Would you buy a PSP for "Chou DBZ"?
If Shin Budokai for the PSP turns out to be a port of Chou DBZ, and no US PS2 release comes out (in order to boost PSP sales), would you buy a PSP if it wasn't in your plans to do so?
I know that some of you may think that "na, Atari would never release this game in the PSP and not the PS2 just to boost sales", but remember that Sega did that with Shenmue II (by releasing it for the Xbox and not for the Dreamcast -- US version always).
I think I would not buy a PSP, even for the sake of Shin Budokai ... although it's a nice portable, I decided to invest only in TV consoles... (PS3 / Xbox 360)

Chou DragonBall Z has already been announced for a PS2 release by Bandai, I don't think Atari is gonna make a downsized port of a PS2 game.
Nothing else has been revealed about "Shin Budokai", although I am betting anything it will be a remake of an recent Budokai game, perhaps the 1st one, but with characters and features found in the 2nd and 3rd games.

Not unless the PSP drops in price, I'm not paying $250 for something inferior to my Nintendo DS, which I paid $150 for. I wouldn't expect Atari to not release Chou DBZ in the US for PS2 anyway, seeing as how it's a great way for them to make more money.
I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.

I thought the DS was equal to a Nintendo 64 while PSP is a miniature PS2; I would hardly call PSP "inferior" to the DS. Unless of course, you are referring to game quality, which is a different subject altogether.
At any rate, since the PS2 IS the most spread-amongst-gamers console, a game in the PS2 would definitely give more money to Atari than in any other system... yet, we see many titles which are X-box or Gamecube exclusive, despite the PS2 being the most obvious route for sure profit...
I don't know.

To comment on the question posed in the topic: No, no I would not. I have little and no motivation to purchase a PSP, and even if this, or the mentioned Shin Budoukai was on it, I still would not have much more motivation.
As of present time, I've seen no games on the unit that interest me, nor the movie releases for that matter (which are 5$-to-10$ more expensive than normal DVDs as-is,) and not even the stand-alone functiions on the unit are enough to entice me into making such an investment.
If there ever comes a time when there are atleast 5 (or for my preference, more than 5) games on the unit that I am actually highly interested in, then I would purchase. This is also the same reasoning I give for not owning a Nintendo DS, with no future plans to buy either.

I already own a PSP.. so do I count? (I also own a DS, and love both systems equally, for the record.)
Whether it's a port of Chou DBZ, one of the Budokai games (Here's hoping for a port of 3..), or even Shin Butouden as speculated, chances are I'll be buying it. As long as it isn't a portable Sagas.

Heh. I can. I once bought a Sega Saturn just so that I could play Shin Butoden. Of course, I bought it for 50 bucks, so it was a steal....
Wow! I finally found a DBZ fan who thinks that the Cell saga cast was the worst of all! Will wonders never cease?Chuquita wrote: Besides if it turns out to be Chou they're putting on psp, it would only have Cell Saga characters on it, and that's my least favorite of the storylines.
Actually, I have seen a PSP in action and for a handheld I'm impressed, but I agree with lost in thought. The PSP has only two games that interest me so far (Metal Gear Aicd and a Japanese RPG), so I hardly call that a reason for a purchase... besides, the PS3 DBZ games in the following years are going to be total kick-ass!!

That's true. If I found a system that was perhaps packaged with a game I truly wanted, and it was for a pretty good deal (such as you described), then that my warrant me getting it. But for the most part, I just haven't been paying all that much attention to video game news these days to know about anything that I'd really want all that much. The three other people that I share my apartment with all own a lot of games and a lot of systems, so I mainly just mooch off of them besides what I already own.ngnikolaos wrote:Heh. I can. I actually got my PS2 last year because of Budokai 3.Socar15 wrote:=In fact, I can't really think of any one video game that would make me buy a system for that reason alone.
BUT, it wasn't the only game I was interested in for the system. It's just the one that really pushed me into considering finally getting a PS2.
As for the PSP, I'm not interested in it. I don't know of any games I want for it, I don't really have much money right now, and I've never been big on portable gaming.
The only reason I'd buy a PSP would be if I was going on a plane trip longer than 5 hours, I'm scared on planes and I think playing GTA Liberty City Stories or this new Budokai game would kill the time perfectly for me.
Since I'm not leaving the country, I ain't purchasing. Even for a DBZ game.
I think the Cell saga is decent enough. Are you talking about the dub? Maybe if you watched it in Japanese you'd think differently. Unless you're not talking about the dub...

To be honest, no, I wouldn't. Mainly due to the facts that 1) I'm only collecting the Ps2 games and 2) the PsP is far too much money right now to consider buying over one game. Despite it's a new DBZ release, I'll stick with my Ps2 till the first DBZ Ps3 release hits shelves (hell, I don't even know if I'll get a Ps3). In the mean time, I'll have 5 other games released by Atari, as well as the possibility that "Chou" will be coming to the Ps2 as it is. Also, why Atari would let go of a chance to give us yet another Ps2 game of DBZ, I don't see them doing that, especially when you consider the fact they came up with Sagas.Would you buy a PSP for Chou DBZ?

I played Smackdown vs. Raw yesterday while I had a concert on the TV and the concert ran for [I think,] 4 and a half hours. It ran out a while later so it isn't that short (and SvR is one pretty active game too, probably eats away at the power...).Izlude wrote:Too bad a PSP's battery life won't last that long.Bejiita wrote:The only reason I'd buy a PSP would be if I was going on a plane trip longer than 5 hours
