So I was feeling green today, and decided to watch the Big Green dub. It's so funny! Who was behind it? The narrator is hilarious! also can I get a list of all the characters names? what they call them in the Big Green dub. here is what I know.
Piccolo-Big Green?
Krillin- Klirrin
Vegeta - vegi ta
tien - ten-shin
these are just great

Maybe you guys can post a Youtube link to some of your favorite scenes in the Big Green Dub? also tell me your thoughts about the dub.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Krillin - Krillén
Vegeta - Végéta (correct pronunciation of the word)
Piccolo - Big Green
Goku - Son Goku / Goku
Gohan - Son Gohan / Gohan
The FUNi/OceanDub pronounce Vegeta's name as Vejita, close to Bejita. ^_^

Info on the production of the Big Green dub is pretty much non-existent. All we know for sure is that it was produced by the AB Groupe, and that it was produced somewhere in Europe.

It was dubbed in the Netherlands I heard with French actors.... or Dutch actors. Someone actually got the name of the guy who voiced Goku but I cannot remember his name.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Also, there seems to be a consensus that the actors' first languages aren't English, though I've never felt that way.

Well, while this has not been confirmed, there's significant reason to believe that French people were involved at some level, because the scripts for the Big Green dub contain a few of the French "dubisms." Most notably, they refer to Saiyans as "Space Warriors," and to Super Saiyans as "Super Warriors"...which is exactly how they were referred to in the French dub of DBZ.
On an unrelated note, to France's credit, they corrected this error for their Kai dub.

I wish there was a way I could see all of the Big Green and Malaysian dubs. The few clips I've seen on Youtube are priceless and the source of many inside jokes.

Out of the available Big Green Dubs that I have (Dead Zone - Bojack Unbound + both specials), Bojack Unbound was actually pretty good and I've heard that the Trunks special is also praised better than the others.
I still need Movie's 10 - 13.

I remember watching the Green dub of Movie 3 and I laugh my ass off. These dubs are so bad that they are good. They are bad enough to be used on MTS3K

This thread made me want to see a scene from the big green dub of movie 8. I always found the scene where Broly kills Paragus to be so bad it was funny but alas the longer version has been taken off of youtube so I can't find it now

Yes but its missing the part where Broly talks which is what I found funny. I can't even remember exactly what it was I think he sounded kind of like a surfer and elongates a word in a odd kind of way.

I like how Kaio sounds in that dub.
"Those transformations insane,
They wanna turn up hours late and steal the show from the pros who had to die for the name." - Yamcha (DBWTF: Z-Rap 3)
"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot

Broly sounds like some kinda surfer dude

Thats it

I also like how Broly's scream starts off almost decent but then the VA becomes bored and just yawns when he throws the space pod

Actually, a question just occurred to me that I never thought to ask before. Since there seem to be so many French "dubisms" in the English scripts of the Big Green dub, I have another question to try and discern the level of involvement France had...
For people familiar with the French dub scripts of the DBZ movies, do the Big Green dub scripts appear to be based on them?

I can't see the logic behind the big green dub. If it was done by AB group why not just rehire the Ocean cast to do them or at the very least a Blue water dub like they did before?
I could see them wanting to cut costs but the dubs are so ridiculous I just cant believe they thought these were acceptable. Maybe it's just the fact that it's a French company and in their ears any English is good English just like to a lot of English speakers any Japanese is good Japanese.

From what I've read about the subject, you pretty much answered your own question.

Yes but what's the point in cutting costs if the end product is unwatchable? Surely they would have the common sense to realise that dubbing it this way was not going to be popular and thus would make less money than a better quality product.
