It's in the first post.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Love Chilled's design. But yeah, if this was tweaked a little (fix the color of Bardock's tail, new image of Chilled, accurate specs on the back, Japanese text version) I would totally use it when my copy of Saikyo Jump comes in.

I have a question that might be stupid (and off-topic), but...
How do you get that 3D DVD-like image?

I know Lunapic let's you transform a square image into a cube-like box (like a box to put 10 audio CDs in it, and with the same image on every side of it), but this is much more evolved!! Can somebody tell me about how to have that kind of 3D-like render of a hypothetical DVD box, please?

I have to say your version of DVD box looks cool, but the style of it makes me think it would be perfect for Japan, but probably changed for the US. Well, I'm French, so I can't properly judge, but judging by my imagination, it perfectly looks like the kind of DVD I would find in a Japanese store, but I can't imagine finding this in an American store somehow. And I'm not saying this because of all the Japanese language, even if switched to American, I still think the style of it is... "very Japanese" somehow, which isn't a bad thing for Dragon Ball actually! :)

That is just fantastic. Even though you took up this project on your own, I still feel like I should thank you. It's pretty darn professional looking, and totally matches the atmosphere of the feature.

Since you seem so ambitious, perhaps you'd be up to modifying the cover to have information about Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans? (since it is a double feature) If not, I'm still definitely using this.

To be honest...I don't know how to make these 3-d preveiws. I modded one made by dbboxkaifan.

Thank you for the comments! :D

By double feature..the official DVD also comes with Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans? Or will you be casing both? But anyways..I could give it a shot :D

Too bad, I tried to find virtual covers creators but they are all for sale. It's just for making virtual covers we'll never even have for real, that should be freeware! :x
Oh well, thanks for showing me it is possible for anybody to make virtual DVD covers anyway! Maybe one day, I'll find one that's nice and free! :)

The outer glow on Bardock is bad... tone down the range of it, or the size of the glow, then it'll look much better. Adding glow to pictures is hit or miss, I know this first hand. But overall I like the double feature box.

Yea, I know what you mean. Sometimes though these kinds of glows show up fainter when printed. So..batistabus when you print it out can you post a photo of it when it's cased to see what it looks like? thank you! :D

I found that the cover fit better in a thin case. In a normal sized DVD case, the "divider" seems to be too small, and the ends of the front and back end up on the spine. That's perfectly fine for me, because I was planning on putting it in this type of case anyway. My printer isn't fantastic, but I still think it looks great.

The original was already good, but that's even better. It really feels like a collection regrouping two features!
Again, I can't figure out what that is, but the way you made it, the way pictures and texts are organized, the overall presentation really feels... "Japanese" somehow, which perfectly fits! 8)

thank you again for the compliments!

batistabus, I think I know what you mean. This happened to another dvd set cover I made. See how you can see the yellow? Is that what you mean, regarding the spine?

I'm not really sure, I just clicked print. Um...Windows Photo Viewer? For my printer, I had to scale down the size, but its because the aspect ratio was too large (long) for my printer.

I used UnderCoverXP. It's free and works well. You can also scale for thin cases :D
