Who is watching their Dragon Boxes these days?

Post by dprez » Mon Jan 30, 2012 11:06 pm

Ever since I got all 7 a few months ago, I have been watching every episode off and on since, in Japanese of course.

Am currently on episode 286, and about to finish watching DBZ in it's original form for the first time. I'm happy and sad at the same time, knowing how great this ride has been, but also that it is ending soon.

So I was just curious, out of all the Dragon Ball fans who frequent Daizenshuu EX, which of you are currently watching DBZ in Dragon Box form? What episode are you on, and how do you feel about your personal experience of watching DBZ in it's purest form for the first time?

I'm watching the end of the Boo saga and parts of the Cell Game.

I'm amazed by how beautiful the picture is, especially during the high quality animated episodes. I've also noticed small details I've never noticed before!
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Yes, the quality is absolutely amazing. I was actually stunned at how great the show looked like this. So clean and crystal clear.

I'm still going strong with my marathon. I've been watching mine almost everyday since I got the ones I needed a couple months ago. I watch about 3-5 episodes a day. Right now I'm in the middle of the Buu arc (Dragon Box 6, disc 35).

I just can't get over how gorgeous they look. 8)

I already finished the the seventh box about a month ago, but it definitely was a much better experience after watching the Orange Bricks.

I really need to do a marathon of these boxes. Believe it or not, I haven't watched any of FUNi Dragon Boxes.
Strike that, I watched one episode, where Trunks tells Goku about the future events.

I think I might start this in a few days. They way I watch TV DVD/BD's, I'll probably watch the whole thing in less than a month.

I went on a bit of a marathon after getting the 6th set while waiting for the 7th set. After it came out, I finished the series and haven't really watched much since then. I started watching more of the Blue Bricks, but that sort of trailed off after I skipped around and watched my favorite parts first.

I'm sort of on a break from watching the series right now. I still like it a lot, but I don't want to burn myself out on the series. I'll come back to it sooner or later.

I started watching them as I was able to start getting them last October. Currently mid-way through Volume 6, with Volume 7 arriving next week.
First time watching all of Z in such great quality and with next episode previews, which I've found really funny. And because of the ending credits, I was able to find out the name of the old martial artist in the pre-Cell Games filler, Rao Chuu.

Eagerly awaiting more Dragon Box releases.

I would be trying to get the whole set if it weren't for the reason of probably never getting ahold of Dragon Box 2... :(

I've been watching DB since the end of Summer. Started with DB and I'm currently on DBZ. Cell will appear at any moment. ;) I'm so happy I got all DBoxes and I don't have to worry about them anymore.

I've watched all the way through Box 6. I've been watching them with my girlfriend so we're taking a little break before we finish. We're watching the dub (gasp!), but once we finish, I'm going to watch them all in Japanese (by myself), so that will probably go faster since we won't have to coordinate schedules as much.

It's interesting to watch the English dub with the Japanese BGM. Sometimes it clashes, sometimes it works very well.

I began on the Dragon Boxes after completing the Blue Bricks in October 2010... The blue bricks took me 6 months to get through... And right now I just got finished the second disc for Box 4 Just for some prospective I was half way through Box 3 last year this time. I guess the good thing about going slow is that I can begin all over again once I'm done with Z... No GT.
I have a Dragon Ball collection of sorts which can be seen here.

Just finished episode 290 last night. Only one more to go! I have to make viewing this last episode special. Can't wait to see that GT preview!

The next time I commence a Dragon Box marathon, I'm gonna watch Dragon Ball first, which means I'll be picking up the Blue Bricks in the next couple of months when I have the cash. I seriously doubt a Dragon Box release for Dragon Ball will ever be released here in the states, so the Blue Bricks will work just fine. O how I hope and pray for a DragonBox: The Movies release.

I marathoned Cell Games to Trunks winning the Junior Division, but I've stopped for a while. I'll probably start back up over the next week or so.

I have watched every episode in consecutive order from the beginning through the Dragon Boxes. Right now I'm on episode 280 (it could get a bit too much). I'm watching them more as a student than as a fan this time around. What I'm doing is typing up a mini Dragon Ball encyclopedia for myself as I watch. I'm taking certain quotes (like proof of who's stronger, etc.) from episodes, some translation comparisons (what was said in the Japanese version versus the English dub), name spellings, attack spellings, episode titles, etc.

I started this project from my original Dragon Ball singles and the Dragon Balls were actually a blessing because I thought I would have to continue this with the DBZ Season Sets. However, as I was just about to finish up the original Dragon Ball, the Dragon Boxes were announced and well...haven't looked back since. Next I plan to do GT (through the singles, not the Season Sets) and the movies. Oh, and I have all of the manga now so I'll probably cross over into manga comparisons (name spellings between the original and Viz...that is if the names in the Japanese manga and anime are the same). It's a pretty big project, to be honest and many times very difficult; especially with the dub subtitles taken out of the later releases. I find myself often popping in my old singles to check the dub spelling for certain characters or references, etc.
