Just a thought, if Funimation thinks that twice as many people are willing to buy than there actually are, they might release one set and then cancel the entire line due to less than expected demand. On the other hand, if your extra votes don't amount to much in the whole survey anyway, then yeah. Those votes didn't do anything. I voted for Dragon Ball, once. So if you voted twenty times, FUNi would expect you to buy twenty sets!

...Huh?

I highly doubt that FUNimation's tracking how many votes are coming from each persons computer, let alone who is voting...

That wasn't his point. It was that if they get 2000 votes for the original Dragon Ball, they'd think 2000 people voted for it, and expect around 2000 to sell. If 1000 people vote and repeat their votes for 2000, they won't know that, and they'd think 2000 separate people would be willing to buy it. Obviously my numbers aren't accurate but you get the idea.

I'm sure that they're considering multiple votes from the same person.
I have a Dragon Ball collection of sorts which can be seen here.

Guess that's what happens when I skim a post.

Anyway. I'd imagine the sales from their Dragon Box Z release would be what they use as a measuring stick for sales.

You also have to consider the amount of sales from people, who, you know, have no fucking clue about Funi's little survey. :P

I went to the Funimation panel this weekend at Katsucon.

I asked, "Regarding the Dragonbox survey, how successful was the survey? And can we expect anything in the future?"

Of course I got nothing out of them. All they said was, "Stay tuned" and ""We're still counting up the votes."

Don't look too into the "Stay tuned" comment. It's as good as them saying they can't say anything right now. If anything, we should still try and find ways to take the survey since it's probably still active.

Good because I still need to go to my little local library and fill out the survey again on every computer there. I wonder how much longer the survey will be up.

Wait a minute, I have Firefox. Are you saying if I go use Internet Explorer, I can take the survey again on this same computer?

I go try now. :o

EDIT: Yep it works! Woohoo!

I'm little afraid that those 5000 votes in survey will be 500 in reality and they got screwed over it, stopping the DBox release after the first volume or halfway trough

I think I may have taken the test on all three of my browsers & forgot :P all together I've taken the test.
7 times! three on my computer, once on my mom's, once on the main living room, and twice on my brothers computer. Funimation is going to look at this and say WTF? :P

These surveys people are doing on their own than others are going to hurt the Dragon Box DB/TM/GT when/if they're released.

I just took it once not more because I just plan on buying one copy of each box.

You're saying (that) if we keep voting over and over on different computers & Funimation releases them (the final data?), and they see that the survey doesn't match up with the dollar that's being made, then they might not be so tempted to release the others? Is that what you meant? If it is, you kinda got a point. :P

That's correct.

It's good to see people so eager to get FUNi to release the rest of the Dragon Boxes but this might get ugly.

Just imagine FUNimation:
"Dragon Box Dragon Ball cancelled"
"Dragon Box Dragon Ball GT cancelled"
"Dragon Box The Movies cancelled"

Due to not enough sales according to the surveys taken by people/fans.

If they're smart enough to check Dragon Ball-specific forum for interest in what their customers want, they're smart enough to realize that people are gonna vote as many times as physically possible.

Regardless, they've called Dragon Box collection 'limited release' so they're never gonna make too many to the point where they need to cancel it from losing money. We have the desire of people that STILL want to by the Dragon Box Z volumes, and they've already been descontinued.

They were a Limited Edition item, so only a certain amount of copies were produced, not discontinued.

Raging Blast 2 LE had about 30,000 copies produced, and then once all were sold only by third parties.

I gave up on RB2 LE, not really worth it.

I don't think FUNi will make their supply exactly based on the surveys. After all, Dragon Ball has a huge casual fanbase that'll probably just end up seeing the Boxes the first time when they're in a retail store, having never heard of a survey on them. This is especially true for GT and The Movies.

They'll probably make the supply similar to how much DBoxes 1-7 were if they keep going, regardless of the survey results.

Even if a another set of Dragon Boxes does poorly in sales, I don't think that set would get cancelled midway through. This isn't the same deal with something like the Blu-Rays, where FUNimation had to put their own time and resources into remastering. The majority of the cost and work is already done when they obtain the masters, so once they have them all they have to do is throw subs and a dub track on it and put it in packaging. FUNimation in all likelihood would complete the set to recoup as much as they could from the cost of the masters, regardless of how bad sales were.
I have a Dragon Ball collection of sorts which can be seen here.
