Alternative Bardock Crew?

Post by Tanooki Kuribo » Fri Dec 23, 2005 3:26 pm

I came across this image in one of those Dragonball guides, Iam guessing this is just an alternative Bardock crew that just was never used or evolved into the crew we know today. I thought it was pretty cool to see. Here is the image...

This is what the whole page looked like...

SWEET!! Thank you SO much for those pics! My guess is that they were just initial character designs and that Toriyama only liked Bardock.

Totepo just got a little bit of hair! Looks like we've got a Vegeta relative and a very pissy looking Saiyajin female. Her Saiyajin armor looks pretty neat though.

:P Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, Bardock, the pantsless wonder!

Actually Toteppo LOST hair; he's the smallest of the Saiyans in this version-notice the scar. I guess Toriyama felt it best if Pan Bukin was the smallest instead. Glad he made that call, though all four Saiyans look awesome. For some reason I wish we saw Toma-Vegeta as an elite Saiyan in the special now. :P

Hey, some of them have different names as well.

The woman is named "Kôn". (Corn, I would guess)

The bald one is "Jaga" (I think. Can't see it properly. Damn katakana)
Where's the beef?

I wonder why if it was TOEI who changed the names to Toma et al, or Toriyama?

How awesome would it be if Toriyama did a one-shot with this group?! :o

... I think I just fanboygasmed a little. :P

Well, Jaga obviously comes from the Japanese word for "potato"....

Is the other guy in the crew named different?

I can see why Toriyama-Sensei didn't go with that group. That was probably the first time he saw that Toei was doing non-black haired Saiya-Jins and said "Hey guys, they all have black hair", and they replied "Ooh...oops."

And yet there are still Sai-jins in the specail that don't have black hair. With 3 of those in that time he just tweaked a few things. Looks like a name change and hair style change were all Seripa got, Toma got shorter and a new hair style, and maybe a few face changes. And then Tottepo got taller. That big guy was the only one ditched completely it seems.

I believe those were Nakatsuru's original designs for the characters. Toriyama came and re-did all the designs and changed some names :). That's another reason why we haven't premiered the Bardock tidbit page... we want to add in all the Nakatsuru stuff.

So more information/images to come on that, soon! Eventually! At some point! I promise!

Thanks for clearing that one up, because I've been wondering for a while what Toriyama's message said when he said "he changed them".

I dunno, folks. I prefer the finished designs. o_o The ones in that guide are abit..ugly lookin' to me. >_>; I dunno, I guess I just prefer Toriyama's finished designs rather than the others. I simply can't see Bardock in Radditz's or Nappa's armor. >_>;
