Well, they technically are discontinued because they're not in print anymore. Unlike things (like the RB2 example) where a certain number is produced, do we actually know if that's they way FUNi printed them? If anything, it seems like they just printed new copies until the seventh box was released, which is in fact, a form of discontinuation.dbboxkaifan wrote: They were a Limited Edition item, so only a certain amount of copies were produced, not discontinued..

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
I thought that too but, if that was the case, then Dragon Box 7 would be the rarest set and there would be plenty of Dragon Box 2 to go around.Son Satan wrote:dbboxkaifan wrote: If anything, it seems like they just printed new copies until the seventh box was released, which is in fact, a form of discontinuation.

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
They had to have produced more than one run. Remember when Box 2 went out of print in 2010, then suddenly went back in print a few months later?
Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at. Box 4 did the same thing, iirc.Levlik wrote:They had to have produced more than one run. Remember when Box 2 went out of print in 2010, then suddenly went back in print a few months later?

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
Are they ever gonna be cheaper again? I remember the Dragonboxes being 15$-25$ and now some of them are 300$ :/

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
Being a limited release doesn't necessarily mean one printing, nor does it being out of stock at a retailer mean they necessarily printed more.
Extras beyond orders could have been at distributor warehouses, or more likely, they decided to keep them in print for 'X' months post release.
And limited releases have on occasion gotten an 'extra' printing down the line with a notice that that would be it (the best example being the Freaks and Geeks Yearbook set.)

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
I'm not saying anything about anybody that didn't buy these while they were still in print but ''IF'' Funimation Re-releases Dragon-box Z everyone better get them while the gettin is good
But I doubt they will come back anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong though.

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
I feel a little guilty by finding the loop-hole that some folks were talking about a couple of pages back about access to FUNi's survey. I had just remembered to file the survey through my other two PC in my house right before I read dbboxkaifan reason as to why that is not such a great idea in the first place for those that want a legit release.
How foolish of me!

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
I don't get why everyone's freaking out about this. I'm sure FUNimation has the sense to know that not everyone voting in the poll will be purchasing any potential set. You can vote for free, but you can't buy the sets for free.
I'm guessing FUNimation would figure in sales of past sets of any series, in addition to sales for Dragon Box Z to get an idea of how much they sell.

Frankly, I expect the first thing they will do is look for duplicate IPs and strip those out immediately.

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
Probably. Honestly, spamming the survey might be even more counterproductive than just canceled votes since if they get the impression that the entire thing was hijacked they might throw the whole thing out under the assumption that it was a massive trolling attempt ala 4chan rigging GameFAQs polls or something. Granted, I doubt this survey could possibly be considered grand enough to attract that kind of abuse but why risk even giving the impression? They put up the survey hoping it'll give a legitimate estimate of interest. It's not there for us to abuse as if we can trick FUNi into giving us a reward. I want the Dragon Boxes as much as the next guy. But let's show a little respect for people on the other end who saw fit to offer up the poll to begin with.
Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
Yeah, clearly it is best to just vote once. Abusing a system like this is never a good thing. However, I get the feeling they were probably planning to release another DBox anyway since they ended the Blu-ray release and the Z DBoxes have finished, and this survey is just to help them decide which one to release (or which one to release first). I'd be surprised if they were basing their entire "release/not release at all" decision on the results of an internet poll like this one.

I debated this much for all this time.
Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
I've only taken the survey twice since I have two browsers, and probably won't take it over and over again at my local library (which I would have to bike to anyway which is a mission in itself), but I still don't see the big deal with taking it more than once.

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
I find it amusing that people just came right out with it and said very openly, "This is how you cheat," without taking into account that this is a public forum that representatives from FUNimation might be reading. This forum is attached to a site mostly dedicated to the Japanese version of the franchise and the majority of the active users are fans of the Japanese version. That would make it even more likely that, were FUNimation looking into their target demographic's reaction to this survey, they'd probably take a few passes through this thread. Knowing that it looks as if everyone here is cheating the system, that really makes the survey seem useless.
Hopefully they're just not monitoring us that closely. I'd certainly hate it if we didn't get more Dragonbox goodness because they think we're trying to screw them over.

Its sounds funny but its true. Hadn't I read some posts on this thread I didn't know I could just change browsers & do another fill-in right on my same PC.Kendamu wrote:I find it amusing that people just came right out with it and said very openly, "This is how you cheat," without taking into account that this is a public forum that representatives from FUNimation might be reading. Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
Since I've taken the survey twice, I'm gonna buy at least two copies of each volume if FUNi decides to go through with it. One set for myself, and the other(s) to sell off once discontinued (don't worry, I'll keep the prices reasonable
).

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
Thinking about it, if they did do more releases, they should do pretty well, taking into account the people who missed out last time and make sure they don't this time and the people who buy multiple copies to sell to the people who do miss out.
With any luck, Funimation could do pretty well out of this.

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
Is it safe to assume that Funimation will likely get something going this year? I mean after all Kai is coming to a close, The Blu-rays are canceled, The Dragon-Boxes are out of print. My guess is within 5 to 6 months Funimation will announce either Dragon-Box: The Movies or Dragonball Dragon-Box. is this possible?

Re: Dragon Box FUNimation Survey
Yes, it is very possible. Funimation wouldn't have put out this survey to begin with if they didn't have the slightest intention of going forth with some new Dragon Box-related release in the near future. They made it clear that the survery itself is no guarantee in and of itself that more Dragon Boxes are to come, but it's clear that they are strongly considering it.samuraix123 wrote:Is it safe to assume that Funimation will likely get something going this year?
