The thing is that they kind of have too if they don't want any trouble in the near future. As I posted earlier, false advertising is a very possible outcome from this issue if they do not come out with something more official then that beta-tester post on their forums. If it is indeed a manufacturing error then they should have found that out by now given all the calls, and that probably would have been the first place they looked in my opinion.Orochi_Rockman wrote:I just knew that the US having even the slightest possibility of seeing the EU Collector's Edition was too good to be true.
I doubt they'll do anything to make up for this.
I don't know what they are waiting for. Honestly, I wonder if they are stuck for a solution. While it doesn't really cost them that much to re-press the game so that it is right, they are still looking at a pretty massive recall and redistribution. I just hope they do the right thing very soon.

Capcom had this exact problem with the supposed Director's Cut of Resident Evil for the PSOne. Capcom of America mistakenly edited out everything that they were supposed to leave in for that particular release.
Capcom didn't do anything about that, and Atari more than likely isn't going to do anything about this.

As disappointing as that is, you've got a good point. I'm just hoping, (if not in vain now,) that Atari will show some class. Now that you mention Capcom and RE: Directer's Cut, I wonder if the same thing didn't happen to Budokai 3 GH by mistake. This is a dark hour for DBZ gaming fans, that much is certain.Orochi_Rockman wrote:Capcom had this exact problem with the supposed Director's Cut of Resident Evil for the PSOne. P.S. Sorry about that double post. I don't know why that happened.

They'll fix it, they don't have any choice. This is a different matter than the RE:DC game if only in fan base and size. The backlash from doing nothing is not something Atari would want to deal with. A False Advertising suit would only be the beginning me thinks.

If not just a false advertising suit, the backlash from a public relations standpoint would go down substantially. If Atari wants to keep the DBZ game franchise alive, then the fanbase of DBZ has to be able to trust them in the gaming realm (which I assume they want just as much.) If they are looking at it from that point of view then they might do something about it. What and when is up to speculation, of course. I read in a game review for Tenkaichi that the Budokai series, right now, is one of the few vertebraes they have (pun intended.) But there's always the outside possibility that they don't and we just get screwed. I rue the day that happens, though.

I have put it as headline news on www.myfavoritegames.com , hopefully our whorishly high google ratings will help the situation.
Yeah, Atari would be committing company suicide not to fix this. Or they'll rush BT 2 out...and it'll suck, which...leads to the same point.
If they ever make a GC version, that'll at least do it...I mean, since no one will play it n' all.

I think backlash aside, not fixing this might be a smart move anyway, since they've taken a few quarterly profit hits, and lost quite a bit of income as a result of various poorly recieved releases. I think fixing what might only be mis-prints of a few of the printings (it also could highly likely be that they will make the changes as soon as they've confirmed anything) could cost them quite a bit of money on the recall, money I imagine they were looking forward too due to popularity involved with Sparking! (why else would they include Japanese voices?)Orochi_Rockman wrote:Not fixing this isn't going to bother Atari in the slightest. While the DBZ fanbase is quite large, the percentage of people within said fanbase that would care about the Japanese voices issue is really small.
The "backlash" will be minimal, if any.
One can only imagine their lack of direct, and focused action is due to them cloak-and-daggering the whole thing without making it really known (I imagine if they do, it might cause a rather large uproar, considering the size of people who like to complain in general outweighs the people who care, or dont care 10:1) so I don't expect they will really make an official mention of this happening; more than likely to try to forget it, for the sake of edging profit.

Personally, since monday, i figured that we wouldnt see results this week (I still believe we'll see them thou). I mean you do what happens this week .
I bet by the end of Chirstmas or New Years (hope not, but it may seem like it), well start seeing results.
Sidenote, its would be cheaper and easier for them to reprint than to leave it (if they want to avoid legal isuses). I mean technically speaking, its more of a matter of "They have to do it !!" then "Do they want to do it ??". Look at Midway with Midway Arcade Treasures 2. They almost had an Atari moment. The only reason that they got away with not putting MK1 in at last minute was that they took it off the box. The moral of the story, if its not on the box, they could have done what ever they want. Kinda of a scary thought. Fortunitlly for us, Atari has lost that loop hole !!

I just got off the phone with someone at Atari who immediately told me that the voices were unlockables. After I told him that people had completed the game with no voices, and had made absolutely sure that this was the same game, he told me he couldn't answer gameplay questions. Okay. Something tells me Atari is backing off here.

You have good fore-sight Blastero. A very reliable sorce just informed me minutes ago that he looked at B3 GH at our local Best Buy the other day and it no longer lists the special features on the back. I asked him if he was positive and he said, quote, "Yeah, it had that special cover you were talking about and everything." In otherwords, this is probably what they ment by a resolution after the holidays. They have now made it just the same game with a spiffy new cover. If that's the case, Atari can take my loyalty and shove it someplace dark and damp. That's right, you heard me, THE CLOSET!Blastero wrote:I just got off the phone with someone at Atari who immediately told me that the voices were unlockables. That was rather obvious. Like I said last post, I highly doubt that this will escalate into more than a community affair; and what with the way they respond to your inqueries, I think hope all across the country has been dashed.Captain Obvious wrote:I just got off the phone with someone at Atari who immediately told me that the voices were unlockables. Edit:
I am thinking about ringing up Atari and complaining, just to throw another hat onto the wrack. -goes to examine the website for a phone number-
