Use PNGs. Make sure their resolution is 853x480 as well.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Why do they look so blurred and noise reduced?

I hate to say it so bluntly, but folks, unless you truly know what you're doing, please leave the lossless screen shots to the folks who have the resources to do them. Casual screen shots like those are totally fine and likely useful outside this community, but folks 'round these parts like to be as specific as they can be with these things :).

(Additionally, "Dragon Box: The Movies" doesn't have burned-in subtitles like that in the video stream...)

All I know is my friend made me copies of Dragon-box: The Movies & gave them to me & and it has those subtitles.

The copies you recieved from your friend could have been either re-encoded or there was some filters applied on your media player. Here's shots from the RAW disc:

Could someone please link me to the perfect screencapping guide that was posted on this forum somewhere? I know I had it bookmarked at one point, but I have since reformatted.

They were animated so that they wouldn't look bad when cropped. Either way is your own personal preference, though I prefer widescreen.
And Samuraix, those shots are both JPEGs and in the wrong resolution, so they're not good for this type of thing.
You know, these movies would have been 1.85:1 in theaters, which would have meant even more cropping than in these 1.78:1 DVDs.

VLC screenshots normally aren't that bad, but most people prefer the 640x480 size, so you'd have to resize the player since VLC defaults to 720x480. If you want to get frame accurate caps, use Media Player Classic. I like to use Virtual Dub Mod, since it tells me where the I frames are. But you have to rip your disc to use VDubmod.

Thanks for the comparison shots BluezaBladeNZ! I defiantly can see the difference between yours and mine :) But when I watch the movies on my HD television they look fantastic. so now I cant wait to get my hands a-hold of the real footage if Funimation release's it. also I don't know nothing about filters ect. I just put the DVD I got into my laptop & take a snapshot of the movie in VLC media player. But I'm sad to find out that the footage I have has been messed with :( But eh what can ya do? I'll just haft to wait to get my hands a-hold of Funimation's release of the movies. See this is why I love Daizenshuu EX you folks can spot this stuff.

I believe those are xvid rips converted to DVD. The reason why they are so blurry. The original xvids probably had filters or the DVD converter add said filters.

Thanks so much for the pictures. :D

So are the double features exactly the same as the movie bricks, but just repackaged?

I think this weekend I'll finally write up an updated video player and screencapping guide with various options and operating systems.

What movie bricks? You mean the new movie packs released? Those aren't bricks, those are thinpaks, and you seem to have things backwards: the double features came first, then they were repackaged as the movie packs. They're completely identical discs, down to the disc art.

Oh, yeah I knew the double features came first. I guess I could've been clearer.

They look kind of like bricks. They look about the same shape as the orange, blue, and green bricks. http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Movie ... 772&sr=1-1

Not really. The double features usually have more on the bottom, while the Dragon Box has more on the top. I'd take quality over quantity, anyway.

For the Dragonboxes, there definitely seems like there's some sort of softening / temporal removal going on in combination with the colors being off. (Thus there are no actual complete blacks, notable in the linework.)
My favorite movie henchman is Sancho.

Follow my stupid crap on Twitter. Please note, I do not have time to reply to any PMs about color correction methods anymore; sorry about that.

RULE #7: NO BOOTLEGGING

We do not condone bootlegging. We do not want to hear about your bootleg DVDs. We do not want to hear about how many episodes you have downloaded. Yes, we can tell those screen-caps come from bootleg DVDs and/or ripping-groups' downloadable versions. We do not want to hear about how many V0/scene MP3s you have collected. When it comes down to it, DBZ has had a very rough uprising in various countries, but we are finally at the point where we can legally purchase many of the things we want and support our fandom. We recognize that there is a fine line with regard to things such as "unreleased" material, so just be wary and respectful of that line.
Wait, are you asking whether someone can upload SCREENCAPS of the BD double features? If so, say so.

He's meaning screen-shots of the Blu-ray double features. Anyone who's been here long enough knows that uploading full movies/episodes is against the rules.
