Kai 1-4 DVD and Blu ray discontinued!

The North American anime retailer Right Stuf revealed on Friday that Funimation has discontinued several titles. These include:

Dragon Ball Z Kai parts 1-4 (DVD & Blu-ray)
Kodocha seasons 1-2 (DVD)
Nerima Daikon Brothers (DVD)
Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles (DVD and Blu-ray)
Additionally, two live action films, Ghost Train and Synethesia, have also been discontinued. Right Stuf noted that once current stocks are depleted, they will no longer be available.

Funimation also announced on Thursday that it has ceased production on volumes of Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray editions beginning with Level 2.1 (originally scheduled for March 27) due to the demanding tasks of remastering the series in HD. The company stated that it is looking into more efficient means of continuing the release.

Speaking of this topic, it's not FUNi's own affirmative decision. They are forced to discontinue these releases because of Yamamoto's fault. It's a story that is totally different than that of the Z level sets.

Wow. Do you guys think this means they will release Parts 1-4 with the Kikuchi score? Sigh, what a bummer , what happened to Yamamoto's score. At least we're getting a consistent release. However, I do believe that an all Kikuchi version of the show will repel some fans. Oh well.

Does this mean that it's probable that the first 3 parts will never contain the Kukichi score?

From what folks on this very forum have said that have purchased it -- both before and after Amazon pulled its listing -- the "Season One" double-set of Kai contains the original Yamamoto broadcast score.

Very odd that FUNI would do this. What I get from this is that TOEI will not be re-scoring the first three parts of the series. I do own a Part 4 Blu Ray with the Kikuchi score. Apparently that is a rare item in North America.

I have been trying to collect the first four volumes of Kai, preferably on Blu-Ray(but am settling for a couple of affordable DVD sets when it comes to parts three and four), just for the Yamamoto score. Anyway, today I received season one part four, and the back reads that it contains the original Japanese score, while still crediting Yamamoto in the smaill print. I thought part four still had Yamamotos music.

Can anyone confirm this, one way of another, for me?

The Region A/B FUNimation DBZ Kai Blu-ray Part 4 features Kenji Yamamoto's soundtrack, Australia's Blu-ray is known to have Kikuchi's soundtrack, apparently.

I wouldn't bother praising Parts 1 to 4 just because they have Yamamoto's music due to Nagasaki's incompetence.

True, but at least its not as oddly placed as the Kikuchi score. Does the standard DVD version also have the Yamamoto score? Because thats the version I bought, but have not yet opened.

Check on the tiny text written below the disc tech features.

The tiny text reads: "Music: Kenji Yamamoto", but among the list of features under the "The Legendary Z Reborn" moniker, it reads: "Featuring the original Japanese score", although they could just be hilighting the fact that the music from the Japanese release of Kai is also included.
