yeah true, it's just a lot more than they were a few months ago, the blu rays were cheaper than the regular dvds at one point (on amazon), i think they were around 17 bucks each.

by the way, what does Zed Kai mean exactly? I've heard others use that name before

Kinda. The English letter "Z" comes from the Greek letter "Z", pronounced "Zeta". The Spanish "Z" is also pronounced "Seta". It's really only in the USA that it's pronounced "Zee".

It's with the letter Z and pronounced as Zeta, Seta's Sé-e-ta, different pronunciation.

Parts 1-4 are already discontinued. Updates from FUNimation to Crunchyroll News imply that all future single-volume (these two-disc "Part" releases) are also discontinued exclusively in favor of the "season" sets -- which means no "Part 7" in March.

I emailed FUNimation Product Concerns and asked them about the Kai Parts. They said they're still on schedule and Parts 7 & 8 will be released as planned. At least for now.

That's good to hear. On CrunchyRoll, they say:

To add to the news of the cancellation, FUNimation has also confirmed that it has also discontinued Dragon Ball Z Kai on DVD and Blu-Ray, with no word on its immediate status.

Update: Funimation emailed me to let me know that while Dragon Ball Kai is being discontinued in single volumes, the series will be instead be released in Season sets, with the Season 2 set covering Parts 3 and 4 being released this Summer.

However, in that note, they link to the announcement on RightStuf, which says:

FUNimation Entertainment announced a number of titles have been discontinued, including Dragon Ball Z Kai Parts 1 through 4 on both DVD and Blu-ray

So, I think the CrunchyRoll reporter misinterpreted the announcement, since the announcement only mentions Parts 1 through 4. When they posted the update, I think FUNimation was only talking about 1 through 4 becoming available only through the Season Sets, though the reporter thought they were still talking about all of them.

I don't know why, but I think FUNimation is trying to confuse us again. I got this in my email today. It's a reply to a question I sent to them on Sunday about their press release.

Kai part 7 will be released in a season set. So you should look for its
corresponding season when it comes out. The sites you visited were correct.

There's only 26 days left till the 20th March 2012 arrives, I for one am not worried about Zed Kai Part Seven because I genuinely believe it'll be released and can't wait for Zed Kai Part Eight (Kai Gohan SSJ2 ).

No reason for FUNi to discontinue parts 5-8, I agree with them about 1-4.

It's pointless to buy Parts 1-4 or 1-8 if you're new to the Zed Kai Blu-rays or DVDs, just go with the Season Sets, it's 4 in total and better than 13/12/11 eps per volume.

I do wanna see Zed Kai Part Seven trailer, though...

funimation is really being dumb these past couple of weeks.

Will there still be a part 8 if the y release part 7 as a season set.
These season sets are going to have more that 20 episodes I supposed.

Will Dragon Ball Z Kai Part 7 be released as planned or is it in fact canceled?

All future Releases will actually be in Season Sets, so there will not be just a part seven. It will be released in the season set.

With Season 2 being released sometime this summer, I take it fans that have up to part 6 will be waiting until sometime in 2014 for season 4. Another canceled Dragon Ball release. Sometimes I swear they do this stuff on purpose to get us to double dip. I'm glad I never got in to Kai at all. I do feel sorry for the fans out there that are now stuck at part 6 for possibly years to come.

Anyways, just wanted to share that email with you guys.
