In Raging Blast 2, Bandai/Spike has Teen Gohan and Adolescent Gohan, but what's confusing is the age of "Teen Gohan", he's 11 years old, and adolescent is also another word for teen.
I get that Spike was putting effort into the game but Teen/Adolescent just weren't suited correctly.
Pre-Teen Gohan > Teen Gohan
Adolescent Gohan > Gohan adolescent
This was discussed before I know but it is misguiding.
They allow "kill", "hell" but yet "darn" and Mr. Satan's real name is censored?

That's just a carry-over from FUNimation's marketing of the character, which itself is a carry-forward from their first dub of the series back in 1996 when he announces that he's "five and a half" to Bulma (instead of four), which in turn ages him up incorrectly throughout the entire course of their English dub.
In the Japanese versions of the games, they have traditionally broken him down into things like younen, shounen, and seinen naming conventions.

It's been like that since the days of Budokai 2 or 3 onwards.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.
Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

It seems it began with Budokai 1.
Dragon Ball Wiki states "Teen Gohan" on DBZ Ultimate Battle 22, but I just checked my copy and he's just Gohan (Super Saiyan).
Goku SSJ is Mega Goku
Majin Boo is Majin Boo
Tenshinhan is Ten Chin Han
Kaioshin is Kaioshin
Ginyu is Genious
I guess back then with DBZ UB22, Mr. Satan would stay as Mr. Satan.

It always pisses me off when people refer to Cell Games Gohan as a "teen". He's what, eleven? A few years do make a difference.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

You left out a number. That's SS3 Gokuu who's named "Mega Goku". I don't know whether or not it's like this in the Japanese version, but they really did choose odd names for some of the characters. Kind of the same for Final Bout (

at multiple Gokuus), but to a lesser extent.

I seriously dont understand why Funimation felt the need to change his age, it just makes no sense to me at all.

Certain policies for TV programs at the time affected how they dubbed it or so goes the saying.

If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Perhaps because, if he was younger, people may've complained about a four-year-old getting beaten up by an adult. I mean, it's still a child whether or not he's four or five, but I guess FUNimation decided that it was less violent if he was older.
Aside from that, FUNimation and other companies make a lot of weird changes that don't have anything to do with marketing or censorship.

Children in peril was a thing that censors used to have field days over. I remember the season 1 & 2 Digikids were also aged a year in America too because of that.
As for why they called the Cell-era "Teen" I'm guessing it was due to how they marketed in the games with not knowing how to separate his young versions. Heck, his version just called "Gohan" was more of the "Teen Gohan".

Dunno why they couldn't have just called his Saiyan-Freeza incarnation "Kid Gohan", his Cell arc incarnation "Gohan", and his Boo arc incarnation "Teen Gohan" (since he actually
was a teenager then).
