Neko Majin Z fun-theory
Since Neko Majin Z 5 clearly takes place pre-GT, if it were to take place in canon that is, and since Thunderbolt was the strongest on the planet, do you think this means Thunderbolt won the 29th budoukai on Neko Majin Earth?

It'd probably be a tie between Thunderbolt and Hercule, considering they both seem to be like brothers, I mean just look at their mannerisms, attitudes, and cowardliness fears. Buu would obviously let Hercule win, or Buu would probably get tricked by Thunderbolt into throwing the match. Could you honestly imagine a match between Thunderbolt and Hercule? I'm thinking a 10 minute talking and posing marathon, followed by another 5 minutes of a stare contest, then they'd both make a charge attack ... but who would be the winner? I'd love to see a fan manga about that.

14 years later
Ah, but Mr. Buu is prancing around the world during the Neko Majin Z manga, so maybe he forgot to come win all the matches for Satan. Satan would have to fight the winner of the budoukai, Thunderbolt, so after the pozing and staring and grunting you mentioned, they'd fight for a bit and then Satan would "be honored to relinquished his title to such a strong opponent."

It's a discussion all in fun. I fully agree. I also feel that GT doesn't take place in the manga's reality.Mr. Robot wrote:In my view Neko Majin Z doesn't take place per se. It's an alternate reality, kind of like the movies.

It's true, there's no way Goten can be any younger than he was at the end of DBZ, seeing as Uub is present(in Neko Majin), and Uub wasn't introduced to Goku until the end of Z, so NMZ would take place after Z, but I never imaginged it fitting in the actual storyline.B-kun wrote:Neko Majin can't really take place at all. Aside from the Goku action figure, note that Goten looks way too young when seen.
Then again, Goten's hair looks considerably longer, also the fact that Toriyama went back to the old style of his art, and the characters in the anime always seem to be more muscly and bigger, where the manga makes them out to be a bit more punier.
Quick example...
Look at Buu's arms in this picture...

Ok, now look at his arms in this picture, which is literally the same fight, except in Toriyama's old style(which I find much better).

See the resemblence? Good, neither do I, because Toriyama draws the arms much thinner, not macho man style, the anime make them out to be larger.
So Neko Majin could really have taken place after all...since Goten would look younger anyway due to Toriyama's old style.

Ok, I'm not arguing that NMZ is canon. The first four out of five issues prove there's no way it can be.
As for Goten, he does seem to have de-aged about 3 years instead of aged like Pan and Uub. I think Toriyama accidently added onto Goten's age from when he was a shown in the Buu saga instead of the budoukai. Then again, as Bejita mentioned, Toriyama has reverted to his older style of drawing manga, so Goten does only look like an older version of "Boy" instead of anybody from DB.

Clearly you're the one who "is just so lame" as you haven't read the first post. As I have stated in three posts now, this thread is not about proving if NMZ is cannon. It was simply supposed to be a fun discussion along the lines of a "what-if" since elements of the parody make NMZ take place in the Dragonworld. However, you've successfully stripped this conversation of any such fun, and showed me the light. Don't worry, from now on I'll only take part in threads that make fun of people too.Sun_Wukong wrote:WOW......
Do you really need to argue if a parody manga is cannon? This is just so lame...
God, when did everybody on these boards become such self-serving pricks?!

No way! 14 tiles was his best during his prime, and if NMZ were in cannon, Satan would be old as hell and way out of practice. We're talking (what-if) 29th budoukai here, so if Buu wasn't participating then Satan'd be up the creek!Deus ex Machina wrote:Are you kidding?! Thunderbolt's got nothing on Mr. Satan! The man can break 20 roofing tiles in a single blow! What can Thunderbolt do? Crush an apple, big whoop-dee-doo. And let's not forget the legendary Mega-Ton Punch!

Wait wait wait...we can discuss how the Movies, not made by Toriyama-Sensei can fit, but we can't discuss how Neko Majin Z, which is made by Toriyama-sensei, could fit?
In some ways, the movies are MORE of parodys, too.
The only thing, off the top of my head, that blows NMZ out of canon-ness, is Vegeta being dispatched by Freeza? Or am I simply remembering incorrectly?

Dayspring - the word is canon. =D Not a weapon.
Duo - Well, there are certain DB movies that actually do take place in the anime (note the word "anime"). And I forgot about the Kuriiza story. Yeah, his being dispatched by Freeza (and later complaining about never being in another gag manga) and those two other Saiyans, who fight Neko Majin also discount it. And also Goten looking rathing young.
I just see it for what it is - a gag manga created for fun. I don't see much need for trying to canonize it.

Well, yeah, I figure they aren't really MEANT to be in the series, but fact of the matter is, SOME can (not the word "SOME"). Movie 5 in the three year tainign, movie 9 after Cell, 13 after Buu, etc. Almost ironically, movie 1's supposed to take place in canon, but it doesn't.
But really, don't want to turn this into a movie canon debate. Too many of those as-is.

You're right, which is why I'm not going to point out the flaws of the movies you said fit (mostly 5).
Anyway...I think if NMZ is meant to take place at any point in relation to the Manga...it'd be pretty soon after the end. I do like how it gives off the "All the worries are goofing off in peace" feel...

After such a stink about calling me a grammar nazi, you go after such a simple/b] spelling error influenced by someone else?B-kun wrote:Dayspring - the word is canon. =D Not a weapon.

[EDIT: Damn! Another typo!

And movies five and nine can't take place. Too many inconsistencies with the series!

Yeah, if not for the Goten thing, only chapter 5 could be canon. Onio's presence discounts chapters 1-3, as does the fact that SSJ Vegeta is still working for Freeza. Chapter four shows that the events of Dragonball, with the exemption of Satan City and Majin Buu's existence, never took place at all; it was simply a manga. Chapter five works, but then Goten comes along looking only ten years old.
