Dead Zone. Art style, story, and atmosphere are all great. The fighting choreography is amazing in the fights.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

To be honest, I like Gogeta more than Vegetto. Maybe it's just the fact that awesome characters having short screentime tends to make them that much more awesome, because Gogeta was just no-nonsense and, unlike other scenarios in the series, cut the crap and went straight to killing the villain with a badass technique. That's also a change from other contrived or re-used methods of ending movies (e.g. movies #2, #3 & 4 reusing the same Genki-Dama ripped from the Saiyan arc, DBZ Movie #7 having SS Goku absorb the Genki-Dama :? , DBZ Movie #8's infamous Toei Punch, DBZ Movie #10's boring and ripped-from-Cell-arc father-son Kamehameha in a beam struggle).

Unfortunately, I haven't seen any of the DB movies.

Cooler's Revenge:

- Brilliant Villain who was pretty competent for the setting.
- Said villain's underlings actually understood concepts like "teamwork", something which is lacking in Dragonball.
- tied into the main story pretty well.
- all in all, a rollercoaster of a film.

Dead Zone

Great Plot, amazing animation and a good old fashion Goku, Piccolo team-up.

As much as I like the first three Z movies, I'm going to have to go with Cooler's Revenge.

Just updated the votes. Cooler's Revenge is leading so far with 4 votes, and Bojack Unbound and Dead Zone are tied for second with 3 votes each. As for the people who don't believe I should have included the TV specials and OVA's, the only reason I did that was so that people could have a wider variety of choices. There also might be some people who are bigger fans of the TV Specials or OVA's than the movies, and I didn't want to leave those people out. As for the poll so far, I find it very surprising that Cooler's Revenge is so popular. I believe it's one of the better movies, but I don't think it's the best personally. I'm very surprised no one has picked any of the Broly films yet. Is Broly really that horrible of a villain?

Cooler's Revenge is my favorite! Not only is Coola one of the coolest(wink wink) villains, but you can feel the history behind the final fight. When Coola gets smashed into the sun while remembering himself letting Goku's pod escape, oh the cruel irony that is felt every time I see it! Some of the other Z series movies are great as well, such as 1,2,4,6,7,8, and 12.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

My favorites are most definitely numbers 7, 21 and 22.

Also, since you didn't include the two Educational Specials, it would've made sense to not include numbers 5, 6, 13, 16, 17, 23 and 24, because, you know.....they're not movies either :?

Basically, Broly doesn't have any character to him than being an omnicidal maniac for really petty reasons, whereas other DB movie villains like Cooler or Garlic Jr. are more three-dimensional (especially in Garlic Jr's case, as he actually succeeded in getting what he wanted - becoming immortal).

My favorites are Path to Power, World's Strongest, Cooler's Revenge, Return of Cooler, and Wrath of the Dragon. Since I have to choose one though, I'll go with World's Strongest. I love that Goku and Piccolo have a rematch in the movie, the plot is great, and the action/fighting is entertaining throughout. I think this movie is too overlooked among Dragon Ball fans.

Both of the TV specials and Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return! are great as well.
PiccoloFan7289 wrote:I'm very surprised no one has picked any of the Broly films yet. Is Broly really that horrible of a villain?
You have to understand that many people on this forum just don't like him in general because of his fanbase and his character/personality. Personally, I've always been neutral when it comes to Broli. I don't necessarily hate him, but I don't really like him either. I wouldn't say he's horrible, but I do think he is overrated.

As for his movies, I do like Movies 8 and 10, especially 10. I actually don't mind 11 either. I think Movie 11 was actually pretty interesting myself, but I'm definitely one of few that like the movie.

Definitely Path to Power for me. It's one of the few times I actually felt Goku's real emotions in the whole series.

No one would have voted for the Educational Specials anyway, that's why I didn't include them.

Wrath of the Dragon. An actual balance of plot and action in a Dragon Ball movie that in no way hinders the action, and chibi Trunks' finest moment.

Interesting about Cooler's Revenge votes here. It's my least favourite of any DBZ movie. Though reading some comments has convinced me to give it another shot. Maybe I wasn't in a right state the first time I watched it.

For me, hands down, Bojack Unbound . Masterpiece of a DBZ film (Japanese original, of course). I've seen it maybe 15 times and still adore that film. Just makes me happy any time I watch it.

I'm gonna step out of the woodwork and say A Hero's Legacy gets my vote. My close runner-up is The History of Trunks due to English dub nostalgia and the inclusion of one of my favorite bands Dream Theater in its score, not to mention the bleak yet captivating story. But A Hero's Legacy's ending tears me up every time because it's so touching. It's neat to see a 6th-generation Super Saiyan kicking butt as well.

I like the Super 13 and first Broly movie. Movie 7 was the first Japanese movie I saw when a friend went and got a Japanese fansub of it so when I got one I grabbed the next one. I'm not a big fan of the first 3 movies which at the time were the only dubbed ones (might of only been 2 at the time). Yeah they don't have much to their characters but having depth to a movie character isn't a big deal to me because the movies are so short. And honestly I think a big part of it is just the fact that I've seen those 2 so many times compared to the others.

12.

Perhaps entirely because it was the first fansub in I saw although the exceptional animation styles (particularly those contrasting scenes with Trunks & Goten), action sequences, transformations, fusions, witnessing the literal and figurative pairing of Goku & Vegeta while introducing Gogeta to the franchise. Furthermore, the hilarity of the film was fenominal; Videl's housewife aspirations, Saiyaman antics, those back from the dead, Veku, Paikuhan's verbal offensive and Shenron's unforgettable exit.

The World's Strongest
- It was when kaioken was bad ass.
- Roshi gets to fight for the first and only time in Z.
- Goku vs Piccolo.
- Fight style was more martial arts.
- Ocean Dub Voices (I prefer Ocean dub voices for the first three movies)

Bojack Unbound. Pure epicness, I love Gohan being the main character, and one of the few movies that can perfectly fit in the main story.

I'm surprised that DBZ Movie #5's so popular too, because I thought the consensus here was that many people didn't like it. I personally don't think it's as bad as as lot of people say, but it's not particularly the best either.

But I believe it's mainly because of his large and often irritating fanbase (the kind of people who like to claim that Broli could defeat SS3 Gogeta as fact) that turns a lot of people off. If he wasn't so popular, I think he would've gone mostly under the radar as just another villain, like Tullece or #13. But his "Legendary Super Saiyan" status, three movies and him basically being an embodiment of all of DBZ's stereotypes both attracted and rejected many people.

I'm personally neutral towards him. I once loathed him with a passion, but now I actually kind of like his character design and he was a good idea; it's just that he was poorly executed. DBZ Movie #8 seemed to be given the most attention out of the lot, having the longest running time (and apparently we're supposed to believe that he's awesome enough to make Vegeta pussy out in a hilariously yet annoyingly out-of-character manner), even though it mainly just consisted of Broli raping the crew for an hour.

DBZ Movie #10, for once, gave teenage Gohan the leading fighter role and actually managed to land one or two hits on him, but Broli has even less personality than he did before (as the only thing he can shout is "KAKAROTTO!") and the climax was completely ripped off of the Cell Games and boring as hell to boot.

DBZ Movie #11, I haven't seen, but I've heard that the poop monster that serves as the villain is only loosely related to the aforementioned Legendary Buttmunch, but apparently it puts Kuririn and #18 to good use.

To be honest, most of the movie villains are pretty one-dimensional. Garlic Jr. and Janemba are the only ones that really stand out for me, because of the former's backstory, the latter representing an exploration of Hell and his funny, magical, Boo-esque design, continuing with the demonic and magical part even when he transforms. And they both actually seem like something Toriyama would create. They also don't have shitty climaxes like the other movie villains, since Garlic Jr. has the ironic fate of being eternally trapped in his own Dead Zone, and Janemba is destroyed by Gogeta's stylish combo and Soul Punisher.

Dr. Uiro's just...a brain of a mad scientist. Tullece is essentially evil Gokuu. Lord Slug is a Daimaou rip-off. Coola is a Freeza rip-off. The dub kind of tried to give #13, #14 and #15 semblances of character (like how they made #13 southern), but whatever sliver of personality the programmed assassins had went away when #13 transformed. Broli is...Broli. Bojack is just some generic muscleman with a relatively original design at first. Hildegarn is just Godzilla without self-control.
