Your #1 Kikuchi/Shuki/Nathan/Faulconer/Menza/+ tracks.

Post by dbboxkaifan » Sat Feb 25, 2012 8:43 pm

It's hard to pick/choose the best track they've composed because they're all top notch composers, but here's my favourites.

Shunsuke Kikuchi: Ginyu's Theme
Shuki Levy: Gohan's Hidden Powers
Nathan Johnson: Tapion's Theme
Faulconer Productions: Vegeta's Super Saiyan Theme
Mark Menza: Next Episode Preview BGM
Hiroshi Takaki: Fist of Justice
Akihito Tokunaga: GT ED#2
Kenji Yamamoto: The Braveheart Challenges the Strong
Toshiyuki Kishi: Expectation
BT2 Team: Gatebreaker (RB2/BT2 Theme)

Added: Takaki, Tokunaga, Yamamoto and Kishi.

Not entirely sure if Takaki composed FoJ and Kishi's Expectation, but wow, both are brilliant. :D

Kikuchi: M 2109 From Movie 13 or Interdimensional Punches from Movie 12

Shuki: None

Nathan: The one where Vegeta and Zarbon were fighting the first time.

Faulconer: This one is tough. Probably Kid Buu's theme, it always stood out to me. Sounds like Doomsday is happening 8)
If not that one, Gohan Powers Up, because it sounds like an army of angels is about to fuck shit up.

Mark Menza: Super Android 17 theme. The only track I like from GT.

Kenji Yamamoto: Sky Battle from Budokai 3 or Demise from Burst Limit.

Ultimate Battle 22: Trunks or Cell's theme

Levy: The track that plays when Vegeta gets hit with the Spirit Bomb.

Kikuchi: The track that plays when Piccolo sacrifices himself to save Gohan.

Johnson: The track that plays when Goku is flying out of Princess Snake's stomach.

Faulconer Productions: Super Buu's Theme

Shunsuke Kikuchi: Ginyu Theme (or whatever that track is called on the OSTs; it's the battle theme used frequently throughout early DBZ)
Shuki Levy: Goku Arrives from Other World
Nathan Johnson: Vegeta vs. Zarbon
Team Faulconer: (tie) Energy Disc Music & Gohan Fights Freeza
Mark Menza: (Z) SSJ Theme from movies 6-7; (GT) Super 17 Theme

Kikuchi: Kyôfu no Ginyū Tokusentai (The Fearsome Ginyu Special Corps)
Tokunaga: Prologue & Subtitle
Yamamoto: Requiem ~To Those Who Meet Their End~
Shuki: I don't know his score well enough to pick. It's been ages since I've seen more than a few clips from the Ocean dub, but I will say that the score was pretty good. Much better than the Faulconer score. One of the few replacement scores that I do not hate.
Nathan: No idea what songs he's done. Can't say.
Faulconer: Super Saiyan 3 Ascension Theme, Super Buu Theme, Perfect Cell Theme. Also the song that plays for the narrator's lines at the beginning. But those are, for the most part, the only songs I actually like from the score. I also don't like how it's used as constant noise without ever getting a break. That's why I like that DBZKaiMusicRevival YouTube channel. It takes the scores and places them down in an attempt to improve the episodes. In these videos, the Faulconer music is used as an actual score, with silence and all.
Menza: None.

"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot

I agree with the others re: Kikuchi's Ginyu Theme. Although the music used for Piccolo (with the bells) is my other favourite too.

Admittedly the only other music I am familiar with is the Bruce Faulconer soundtrack and my favourite from that is the Perfect Cell Theme.

Forgive my ignorance, but does that mean that the composer for the Japanese version of GT was not mentioned in the topic subject? If so I would like to include him. I find the Prologue version of the GT opening absolutely beautiful.

You forgot to include Tokunaga, composer for GT.

Kikuchi: Final Genki Dama scene, I never know the music's name lol

Tokunaga: I keep going back and forth between this one and this one. (GT had great music)

Faulconer: As a guitar fan, I like the Super Saiyan 3 theme. Not a DB song, though. Kinda insulted to know it was played in the emotional final genki dama scene.

Yamamoto: Probably "The murder of love + P-Machinery" (BP8) I had to :P (I do really like it, though)

Kishi: "Soldier's Sorrow" (Assuming it's his lol)

Haven't listened enough from Takaki's stuff to have a favorite. Levy, Johnson and Menza...yeah, I don't anything from them.

Damn, the internet got me thinking that was composed by him and it does sound like Kikuchi'd.

Thanks for the info.

Shunsuke Kikuchi - M110X-1
Kenji Yamamoto - Battle Point Unlimited
Faulconer Productions - Episodic Trunks (Possibly the best piece composed for any Dragon Ball soundtrack I've ever heard)
Nathan Johnson - Get What's Coming (Vegeta vs Zarbon Theme)
Mark Menza - Recap Music Theme

Kikuchi- I can't think of the name of it. I'm pretty sure it plays when the Nameks fight Dodoria.

Levy- I've never seen the ocean dub beyond a few clips on YouTube, so I can't say.

Tokunaga- the "march" version of the opening. Actually, all versions of Dan Dan.

Menza- Opening on the DBZ "Orange Bricks" and the movies.

Faulconer- The Dragon Theme, Super Buu, SSJ3 Powerup and Ginyu Force Theme to name a few.

Yamamoto- Challengers (Budokai 1 Namek)

Johnson- recap theme. The only one I really know haha

BT2- Awake. BT3- Caution. RB1- Expectation

Can someone tell me who composed the OST for the last three? It's not Yamamoto is it? Because the tracks in those games don't sound like him.

Faulconer: Goku's Spirit Bomb theme

Kikuchi: King Piccolo's theme and all its variations in DB

Levy: That track that always plays when Goku always arrives on the battlefield. That and the one that plays at the part when Goku gives Vegeta that big gut punch causing him to hold his stomach in agony

Jonson: That one that plays when Vegeta fights Zarbon and Recoome

Yamamoto: Budokai 3 Level up

Tokunaga: That track that plays when Goku first uses the 10x Kamehameha on Baby

BT2 Team: Go Ahead (Great for epic battles and sounds a little like Rock the Dragon)

Menza: It all sounds pretty much the same from what I've heard but I guess the Super Saiyan theme

Kikuchi: either the Ginyu Force theme or the Genkidama theme. They're very different, but I love them both.
Tokunaga: recap theme (Dan Dan slow version) or the Hitorijanai slow remix.
Levy: the one playing when Goku arrives at the battle with Vegeta and to Namek in the Ocean dub.
Faulconer: well, I like several themes, such as Vegeta's Super Saiyan theme, Gotenks's theme and Super Saiyan 3 theme. But hey, I don't really consider them DB tracks.
Yamamoto: the Dragon Soul Orchestra Remix (the one playing in episode 1 of Kai). It's a shame is was taken out. I mean, Dragon Soul was kept, the preview theme remixing Yeah Break Care Break was kept, why not this one?
