Except that the Potara Fusion is supposed to be permanent.
Well, that's a double edge sword. The good thing is, you won't split in two in the middle of battle. The bad thing is, you will never split again, ever.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I kind of like the potara because there isn't really any time for Vegeta to learn the fusion dance anyway.

Didn't sound like anythng goku was against. He would love to be that powerful. Overall i just hate the buu saga. Introduces so many stupid ass things.

*cough* MidbattleagainstJanemba*cough*

But that's movies so that doesn't count. Besides, Veku nearly died.

I think that Potara should unfuse when the earrings are removed. Besides Shenron should be able to with the souls apart if Majin Buu's stomach could.
SON GOTEN FTW
except GT Goten
Especially after he went out with Paresu-chan

I know about M12 but in the manga it would have been trickier than that to learn. Plus we don't have any evidence in the manga that Vegeta and Goku could have done the fusion dance - there is a noticeable height difference between the two.

Having it unfuse when the earrings are removed is too convenient. I like the theory that Majin Boo's creation involved Makaioshin magic and that it cancels out the Kaioshin magic of the earrings.

Well, Gokuu proposed that they do the Fusion Dance inside Boo's body, but Vegeta refused because he thought it looked silly and didn't want to be merged with Gokuu again.

Also, Gokuu said that he could've done the Fusion Dance with Gohan, despite there being a considerable gap in their powers. I mean, Gohan had slacked off for 7 years, and Vegeta was presumably stronger than him (even if only by a small amount), but it took his dormant power being brought out beyond his limits to even match Gokuu.

You are talking about Vegeta right? Because there is no way in hell Gohan's potential is only equal with Goku.

Yeah, but couldn't Goku just lower his power to match Gohan's when they fused? The end result should still be pretty strong. And I'm not sure if Goku would have known if fusion with Vegeta would have worked until they tried.

Correct.

Gokuu himself specifically stated that the requirements for Metamoran Fusion was for the fusees to be both around the same height and power, even if the stronger one could simply suppress his power to match the other one. Or maybe Gokuu just hadn't tried it like that yet, and simply assumed that they absolutely had to be around the same power. But we don't know how much the Metamorans told him, and Gokuu even admitted that Gotenks was a gamble (he couldn't guarantee that Gotenks could defeat Boo), so who knows?

I guess it was just more of a generalizations, like being in the same league of power. Even though Gohan was still weaker than Gokuu, perhaps the gap wasn't as large as the story may or may not seem to imply. Or perhaps Gokuu underestimated how much Gohan's power dropped, or figured that his dormant power would be brought out within the Fusion (like Gotenks possibly unlocking SS3 through Goten and Trunks' dormant power, not simply that he was a magical Fusion of two Saiyans).

Don't forget, the entire reason Goku says he's never performed Fusion himself is that there was nobody close enough to his strength.

Oh yeah, that too.
