Who is watching their Dragon Boxes these days?
Re: Who is watching their Dragon Boxes these days?
Got 1-6 all in one purchase from Amazon when they were all $23.99 over the summer (except 2, which I got from RightStuf a month after for $29.99 plus shipping). I'm still on box 3, episode 91. I've been watching them on and off since I got them, but I'll finish them all soon enough.
I've been opening the boxes as I go through them, so boxes 4, 5 and 6 are still in plastic.. I just hope none of them are scratched or there's something wrong with them because otherwise I'm screwed. There's no way I could return them now.

Yup.. I just checked my receipt, I got it on August. I was searching to hell and back just like a lot of people are now, but there was a sales weekend at Rightstuf with all Dragonboxes for $29.99, and to my surprise Dbox 2 was there too.. I snatched that thing up before you could say sold.Dandroid17 wrote:$29.99 for Box 2...JEALOUS!Daimakku wrote:Got 1-6 all in one purchase from Amazon when they were all $23.99 over the summer (except 2, which I got from RightStuf a month after for $29.99 plus shipping). I really wish FUNimation would simply print more volume 2s to stop those scalpers from charging ridiculous prices for them.

Yeah me too. I wonder why Box 3 hasn't gone up too much yet? That's, unfortunately, the only one I own currently. Grateful for it of course, but at the same time I'd like to complete the set eventually.Daimakku wrote: Yup.. I just checked my receipt, I got it on August. Is it just me, or is the Goku vs. Oob fight one of the greatest in the entire DBZ anime.
What a bad ass fight that was. Perfect for the final episode of this epic fighting series. The manga version was way to short, even though it gave you the gist of it, the anime makes it freakin' awesome. Oob went toe-to-toe with Goku. That little dude is strong as hell!

I did like Goku vs. Oob a lot in the anime, there was just something magical to it I can't really explain, being the last fight of the series and all.
As for the topic, I am currently on a forced hiatus. I was in the middle of Box 4 and my little brother really scratched up one of my disks, it's completely unplayable (this was actually a few months after it arrived so I don't think Rightstuf would issue a replacement even if they had extra copies). It's just that one disk though, so I can't find myself wanting to buy the whole box again even if I suppose I must if I want to continue (I have to go in order, it's a curse). If that didn't get in my way though, I would probably be done with all of the boxes but 7, which I do not currently own.
How troublesome, huh?

Oh shit yea... I have the same fear, I've been overseas ever since the 4th box came out! I'm fortunate that I have still been able to purchase the remaining 3 and there waiting for me back home!Daimakku wrote: I've been opening the boxes as I go through them, so boxes 4, 5 and 6 are still in plastic.. Theres obviously the thought that they might not be in mint condition ...

Sadly, I haven't watched any of them. I do plan to marathon them at some point but thank god I got Box 2 while they were in stock long ago. But when they got out of stock, I saw my local anime store had a copy for sale and of course when I wanted to order it online the following week, they were out. I really kick myself for not getting it while they had it. >^<
I also decided to buy extra copies of 1 and 3 (keeping them sealed) before they went out cuz I know their prices will eventually sky rocket.

- Been a Dragon Ball fan ever since 1995 (at the time, I was 7 years old).
- I prefer Saffron Henderson's Kid Gohan and Kid Goku over Stephanie Nadolny's.
- I still hope for a redub of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z with FUNimation's current cast.
- I prefer to watch Dragon Ball Z with the Faulconer Score, however I do not mind the original Japanese score.

Man that sucks. I wouldn't let my little brother anywhere near my precious Dragon Box discs!
As soon as I got mine, I opened all of them and checked every disc. Box 3 was the only Box itself that was damaged. The plastic inside that holds the DVD's was broke up, but no biggy really. If I noticed a disc had a smudge/scratch or something, I'd immediately pop it in the DVD player to see if it worked. I guess I was lucky that every single disc in every single DBox was perfect!Daimakku wrote:I've been opening the boxes as I go through them, so boxes 4, 5 and 6 are still in plastic.. Now that I have finished DBZ, I wait patiently for a potential Movie Box, and some kind of hint that a Dragon Ball Dragon Box will be released sometime in the future. Having the two movie packs and the blue bricks would be good enough, but I'll be able to wait a good while until I have the craving for another Dragon Ball binge.
Re: Who is watching their Dragon Boxes these days?
My Box 5 was damaged but not the discs thankfully.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.
Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Re: Who is watching their Dragon Boxes these days?
I watched Vol. 1-4 as they were released, but lost interest in collecting the Dragon Boxes when Vol. 5 was delayed until Spring 2011. However, I just ordered Vol. 5-7 through Amazon, so I'm definitely going to take a few hours each day over the next month or two slowly working my way through them. For the previous boxes, as well as the Dragon Ball remastered sets, I just had a handful of long marathon sessions, where I was completely burnt out by the end.
So yeah, I haven't watched 1-4 in at least a year, but I'm definitely hyped to watch 5-7 once they arrive. I've never seen the end of the Cell arc or the entirety of the Buu arc uncut, with the original Japanese audio. Hell, I haven't even watched a good chunk of the Cell arc aside from the original Toonami airings. Should be a nice change of pace from watching The Arrival of Raditz for the umpteenth time.

It's been done countless times before, but...
