore haha

Re: Have you ever?
I think I have as part of some webpage design thing in Grade 9. I did a page on Dragonball- I remember me and my friends were finding all these gif images from the later movies which hadn't been released then.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.
Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Well "hot" is subjective, and I'm sure there's attractive girls that like cartoons, in fact I'm positive.samuraix123 wrote:No and I really wouldn't want too. I mean talking about a cartoon in front of hot girls ain't gonna help you

Re: Have you ever?
Um ... sort of?
We had to make a conversation-heavy video for my Japanese 201/202 class second semester my freshman year. If anyone has ever used the Genki! series of books (I think they've been mentioned on the Daizex podcast a few times as well), we decided to take the Takeshi character and give him an part time job with the Yakuza.
I edited it, so at the beginning I just slapped a big ol' background of Dragon Balls and overlaid two lines of text reading, "Takeshi Meets the Yakuza! The Final Battle Begins!!" along with a trumpet cue.
Probably not the most tasteful thing I've ever done, and I think maybe only two other people in the class actually got it, but whatever.

Re: Have you ever?
Yup. Last year I did a sales pitch in my public speaking class why you should buy the Dragon Boxes. Also, we had to do, I think it was like a monologue. All, I know is that the character had to be speaking to themselves so, I did Vegeta's "Number One" speech.
