Why get the original PtEtS in Dragonbox quality when there's a HD remake already out there? Never saw it, but like a year ago I found the whole thing separated into like 4 parts on youtube. I planned to watch it but I just never got around to it. I haven't checked but it's probably been taking off for copyright infringement or whatever.

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
I have a list of anime that should they ever get licensed I would literally jump for joy. The Dragon Ball Dragon Boxes are on that list. I really hope FUNimation doesn't let me down on this one!

Why watch Psycho in black and white when there is a color remake in widescreen?Daimakku wrote:Why get the original PtEtS in Dragonbox quality when there's a HD remake already out there? Amazon has the remake for $9. The original doesn't have Danny Elfman music, so it's not like it's worth getting.
Plus you get Vince Vaughn.

Voted for Dragon Ball Dragon Boxes.
Toei's Movie masters look so damn good though, but they aren't as important as the original series. We'll get the movie boxes at some point. They aren't going to let the Movies collect dust after they already bought them.

Put in my vote for the original Dragon Ball. For some reason I feel like that should come before the movies, especially if it will include the DB movies. Meh, it's not a big deal which comes first in the end, though. I'm just glad this makes things more of a possibility.

Don't quote yourself like that without actually saying anything; it comes across as being an ass.Craddle wrote:dragondyle wrote:I voted for the movies. If you disagree with someone, explain to them why you disagree with them; quoting yourself is just condescending.
You had an issue with my mock smacking you on the nose because you saw it as disrespectful. How is doing that any better?
'smacks you on the nose with a newspaper' Don't do that anymore.
Also, at least one person has complained to how you are talking to people in this thread (acting like you know how certain people are reacting to events, etc.) so stop that also.

I put a vote in on the Dragon Ball Dragon Box. Considering it's my favorite of the three series, I'd really love to have it in all of it's Dragon Box glory.
I have a Dragon Ball collection of sorts which can be seen here.
Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
Because the original is overall a better movie. Whoever made the 1998 remake can't even begin to compare to Alfred Hitchcock.. this isn't a good analogy for The Plan to Eradicate All Saiyans. The original and the new one are almost identical. The only difference is the new one has new animation and is in HD, while the old one is not.MarcFBR wrote:Why watch Psycho in black and white when there is a color remake in widescreen?Daimakku wrote:Why get the original PtEtS in Dragonbox quality when there's a HD remake already out there? If the Psycho remake was identical to the old one scene by scene, with the same quality of acting, then I'd consider your analogy a good one. But in this case, it is not.
Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
I'll likely just sound like a repeat of the other people favoring the Movies, but I voted for the Movies. This comes speaking from the perspective of a Dub Fan. As a Dub fan who enjoys watching the series with the original Japanese Score, the Doubles Features are my only avenue to watch the Movies. As such, I find the quality on the DF's so horrific that I would actually choose a proper release of the Movies over the original DragonBall. The Blue Bricks have decent enough quality and in no way impede my viewing pleasure. The DF's on the other hand...Well, I think that comparison on Page 1 summed it up pretty well for me. The land in the background between Goku and Coola is completely bleached out. DBOX Movies = Win!

Having the old Special is sort of a novelty, but they're entirely different. It's not remastered, it's a remake. There's a difference.Daimakku wrote:this isn't a good analogy for The Plan to Eradicate All Saiyans. The original and the new one are almost identical. I'd like to think I'm not the only one who's retaken this on different computers requesting crazy things like TV Specials, Spanish dubs, left out commercials, and Z Box reprints. I probably am, but I still like to think it.
"Why are these your favorite sagas?" "HI I'D LIKE THIS AND THIS AND THIS..."
Yeeaahhh...
I don't think the voting for which Box matters so much. There's obviously enough interest for all of them. It's just a matter of which could come first. ...I hope.

HAHAHA I did the same thing! Personally, I asked for:
- DBZ Dragon Box reprints with Faulconer's BGM on it instead of 5.1 audio
- The original English soundtrack(Disturbed, Deftones, Drowning Pool, etc.[Yes, I like it]) for the movies instead of English w/ Japanese 5.1
- Fix the English soundtrack syncing issue on Movie 5 if they actually do use the original English movie soundtracks
I'll get flamed for these requests, but this is what I want.
You're correct sir. Fixed.Corporate_Nothing wrote:I won't flame you, but you should know that those audio tracks are in 5.1, not 7.1.

And it's as much a remake as Psycho is. It's roughly a shot for shot remake with certain things updated or tweaked.
It had a quality director, a quality script, and quality actors, yet it does not stand up to the original. Sometimes something amazing is made from a storm of events or just due to random happenstance, not a logical equation you can just look at.
Being newer doesn't make it better. Arguably every actor in DBZ is more accomplished now then they were 20 years ago, yet nearly everyone agreed their performance in Kai isn't as good as it was in Z.
Psycho is the exact comparison I meant, and it works perfectly.

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
Now see, this is where I'd draw the line. That's a little too much to ask for (and this is coming from someone who'd want the US music). The thing is is that the Z Boxes are done. My asking for another run of what's already finished is probably pushing the bill, but it's a bit more logical; asking them to do redo the Boxes is pushing further. This is why I mentioned putting the Z DBox Extras and Specials that we missed onto the Movies box. It's thinking ahead while not re-doing something they already went and finished. Even if it is all silly requests Funi may ignore, I'd like to be reasonable... a little... lolKrakabeast wrote:Personally, I asked for:

Maybe for the next re-re-re-release (that isn't canceled).

You're talking about the episode count per box right? It would actually be 38-39 episodes a piece if split into 4 boxes.Daimo-Rukiri wrote:It'd be 4, 34 is a large enough number and it's extra money in FUNis pocket.
